Fix for a flipping pendant?

I had this pendant custom made by WF exactly 10 years ago, to go with my Umbalite Garnet ring. I love the design but honestly I don't wear it very often because it flips all the time and I find it incredibly annoying. I wanted a slider pendant rather than a fixed one, and I still like the movement it has, but it's flipped more often than not so I end up going for other pendants. Which is a shame since this is one of my favorite pieces otherwise.

I'm finally thinking about getting it corrected. Figured I can't be the only one who's run into this and someone here would've gotten it corrected.

Terrible photos of the pendant showing how it's built.

It might flip less of the chain was closer together.

Like right now it's like this

The chain is your problem. Change out the chain---try a snake chain.

I solved this problem with a bezel set diamond pendant by having small gold beads-the type used to size rings-soldered to the inside of the bezel. The extra weight at the bottom seems to help stabilize the pendant. Don’t know if it would work with your setting...

If you had the chain going through one bar instead of two?

Beautiful pendant! The problem is that the front of the pendant (the stone) is heavier than the back (open gallery). If you add some sort of counter weight to the back/bottom it should help. If you are considering a re-set, I highly recommend CvB. She has made several pendants for me and she is always conscientious of designs that will preventing flipping.

If you wore it on a stiff wire choker instead of a chain it never would be able to flip. A heavier and somewhat stiffer chain would be less inclined to allow flipping over, but it still may happen now and then. If the chain you wear it on was made short enough to bring the drop close up to your neck, then the flipping opportunity would be minimized since the shorted and nearly tight chain can't allow easy flipping. A longer length readily allows such pendants to flip easily.

David has nailed it. A heavier chain will help, a stiffer chain will help, wide is good, shorter length is good, a wire choker guarantees no flipping, unless you put it on backwards and if the chain is more than 20-24 inches long, it won't matter much what you do, it will be flipping enough to drive you crazy.

Thank you for the recommendation. I never thought about switching out the chain, this is the chain that came with the pendant so I always wore it that way. I'll definitely try a stiffer/heavier chain to see if that helps. That would be an easy fix at least.

If the new chain doesn't solve the problem enough, I'll have to try adding the weight as recommended. @OECrystal, while I would LOVE to own a CvB piece one day, this pendant is quite sentimental as it was custom made & purchased for my wedding so I'll never re-set it. I do however have several loose stones I wouldn't mind sending to CvB for something special ;)2
