Nice!! Please give your honest opinion about the mounting.

Hey TL! Ok. I received it this Monday. First: I am EXTREMELY picky. I have 6 ring boxes that hold 72 rings EACH. I do NOT have any 10k gold. (I have other boxes for my sterling silver rings), so I am no stranger to jewelry. I have ALOT of loose stones, but am just starting to think about setting them. I have set a couple so far. With that said, this mounting is substantial. It has a good weight to it. It is stamped 18K and has the color of 18k, nice and buttery. The diamonds are small, but well set. I have run my fingers over all the stones, and I do not feel a stone out of place, as well as examing them with a magnifying glass (I use this when I make beaded jewelry, which I sell), and my 10x loupe. The diamonds are set straight, not all crooked. They all match, there are no stones that seem out of place and darker than any other and no cloudy white stones. AND, they have a really nice sparkle in all types of lighting. And there was no damage to the emerald, no scratches or niks. OH, and the price for upgrading the gold was well worth it. Not a bad price AT ALL considering the carat weight. Oh, it cost about $30 to send to the setting manufacturer, but that is not bad considering the shipping charge was included in my initial purchase, and they had my stone within 4 days.

I will be using them again, probably to set the new tsavorite and the imperial malaya garnet I just got (I have not posted photos of that yet).

Very beautiful.
I'd love to have a fine emerald some day.

Beautiful, it looks huge on you!

HI:

Such presence! I am a green goblin myself....

cheers--Sharon

Lovely! Green colored stones are my fave  The setting looks very well made too

Beautiful emerald!!!

The setting really enhances the stone and it looks very substantial on your hand! I'm sure you are in heaven with this new ring!!

Very blingy! Congrats on the successful setting!

Thanks for the review, I'm so glad it turned out well for you. :appl:

It does look very substantial. I love mine as well, although I ordered them in primarily 14K rose gold, they're nice rings with a lot of metal.

Gorgeous setting - was it from LOGR?

Killer stone! I am impressed :))

Barrett, thank you. I have fallen in love with pear shape rings. And emeralds. And rubies. And sapphires. And and and and.... and so on. Can't seem to stop my self.

Webdiva, the setting came from diamondmounts - http://myworld.ebay.com/diamondmounts/
I've never used LOGR. I really like diamondmounts. They go out of their way to get it right. I was not even worried sending my emerald to them. After all, they are manufacturers of the setting, and stone setters. This is the fourth setting I've received from them. This setting actually had VS diamonds in it, but they have other settings that state SI diamonds. You can email them and pay a little more to have them make whatever setting you like in VS instead, and also 18k or rose gold, etc. Although I am ALWAYS nervous when I send a stone somewhere, each time I've used this vendor, I have had no problems. But I do write/send EXPLICIT reminders of what I want and what I paid for, when I send the stone, so there are no mistakes. (My sister bought one of their settings and sent her stone, but they made a mistake and set it in white gold instead of rose gold like she asked for. She complained and they were going to pay to have it returned to them to change it out, but my sister grew to like it. So diamondmounts refunded her a nominal $20 because of their mistake, just for customer goodwill. I thought that was nice.)

If you use them, hope you have a nice experience.

I just thought I should point out that since 18K is rather soft, and you have a large stone there (a 3 carat emerald looks like a 4 to 5 carat something else since beryl is not dense), you may want to add extra prongs to the sides of the setting. I think it would be more secure. Sorry I forgot to mention it, as diamondmounts could have added extra prongs for an extra charge.

I added four extra prongs to my 4 carat mint garnet setting after it was a little loose in there (similar setting from diamondmounts). I would DIE if I lost my stone. The v-prong is nice, but it's not enough for full security on a large gem.

A very substantial setting; lots of gold and lots of diamonds. Is it comfortable to wear?

Hi TL. I wish I would have thought about that when I was ordering. It is a good point. Wonder if jeweler can/or should I chance adding them now?

Chrono. It is surprisingly comfortable. And the stones set into the band, you can hardly feel when you run your finger over them. They are really very well set.

I've had issues with 18K prongs, so people should beware, especially if you intend on wearing a piece often.

Very glamourous and eyecatching! Enjoy!
