Farewell Drink in Boston!!!

I will be leaving on Monday, Feb 28!
Inviting everyone in and around Boston to join me for a farewell drink in Boston sometime next week.
Let me know when and where it's best for you all.
Last week on Thursday we met at MJ's O'Connor. It was so much fun.
Feel free to bring a friend or your partner with you if you feel uncomfortable coming by yourself.
This will be the 2nd get together in Beantown.
Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Since no one''s yet offered any suggestions... the only day that''s out for me is Wednesday. MJ''s was fun, but is there any other place that you''d really like to go before you leave?

Wednesday sounds perfect to me. I would say same time starting at 5:30pm. I can''t meet up on Thursday anyhow, BF has plans with me. Now all we need will be the location. I''m not very picky. I just prefer to make it easy and simple for everyone to meet up. Depending where everybody lives and transportation (car or tube). If the heart of Boston is too far for everyone we can find a town that will be easy to access for all of us. For example David Square or Sommerville they have some nice bars there. But if it''s too complicated we''ll just stick to MJ''s in Boston. If you are not sure posting here PM me and we can work from there.

Hey Girls...ok - I can do Wed, can''t do Tuesday (and those are the only options for HOF at this point, correct?)...so I guess either rfath or I will miss it. I have a suggestion for a place that''s very t-accessible, right off the red-line. Peking Tom''s - great food, great drink list. It''s in downtown crossing. Otherwise I''m good for MJ''s, or Cambridge/Somerville (I''d prefer red-line accessible if we''re not going the MJ''s route).

I''d love to come...I have a neighborhood thing at 7ish that I promised myself I''d go to, but I can certainly stick around for one drink. The downtown area would be great, but I''m also flexible. Never been to Peking Tom''s but I''ve walked by and it looks yummy.

Rfath: Ooops sorry... silly me... didn''t read the post right. Arghhhh. I read you could make it on Wed. OK, I really would love you to be there. Is Fri or Sat OK with you. I''m already booked for Thu and Sun. So no can''t do. I know it gets busy during the weekend but we can always make reservations.

BlueChica: Peking Tom''s sounds cool to me. Just have to get the directions there and see if everyone can make if for Fri or Sat. I agree it''s easier if there is access to the red-line.

Lurchie: Day is changing... sorry my fault... but maybe you have more time on Fri or Sat.

I would need the directions for BF to drop me off. We don't have to stay too long since it's the middle of the week and it's an office day the next day. Would really like to meet you.

Croi: You are so sweet. Well if you want to join me on both days. That's great!!! But if you can only get to one that's fine. But I since BlueChica couldn't make it last time at MJ's I really want to meet her too. And since she can't make it for Fri I will have a get together tomorrow as well. Can't wait to see you again.

Rfath: That's cool Fri is set. New location!!! So glad to see you again.

For anyone else who is wondering where peking tom''s is - if you take the T, get off the red/orange line at downtown crossing. There are several exits from the station, however, once you get outside orient yourself so you''ve got macy''s on your right, and filene''s on your left. Walk down that street...you''ll see a CVS on your right, keep going. At the next block, Kingston, turn right. Peking Tom''s is 3/4 of a block down on the right. The whole walk from the T should take about 4 minutes.

If you''re driving...that''s a little tougher, you''ll have to go in a parking garage. I seem to recall one right across the street from peking tom''s, though I''m not positive since I drive infrequently. PM me if you need driving directions, I''ll have to give that some more thought based on how well you know the area.

so sorry I missed last night but there was nothing for it on my end but to take a raincheck. I am planning on making it tomorrow provided the weather cooperates. I get very irritable in the snow, I am just SO not a winter-person (unless I''m independently wealthy and can sit around watching the snow out the window while reading favourite books in front of a roaring fire !) heh!

anyway, I''m so glad you had fun and I''m definitely on for meeting you BlueC - maybe we can try for some night next week.

I have a friend arriving from Ireland on the 4th and have a wedding in Vermont the following weekend on the 12th. Weekdays work good for the most part.

I lived in Boston for five years (college plus one year of insanity).
It was like New England didn''t realize it was in the Northeast! As soon as one snowflake hit, the T would shut down, the airport would shut down, restaurants would shut down... I swear, people would stand around and look up and inquire, ''what is this white stuff falling from the sky?''!

I live in New York City now. Actually, aside from those five years in Boston, I''ve always lived here.

NYC is the city of preparedness... there was one winter when tons of snow was predicted for one night so literally every truck to plow and distribute sand was ready to go... and not one snow flake. Wasted the government a whole lot of money... even blamed the weather forcasters at the news channels!

If it never got below 55 degrees, I would be a happy camper...

I too can''t stand the cold, the snow and the freezing weather. A big part of me wants to stay here to be with bf. I''m really sad that I have to leave him behind. But part of me is so happy to be back in the tropical weather and to be with my family. Sun, sun, sun!!!

I dream of moving to Bermuda...it''s between 65 and 75 all year long. I can give up the seasons for that. Actually, I love Annapolis, always seemed to have a nice mix of the seasons, none of them ridiculously harsh.

ammayernyc - I remember the bruhaha over that missed prediction. Really the city has no choice but to be prepared because it''s such a big job.
