Gorgeous blue!! And I love the elegant setting. Thanks for sharing.Does reusing a setting you have qualify? Even if I hadn’t, what I originally paid for the ring and my new stone was well under 1250.
The setting came from a Leigh Jay Nacht ring I had acquired pre-loved. I repurposed the original diamond for a pendant I’m having made. So, I was looking for a stone to take its place when Mastercut Gems held its Spring sale.
Here it is with the 5.2mm Montana sapphire I purchased for a replacement stone. Love all the shades of blue!
Great find!! Another beautiful blue! Pre-owned is such a great way to find fabulousness under 1150$
Gorgeous!!! These are stunning pieces. Your Greenlake and MOP rings are my personal favourites. Stunning center stone in your Greenlake solderes set.I've been trying to curb my spending on jewelry and focus on setting what I have without spending a fortune. Its scary how these small projects add up
First up..I bought this setting for $225. It was missing the center pair of diamonds. So I had my jeweler set some inexpensive native cut 4mn sapphires I had picked from Gene at Precision Gem ($29/pair) and paid my jeweler $125 to size, redo the bezels and set the sapphires. Sold to me as 14k but my jeweler had a nice surprise..it's platinum!
$380 total
Next up is a 5.1ct 9.73 mm asscher cut amethyst from Christiane Morin purchased for $175. Set in a new 14k mount with side diamonds. $550 including a replacing the head to hold the stone. Total $725
Next up is a Merelini Mint garnet faceted by Gene. It's 1.3 ct 6.7 mm..has inclusions but great color for $200. I set it in in a preloved custom setting from Green Lake Jewelry Works purchased for $300 from another PSer. Add $100 to set and resize (the rings are soldered so my jeweler had to take them apart to size and the resolder). Total $600.
The above setting originally held a California tourmaline from Earth's Treasury. I put it in this neclace charm from my jeweler scrap pile for $100
Not a bargain but under $1250. I had this small blue Namibian tourmaline from Vance that I was going to make into a stack ring..but it didn't go with my other stacker stones so had it set in this 18k setting. Total $450
Finally, despite my determination to just use what I had, I couldn't resist this cute 14k mop(?) Flower ring. It was $200. I didn't even ask what the blue stones (3mm each( were because my plan is to have Yvonne take it to Tucson to look for replacements (thinking green garnet out stones with a neon pink spinel in the middle...thoughts?)
Those are wonderful! That aqua pear is so pretty and deep aqua blue. I’ve never seen one quite like that one set in a ring. Love it, love them both!
@MrsKMB : great additions!! Stunning saturated stones and fabulous settings.
This thread always makes me wonder why I seldom succeeded to stay under 1250 $. It so proves that fabulousness is possible under 1250 dollar. I like!!!
That ring turned out beautifully and was extremely budget friendly!
Where is the setting from btw? Is it an Ivy & Rose setting?
Thank you! Yes, it’s an I&R setting.
Regarding costs, I forgot the custom fees, but basically it doesn’t count for me really as cost of the ring.
