i just got engaged three weeks ago, and my fiance got me a beautiful 1.23 champagne diamond in a half bezel setting. The only thing is, everyone seems to hate it! Its really bringing me down. any tips on how to get over it?

You can post pics and we can all drool over it :)

I can''t believe people would tell you they don''t like your ring, how rude!

I love champagne diamonds myself, and I have several. Many of them have pink and yellow undertones that are very beautiful. They are also unique in a world of colorless diamonds you only see.

It's funny you mention this because I was at the mall yesterday, and I was drooling at this lady with a 1.2 carat champagne e- ring (same size as yours). It was gorgeous and different. She worked at a jewelry store, so I was discussing her ring with her. At another jewelry store, there was a bronze pearl ring surrounded by gorgeous champagne diamonds. I was salivating!!

Poo poo on what people think. If you think it's beautiful, than that's all that matters. I may not like a certain species or color of colored gemstone, but someone else might, so does that mean they should hate their stone? Of course not!!

Post pictures!! I'm dying to see it.

i feel like people just done "get" the whole champagne diamond.....they think its either not a diamond or that its a low quality diamond.i''m attaching a pic, hope it works? tell me what you think! yes, i''m fishing for compliments

and here is another picture too!

From what I can see, because your pictures are so small, it looks gorgeous. It''s big and sparkley and it looks to have a beautiful yellow undertone.

I do think people are not used to champagne diamonds and somehow think they''re inferior to white colorless diamonds. However champagne diamonds are actually rarer than colorless diamonds. "LovingDiamonds," who has amassed an amazing fantastic colored gemstone collection, has several champagne diamond rings. She has pictures of her collection floating around somewhere, but she has excellent taste and a very discriminating eye. I bet she would love your ring.

I LOVE the setting, and from what I can tell, the stone looks nice too!

What''s important is that YOU love it.

I think you have a very cool, modern and unique engagement ring. I would be proud to wear a ring like that!

Any chance you can post some bigger pictures? It looks beautiful, but I''d love to see a big close-up so I can get my drool on!

I''m absolutely shocked people are reacting badly to your ring. Seriously, how rude!

I think colored diamonds are MUCH more interesting than the colorless ones and are often indicative of a more sophisticated taste.

Congratulations on your engagement!

maybe this will post bigger?

ignore the fingerprint on the table of the diamond :) this is totally helping my mood, hearing from all of you!

the brilliance of the diamond isn''t as great as in "real life" but you get the idea!

i LOVE IT! I love semi bezels as well. They obviously don''t know Diamonds!

That looks like a very pretty color and a really cool setting.

I think that you''re right that people don''t "get" colored diamonds. Maybe they''ve never seen/heard of one before. Maybe they are just jealous of you.

I think it looks really pretty! A lot of people aren''t clued in to unique things. I like having something that not everyone else has. I think your setting looks great too! Don''t let those not nice naysayers get you down!

Ooooh that''s gorgeous. Post more pics! I love how the yellow gold brings out the colour of the diamond, but then the platinum bezel makes the diamond stand out all on it''s own- best of both worlds! It''s beautiful. Enjoy it!

I think it''s really pretty! I love semi bezels too!

i read a lot about how with champagne diamonds they are better in a white/platinum setting so the contrast brings out the color, but i think the yellow gold really brings out the color!

thanks everyone!

It looks beautiful to me too! Some people just don''t appreciate things that aren''t the norm.

Your ring is beautiful! Don''t pay attention to nasty comments made by the rain-on-parade types. Those people are just a small part of the world. What really matters is how you feel about your ring regardless of what others think.

WHAT A BEAUTY YOU HAVE....VERY UNIQUE, TOO!

I love diamonds with color and it is a shame that the advertisements/vendors have made such a big deal about colorless diamonds being the "in" thing for engagement rings. What makes you happy is what matters most! Wear your beauty proudly!!!

You''re kidding right? There''s absolutely NO WAY anybody could say they didn''t like your ring???? OMG are they nuts?

