Actually, come to think of it, I forgot about setting, resizing, and shipping fees (as always) so it's more like $700.
Mount = $550? $570? Forgot the exact amount.
Setting, resizing, shipping = $70-$80.
Stone = no idea but max $30. Basically I am soooo cheap when it comes to garnets and would not have paid more than that. I don't remember how I ended up with the stone...it was either a freebie (bit too big for a freebie though), or something I bought on a whim on ebay for like $10 on top of another stone which I actually wanted. Maybe Tan...? Oilpearl...? Though I don't remember if they even used to carry spess. It's crazy but I have a few stones like this which I entirely forgot how I ended up with them. Mostly from ebay or when the vendor drops used to be even crazier. Impulse purchases...bad...

That's a bargain @Cockatiel! I doubt you can get a spess for that price these days!

That is just gorgeous! What is the origin of your spinel?

It is from Westview Gems - beautifully cut, flawless transaction!
Oh, I meant country origin. It’s great to hear you had such a nice experience with Westview gems. They have some beautiful inventory.

My first effort with colored stones... Obtained the gems from a fellow PSer and had them set through Ivy & Rose. I think they did a very nice job

Please excuse my terrible photography!

I love the settings and the stones! What are the stones?

Thanks @chatoyancy! =)2

The oval is a malaya garnet and the other is a red spinel. I wasn’t sure if using a bezel setting would overly darken the spinel, but I’m so glad to see it didn’t. It just glows even though I can’t seem to capture it well in my photos.

They are both in the perfect settings. Your Malaya and spinel are so sparkly. I would have guessed garnet and tourmaline. I think your photography is really good. I’m always so embarrassed about mine.

@stonewell : you have made such great choices for both stones and settings!
Comes to show that fabulousness and high quality is so well possible under 1250$.
Great inspiration for all of us.

Thanks to you both for the vote of confidence. I actually angonized over how these would turn out - and while I’m usually pretty decisive, it took me months to pull the trigger.

Grateful you and others think so! I have a hard time visualizing the end result, so I got lucky by connecting with Ilya. He confirmed these were the ideal settings to show off the stone and was a saint with my million and one questions.

Thank you @Acinom!! I have to say though, the credit goes to you and the other wonderful gals here - I’ve been lurking through all of the set/reset threads I could find.

Beautiful colored stones in perfectly matching settings! Congratulations!

They are really beautiful stones. :kiss2: I am so glad I could do justice by them and not break the bank in the process.

Aww, thanks for your kind feedback. Maybe it’s just me, but the four pics I posted were out of over 100 I had taken to get some that would show what I see irl. :lol-2:

As an aside to everyone - I have a separate thread for my sapphire hunt and would love if anyone can give me some guidance. It won’t qualify for this thread, but I promise I’ll share the end result. =)2

I have a hard time as well. I’d like to use an Ivy and Rose setting for my gray spinel. Your rings just gave me the final push. It sounds like there was great customer service.

Definitely reach out to him... he actually has a team there responding as well. So, I also chatted with Leighann and Erica. What I appreciated the most throughout the process was their responsiveness. I think you’ll enjoy working with them.

And I can’t wait to see what you choose for your grey spinel! I have that on my wish list and love the ones with a hint of lavender or blue tones.
