D&T,
That''s a lovely bezel setting where the sides are so thin. It makes the center stone look bigger and stand out.
Thanks Chrono!.....

23gb9v- Keep us posted what you decide? when will you know?

Wow. I LOVE your gorgeous champagne diamond! It looks very beautiful and rich! Don''t worry about other peoples'' opinions. They don''t know anything!

I see 61 responses to this thread, mine is 62 - and I love it too!

of the 62 responses none of us dislike it! Apparently, there are some people out there with bad taste. LOL... but none of them are here.

So, you have a few choices, be thankful that you are in the lucky bunch to have the exquisite taste and to have found PS, when the time is right and you are ready to reset that beauty take some of the advice given here and elsewhere on the forum and make those incredibly rude people so green with envy that they won''t know what hit them and they will be sorry they ever opened their damn mouth to begin with - rude, I tell ya, just rude!

so i''ve been reflecting a lot today.....taking in consideration all you have had to say....but of course it''s my fiance who says the most perfect thing....

he is aware of how sensitive I am to others'' judgements....and he said, "there will always be someone else who has something better or shinier than you" and its so true.

my ring is gorgeous. i look at it ever chance i can. no, its not prefect or ideal to me, and i could spend the money to slim the shank down, but then again, i can put that money towards a new setting for when we get married in two years! this has been a learning experience as i know that i LOVE the bezel setting and the yellow gold. no question.

thanks for everyone''s advice and kind words. i have been "lurking" here for quite awhile, admiring the support that everyone gives.....its so great!

Wow, that is beautiful. I love champagne diamonds.

I LOVE your ring and the story behind it is even better! What a thoughtful man! Wear it with pride realizing those rude people have no idea what they are talking about.

You just need to ignore others. If you love it, then that is all that matters. I think that it is lovely. It is unique and not the everyday engagement ring that you see on everyone''s else''s hand nowadays.

I love champagne/cognac/brown diamonds! They have so much character -- it seems like you have a different stone each time the lighting changes. I also like the fact most people don''t know what the heck they are. They tend to think it''s just another (ho hum) stone until the light hits it, then suddenly they get real curious about what it is! And above all, I love that your fiance chose a stone that''s meaningful to him to give to you.

I''m glad the setting is growing on you too. You''re the one who will be wearing the ring, and *ahem* true connoisseurs (like those of us on PS... not to toot our collective horn) will recognize that you''re wearing a one-of-a-kind work of art.

But... if you decide to change up the setting, carving is another option, especially since you''re near Van Craeynest.

I cant belive anyone was rude, mean and ignorant enough to say those things to you.

What you have is truely unique and unfortunatly some people can''t handle anything abit different from the norm.

It is a beautiful rock and a beautiful setting. I know all too well how the wrong metal colour can kill a coloured daimond (an unfortunate $200 mistake) while the right metal can bring it to life. I am also far too sensitive about other peoples comments and opinions...

I also will have a coloured diamond for my e-ring (see avatar) and love the way the stone changes colours in differnt lights and is unique.

Congradulations of your engagment and boo to those people rude enough to bring you down.

WOW! Your ring is amazing!!

And yes, you`re totally correct, people just don''t get champagne diamonds. Really, majority of people ''out there'' don''t get diamonds at all. They don''t really care about them, and can''t handle anything ''out of ordinary''. Most important is that you love your ring - what is there not to love about it? It`s stunning!

YEAH---

I''m glad its a keeper. Its gorgeous,,, yes, don''t let anyone bring you down.

What a pretty diamond! I''m glad you''re coming to terms with it. Lots of folks do not "get" colored stones. I prefer color over a white diamond any day.

Your stone has a lot of personality and something to be very proud to own.

You are on your way with your fiance to a long and happy life together. I hear it in your voice. Congrats, I am truly happy for you. As you make decisions along the way, you should feel proud that you are giving them thought and effort. So if and when you choose to change something, it will be based on your decisions, not pressure from others. That is the best way to live.

ohhh, that is GORGEOUS!!!

I just don''t think the average person knows or cares about diamonds all that much, let alone interesting stones like colored diamonds and gemstones. Take tons of photos for us, we will drool all over our computers!!!

People get flipped out over diamonds having any color in them! I don''t understand that at all! Congratulations on your beautiful ring!!

Your diamond is absolutely GORGEOUS!

I love it :) Don''t listen to people''s rude comments... they probably just have no idea what they are looking at!

i just got engaged three weeks ago, and my fiance got me a beautiful 1.23 champagne diamond in a half bezel setting. The only thing is, everyone seems to hate it! Its really bringing me down. any tips on how to get over it?

I''m late to this thread, but in a way quite pleased to be posting on the end of everyone''s supporting commnents. I am sure that by now you are feeling so much better. I think your diamond is just beautiful. I come from a land where the 2ct white solitaire is not as prevalent as it is in the US and we see a lot more colour in engagement rings, which I think makes them look unique and special. The people who have been critical of your ring need to get a bit more global awareness!

I picked my ring out because the centre stone reminded me of the first bottle of vintage Veuve Cliquot champagne I shared with Mr Gailey. 18 years down the road I still love it as much as I did then.

You go girl!

I think you have a gorgeous Champagne diamond and a very special fiance. Congrats on both fronts!

Rather than modify the current setting (which I actually think is cool and unique), I would save the money and have it re-set later when you are ready to choose wedding bands, so both rings will be designed to go together. D&T''s Whiteflash setting is lovely, and I bet WF could make you a similar setting with a yellow gold shank and a white gold or platinum head.
