Actually LD, I''d agree with the cert... pinkish, but a ruby. Great cut! And that marquise...
Pandora - nice stone, beautiful ring! (Who is Timmy???)
These aren''t large, but they are nice colour (less pink, more red IRL) and invisibly set (except for the fingerprints...)

Ruby ring in 14k gold. This little ruby will have to do me until I grow up..67 ct untreated Burmese ruby from Dutton''s Diamonds. When the sun hits it just so, the glow is amazing.

In the meantime, you can always post old pics of the ruby
Although I''d prefer to wait until I can post new pics of the reset taken in incandescent or day light (when rubies look best), here is one old pic for now (the old pics were taken in the evening when the star ruby looks a little dull IMO):

Thank you, whitby. I was planning on adding some handengraving, but I liked this setting the way it was, so I left it alone.Date: 5/1/2009 9:20:42 PM

Some really beautiful stones in this thread, but I have to say that LD''s setting choice for that hexagon is really something. Sure, two points are still exposed, but you can''t really have it all with these cuts I guess. Baguettes really flatter the stone and give the ring a nice flow, and a real sense of balance.
I''m loving all the lovely rubies!Date: 5/1/2009 4:26:52 PM

Last one! Now this is interesting. It is certified as a Ruby BUT where is the line between a pink sapphire and a Ruby? To my mind, this is more pink sapphire. Having said that, in real life it''s less pink and slightly more red but I''m not convinced!!! Again though, I bought this for the cut.
