I just received my cad for new er.... The side stones are bigger than I originally wanted... What is everyone's thoughts?

I've attached a pic of my inspiration ring for you.... Which do you prefer?

It's gorgeous, I wouldn't change a thing. I think the proportions are just right, and remember the cad appears bulkier than the final ring.

I love it--it is gorgeous! But you have to do what you need to be happy!!

Wendy, I think you copied a photo of my ring by accident, and the inspiration for your ring didn't post.

Lioness-

It's the cad - perhaps we both have good taste :-). I'm reposting inspiration ring.. I'm a newbie

Wowsa! Mine is a dainty flea-market find in need of a some TLC. Your inspiration ring is a showstopper!

And yes, I agree that the side stones in the CAD could be smaller if you'd like them to be, but they don't need to be smaller. It's your ring. Ask for a modification.

Love the larger stones its is gorgous wouldn't change a thing

I love it just the way it is!

I love it too. I think your inspiration ring has a fatter center stone - that may be what's throwing you off.

I think it's gorgeous, and agree that the inspiration picture's center stone is more "plump" lol. I wouldn't change a thing, but also agree that you have to be comfortable with it.

I MUCH prefer the proportions on the CAD version from ERD. It gives a ring a substantial quality ring. No offense to anyone but the inspirtation ring looks more like a Macys cheapy cockail ring. The ERD version is loads better.

I love it!

Sb621 - that's rude plain and simple. The ring I used as an example for proportions.. Meaning I prefer a side stone vs 3 stone look. People have different taste... If you prefer the cad version the proper response is that- to call my inspiration ring cheap is not called for. I never implied the quality of it was good- otherwise I would have ordered that setting.

Thank you to the others for thier opinion.

I love the CAD, but if you prefer the smaller proportions of the sidestones (like the inspiration photo), you could just ask them to scale them down a bit. :)) I understand what you mean about "side stones" vs. "three stone" look though! ;))

I LOVE the scale-looks SO elegant but if you don't like it then of course it is YOUR ring so you should think it is PERFECT!

It isn't going to look like the inspiration because you are using a much smaller and more elongated oval. This makes both the sidestones and the melee look larger in proportion.

CAD looks nice not withstanding the different proportions.

Maybe it's too different from the inspiration but it might be more like the proportions you're looking for if the side stones were not haloed.

OR if the halo was one continuous one around all the stones, not three separate halos.

Or of course make the side stones smaller. :)

I actually love the CAD. I don't think it looks more three stone because the center is so large. It will be gorgeous either way!

I love the Cad but the side stones are about 50% the height of the center vs the inspiration which is around 30% height of the center. Reducing the size of the sides will save you $ but you may regret going smaller once you wear the ring.

ERD made my ring with side stones but after 3 months I actually wished the side stones were larger so that it would look like a 3 stone. The sides started to "shrink" once I started wearing the ring. It's the typical DSS...but with I'd add 2 extra S' s for sidestones. Dssss!

Not to hijack this thread, but really? I soooooo love your setting and part of the reason is because the stone really pops!

I thought about removing halo from half moons.... Chris from erd didn't feel it would look good. I don't want them to be super small... But I agree with neil that I'd love the proportions to be more 30% vs 50% of width... I want my center stone to pop.

I tried hard to find a chubby oval not an easy stone to find

Thanks for all the feedback... Its definitely a journey this upgrade

I hear you on the upgrade. Who knew that having more funds and time and knowledge than before, would make things more complicated! It will make the results that much better. The advice I get from others here is - enjoy the process!

I know your centre is less chunky than the inspiration but could the angle of Chris' cad be throwing you off too? Ask him for one that's more head on...your inspiration photo seems more head on rather than the cad which is angled. On the inspiration I can see the other side of the shank, whereas the cad only shows the side stone. Steeper angle. Also the centre coloured stone's orange really pops which could also be throwing you off in term's of its greater 'presence'.

I just saw a ring on ebay that has the kind of setting you are looking at, and I was thinking maybe the sides are a little smaller than the ones in your CAD. I just thought I'd post it so you can decide on your preferences.
