Are you sure you can''t bump that visit up a few weeks? Can you just imagine the THREE of us terrorizing Michigan Avenue all at the same time?! They''d likely have to shut the street down to recover!

oh that would be a riot for sure!!

I''ll wave to y''all!

Do stop by Millenium Park, the Lakefront and all of the other Chicago "jewels"!

Graff''s!!
This is where I tried on the million $$ necklace.

Frontera Grill is my current favorite. The margaritas are to die for. If you want a reservation, call promptly at 8:30 am in the morning. That way you don''t have to wait the 2 hours for a table. Might be easier on a Thursday night. Just call ahead to find out.

ENJOY your trip.

Oh, how fun! Add me to the list of those wishing we could come along! We lived outside of Chicago when we first got married, but back then we went to museums when we went into the city and not jewelry stores! So I haven''t been in most of those stores either. I''d have to go with someone like Dee Jay or I''d be much too timid to ask to try on anything! I honestly would probably buy a Cartier trinity ring, though!

Take some pictures for us, Ellen! Even if it''s just the outside of the stores! We can always dream!

jas, thanks!

Allison, omg, I forgot about that necklace! Wow, I guess they DO let you try stuff on.
9.gif
And thanks for the resturant tip!

ds, I know about the timid thing. I don''t know if I could ask or not, although, I have gotten more brazen in my old age.
11.gif
And yes, I''ll try and take lots of pics!

I am getting so excited! I can''t believe I get to meet Miss DeeJay, AND go bling shopping with a pro.

Ellen, if I could get that Friday off work I would love to join you and DeeJay!!! You couldn''t have chosen a better time of year (although I know you''ll be in town for a wedding) to visit Chicago, it will be beautiful!

DeeJay, what about CD Peacock? I''ve never been in one, but I know there is one downtown and one out by us in Oakbrook...just wondered if you''re familiar with them and if that might be a worthwhile stop for you guys?

Regular Guy: Billy Goat Tavern--a fun place for sure, but I don''t know about mixing their "gruff" (pardon the pun) attitude and luxurious bling activities, although maybe the contrast would be nice...lol!

Oh Monnie that would be great!

CD Peacock is OK, but I think of it as a maul store. Maybe my jewelry snobbery unnecessarily crept in there and we should include it on the list. Up to Ellen though--it''s her party!

Monarch, that would have been fun!! And lol @ the "contrast".
9.gif

Oh gosh, I don''t know. Let''s hit the others, and if there''s still time and we''re not too pooped, maybe we''ll hit that too.

DeeJay, you will get a kick out of this. I stated once before that hubby doesn''t get me talking to you people. He thinks it''s weird, lol, but he''s learned that it makes me happy. So, he pretty much lets it go. So I''m taking my son (he''s 17) to the docs and I tell him I''m going to meet you. He was like, "Oh no, that''s weird. I''m not letting you. She could be a "he", a murderer, you don''t know".

I started laughing and told him it was ok, and you were definitely a "she" as I had seen your picture. He looked at me and said, "Yeah? How do we know that wasn''t his last victim"??

I haven''t gone in because I''m a big ...
LOL! For heavens sake, what are you scared of? BUYING something??!!

No, I''m just missing the confidence gene!

You guys are going to have so much fun. I''m jealous! We''re going to be in Chicago sometime in June, but I''m wishing it was the same weekend you''ll be there, Ellen.

Las Vegas!!!

No worries on the C.D. Peacock, just thinking it is Chicago-exclusive, no? Please correct me if I''m wrong... and you''re right, DeeJ, it is more "maul" than "jeweler" but I get their catalogs for kicks and thought it might be a random point of fun to be had, hee hee.

Ellen, when I went with DeeJay and IrishAngel and CatMom to the December Gem Show by O''Hare I had a helluva time convincing DH that I would come out of there alive when he found out I was meeting "online" friends from PS! Since then he has mellowed quite a bit regarding the whole PS meeting thing...in fact I would love to get him to take that Friday off as well and come downtown with me, he could go and visit friends of his while I go window shopping! I''m glad our men are doing a good job looking after our best interests and safety, though, I wouldn''t want it any other way. Sometimes it''s difficult to explain these things, though! If it would be any consolation, you can show him the thread of the chicago gem show get together (I will try to dig it up and post it on your thread here), there are pics of all of us on it.

Hey, contrast is where it''s at...otherwise you''d just be buying plate glass mirrors to put on your fingers!

I am not a fan of Vegas, but DH could gamble while I looked at jewels, so we''d both win (even though I like NYC so much better!!!).

Monarch, that''s the funniest part of all this. Hubby seemed ok with me going, it was my son, who talks to people online himself that got protective! But you''re right, it is only cuz they love us. And honestly, I was on a board where enough info was given by some people that other people were going to their jobs, harrassing them, calling their homes, etc. One does have to be careful...

Where is CD Peacock located? I''m just affraid we may not have time or be too tired. But maybe I could hit it up Thursday afternoon.

lol@Ira!

Ellen, CD Peacock is actually very close (a few blocks) from your hotel. It''s on the southwest corner of Michigan and Wacker (520 N. Michigan). To put it in context, it''s about half way between our adventure up Michigan Avenue and where Jeweler''s Row is. If you do to CD Peacock, Marshall Pierce has a store directly across the street to the east. It''s tiny, but they have some nice things.

Thanks Dee, maybe I''ll hit that up first and get my feet wet.

I just had to tell this story, it was too funny, and a first.

The shoe thing has been bugging me. The only for SURE pair I have that I know I can wear for hours walking are not the most stylish. So I was at Target picking up essentials and strolled through their shoes just to see. I found a cute pair of pink flip flops, with a really thick cushy sole. Tried them on, soooo comfy.

I tried walking in them as much as the rubber band tag connectors would allow. Everything seemed great.

Got home, cut them apart, put them on and walked brisky down my hall. Hmmm, what''s that sound?? Turned around and did it again. The band on the left shoe was rubbing against my foot, and sounded like I was passing gas every time I took a step. EVERY time.
