Just wanted to add another vote - I like the dress on you a lot! I''d be interested as some others were to maybe see it strapless, but I do think it''s still beautiful as is. I do like the hoops in it. Just wanted to chime in though and say that I think you look great and the dress is beautiful!

I showed the fitting pictures to a work colleague today and she thinks the chunky black necklace spoiled the look of the halter and that I should try it again without it on and see how I feel. I still think if I a to go with a halter itneeds serious work.

My mum told me today she would be a little disappointed if I go strapless as she loved the halter idea and didn''t really want tme to be strapless like every other bride. Oh dear!

Hehe tell her not to worry, not everyone does strapless! My FI didn't want me to wear strapless either b/c he thought it looked really funny in all the model pictures I'd show him. I even went as far as to not search for strapless at first. But them my mom grabbed a really pretty strapless and convinced me to try it on. Low and behold, I ended up with a strapless one... and FI actually really likes strapless on me after he saw pictures of me in some of the various ones I tried on! So maybe your mom just needs to see it first to see if she likes it on you - because honestly, I think once someone gets the dress on, you look so unique in it, that it really doesn't matter if it's the same "style" as anyone else.

Do you have a vision for how you ultimately want the halter to look? It was hard for me to tell in the picture how it's done.

merrymunky, don''t worry about the first fitting. I remember my first fitting I totally second guessed my dress. There was another dress that I was considering, but couldn''t find it in stores to try on and I was not going to order the dress sight unseen. I wasn''t sure if I had made the right decision. Once the dress was altered to fit me better, I warmed up to it. By my wedding day, I couldn''t help but fall in love with my dress and how it made me feel. You look beautiful in your dress and I love the simple detailing.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE the dress. As I say, I live in jeans and vest tops etc, so this a complete change for me as it is. A dress of any sort would look like an improvement I guess.

I love the dress, I love the brooch, I love the beadwork etc. Not TOO fussy for me, beautiful and classy. I see other dresses I absolutely covet, but I know on the day I will feel just right in this dress.

Luvthemstrawberries - Initially we just tied the straps round the back of my neck and it looked fab. This time around though, it just seemed off somehow. Maybe they can compact the material, use less of it or something to make the halter. Even maybe use the cutoffs from the bodice to form a more sturdy underlayer then just ass one layer of the tulle net tightly bound to the straps and re-add some of the beads?

I have no idea. I would have to talk it over with the salon. They rang my Mum today as they have her as the main contact since she paid for it. I am required to ring them back so I will have to do that in my lunchbreak tomorrow.

I think maybe that''s what it was - maybe it seemed like a lot of material, compared to the sleekness of the rest of the dress. The straps were kind of poofy. It''s hard to lay a finger on. Haha but I am the absolute LAST person to know what to do with that. Maybe someone more style-knowledgeable around here can give some advice. I definitely think the salon would be able to give some suggestions. Let us know what you end up doing with it, because I think the dress is very pretty on you!

Yeah, I definitely think that if they thinned it out and flattened it somehow it MIGHT work.

I am ringing the salon today so I will keep you all posted!

You look great sweetie, and I too think you should look at making it a strapless.

I wanted to point something out, and I don''t want you to be offended! I too am a curvy lady, and I just thought spaghetti straps may not look great. Spaghetti straps look great on tiny arms and shoulders, which is the reason I steer away from them. They may make your shoulders look wider than they actually are. I avoid spaghetti straps for this reason, I have chubby arms and feel that thin straps make my arms and whole general front torso area look wider than I really am.

I hope I don''t offend you with this post, I really wouldn''t want you to think I am being a b*tch, just coming from my own experience here.

Hey, sweetie, you and your dress are gorgeous!!!

I think a future version of myself could''ve written most of your post (future because I haven''t gone dress shopping yet
3.gif
). I live my life in jeans, t-shirts and flippy-floppies whenever possible, so putting on so much as a skirt is a big deal, but a dress, and a WEDDING dress?!

Oh I think that is going to be quite an adjustment for me. Plus, I am dreading going dress shopping because I''m worried about looking blobtastic as I don''t have a defined waistline (although I have to say, looks like you have some sexy curves there, lady! I think maybe you really do have some curves but don''t give yourself any credit for them, hmm?
2.gif
). So, in short, I feel you, honey!

Let me ask you a question--if they go to fix the halter and it''s still not quite right, would you be open to a strapless dress if you got a little shrug or something? Just a thought!

Honey - I don''t take offense at all. I am grateful for honest opinions. However, I do wear vest tops most of the time so I am used to spaghetti style straps. I''m not really up on what looks best on me at all due to my mostly negative view of ANYTHING I wear anyway so I don''t know really how they look on me to the casual observer.

But I do see exactly where you are coming from. I want to look extra special on the big day.

Aw Gwen, thank you for the lovely comments! I''m glad to know that there are other people out there who share my dread. (Once you get to the boutiques though, it''s nowhere near as bad as you expect!
9.gif
)

I myself live in vest tops, t shirts, v neck jumpers etc and skate shoes. I never wear sandals, flip flops etc and rarely wear a notmal pair of shoes. Etnies all the way for me! So I have the added stress of learning to walk again in heels and a long dress!

Oh and believe me, I definitely do not have a defined waist line, rather two bulges...the top one from under my bust to my waist is larger than the one from there down! It''s awful. I only have curves in these photos thanks to the wonderful lace up back on the dress! I''ll have to find a photo of me in all my blobby glory for you to show you the difference!

I HAVE thought about the strapless/shrug combo myelf and yes I wold be open to it if the worst came to the worst.

that fabric is soo Fabulous!

I have spoken to the boutique today. I have another appointment NEXT Saturday to discuss the strap issues. Thank goodness. I''d rather get it sorted sooner rather than later.

This will all work out. Good luck this weekend! I can''t wait to hear about your decisions!