I wonder if it''s the bezel setting that people don''t like? Some people adore them, others don''t and it seems to provoke more of a reaction than, say, a classic setting. Having said that, I love the two tone gold you''ve used AND it compliments your central diamond beautifully.

As Tourmaline Lover has already mentioned (thank you for the lovely mention TL), finding a great champagne, brown or coloured diamond is sooooooooo difficult. There are rubbish ones and then there are the yummy ones. Yours is definitely a yummy and I''d be proud to have it in my collection.

Has it been certified by any chance? The reason I ask is that is actually looks more yellow than champagne but that could be the photo/lighting/reflection of the setting.

You must enjoy your ring and remember it''s unusual and unique and you are in a small exclusive club of coloured diamond owners.

Sending you (((((hugs))))). Don''t let anybody put your lovely ring down or take the shine off it for you.

What do you mean when you say "they seem to hate it?" Do they comment on the stone or the setting? The stone is absolutely awesome

and I would drool on it if I saw it in person. But perhaps the bezel and the shank are too heavy for it?

ETA: Tip to get over their comments? Hang out with us more and them less!

loving diamonds: it''s not certified that I know of....i notice that the color shifts depending on the lighting. its sometimes a more brown color, and sometimes a really faint yellow....its crazy how different it can be, but so beautiful!

cinnamon 013: i think the bezel and shank are too heavy too! my mother had a much larger oblong stone in the setting before, so i think when her and my fiance planned to put this stone in, they didn''t account for how much smaller it would be.

i am not getting married for another couple years, but i am already looking into a matte-gold bezel setting that is smoother and more feminine. my poor fiance! haha......

I love your ring! I''m actually milling over the idea of getting a champagne/cognac/chocolate diamond for a RHR in the very near future. Colorless (or near colorless) diamonds are boring!

Everybody and their dog has one.

Interesting! I wonder if it has a touch of fluor? Do you have a UV light to test it?

One thing I would suggest .......... if you''re thinking of having it re-set and staying with a bezel, keep to the same colours because they really enhance the diamond. It''s very very very easy to get it wrong with coloured diamonds and yours is perfect. The only thing I would personally change, is to make it slightly more delicate looking (thinner band, thinner bezel etc). It''ll be easier to wear with a wedding band if it''s slightly skinnier. Other than that, I think you''ve done a stunning job - please don''t change the gold colours! I am speaking from past horrible experiences of getting it wrong!!!

i cannot believe someone would say they don''t like your ring - that is so tacky and rude. Your ring is gorgeous and unique - wear it in the best of health and don''t give another thought to those OTHER opinions!

Add me to the list of champagne diamond lovers!

I love all the warmer colors, I''d take a yummy warm tone diamond over a bright white any day!

I think your ring/diamond is very pretty! If you aren''t happy with the setting though, that''s one thing...go ahead and get what you are comfortable with and enjoy your diamond! It is special and unique!

I am in a pinch with my champagne diamond, I LOVE the color of mine too, it is very pretty and sparkley, but it cracked after it was recently set into my new ring...I''m still wearing it, but I''m not sure when or if it will crack all the way through someday, if so, I know I''ll have a hard time finding one as pretty to replace it...no two are alike, that''s for sure.

i went to a jeweler today to see if they could slim the band and they said no because the inside of the band is hollow dues to some minor design work on the side. i didn''t object because they were being kinda rude! i thought that most goldsmiths could make anything come to life within reason?? i am going to go to a different jeweler on wednesday to see if they say the same..

Which country are you in? I''m sure we could all recommend people in our respective countries!!!!

You may need to have your ring re-made to make the differences. It''s difficult to tell without seeing it but it shouldn''t be too expensive.

Hope that helps.

Beautiful!!!

FYI weddings bring out the crazy in people. You could fill a journal with all the thoughtless things people will say between now and your wedding. The same thing happens with kids. When someone tells you their child''s name, the only proper reaction is,"What a lovely name." Same thing with a ring.

Wear it in good health and in a long lasting happy marriage!!!!!!
