Food for thought - what financially conscious guys would spend for a ring

Even very late in that bogleheads conversation, there were a couple of pretty nasty posts about how feeling competitive with a sister was a droppable offense! (Although there seemed some very nice posters, as well)

I honestly think that many less reflective men have absolutely no idea how important an engagement ring is! I found the receipt for my husband''s Christmas gift to me this year. He spent about the same as he did on my original ENGAGEMENT ring!!

(that''s a reflection on how much the original ring cost, not on how extravagant my Christmas present was, btw)
not that I really mind, I know I''ll get a nice one in the end now.

a lot of women, including me, would prefer for their engagement ring to be one of the most special pieces of jewellery they own. It''s not just a Christmas present! It means so very, very much more.

Oprah?! No way. Ex-Sydneysider here.

We might very well meet -- Sydney's my favourite city and I plan to visit more often.

Oh really I never knew Harriett, my apologies, lol...the reason I said that is because Hugh Jackman just gave the whole audience Tim tams when on Oprah to promote Australia the movie..tee hee..
