For my 23rd Wedding Anniversary, a 1.76 CBI in the perfect Sholdt setting

I received my ring from High Performance Diamonds a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t be happier.

I initially had chosen the cathedral setting however the setting was much, much too high for me. I contacted Melissa the same day (probably within the hour!) and made arrangements to send the ring back for a setting change. I like very low maintenance, low profile with delicate prongs....

Melissa aka @Winks_Elf went to work to find me another setting.
A few days later I received an email stating that she had found the “perfect setting” for me. A setting that was designed by Sholdt back in 1935. A design was put away in their safe until only recently. Perhaps taken out just for me. Because it’s perfect for me.

It’s been quite a journey to get to a 1.76 CBI!

When my husband and I got married in 1996 I dreamed of a 1ct diamond solitaire. We settled on a 1ct eternity ring in 14k white gold with a 1.8mm 14k yellow gold band on either side. I wore these rings for 10 years!

For our 10th anniversary I purchased a preloved .88ct old European Cut diamond in an antique 14k white gold setting. I’ve posted pictures of it on PriceScope before but I’ll attach one here in case anyone’s interested. It’s the first picture. I wore this ring for another 10 years!

For our 20th anniversary, right before I found PriceScope, I purchased a pre-loved 1.14ct GVS1 genuine Tiffany solitaire ring At last, a solitaire!! I thought it would be perfect...but alas it wasn’t. It didn’t wow me. The setting was a bit uncomfortable and the diamond, meh. Second picture....

So then PriceScope came into my life. I read about cut, HCA, idealscopes, etc etc. Good grief lots to learn!

I sold my 1.14ct Tiffany & Co. ring at a loss....and bought a 1.4ct GVS1 ACA from Whiteflash. Boy what a difference! It was stunning however I longed for at least 1.5ct. DSS? I’d say yes.

Then as many of you know I broke my wrist in January....slipped on the ice, needed surgery, needed physical therapy and needed mental stimulation?

I started looking for an ACA that was a bit bigger. I found the 1.6ct GVS2 that fit the bill. Gorgeous diamond. Even nicer proportions to my eyes than the 1.4ct.

So here’s where it gets complicated.....

This past Christmas, before I broke my wrist, I bought my first CBI diamond.
OMG it was stunning!!! I had it set in a bezel pendant custom made by High Performance diamonds. There was something about it, it sparkled like mad. It had a glow from within. I can’t explain it.

When I began this upgrade journey I’ve always thought that my ideal diamond would be no more than 2 carats. Absolutely no one in my circle of friends wears anything bigger than a 1 carat. I don’t think I would feel comfortable wearing bigger especially being a size 4.5....

One Friday I happened to lay my eyes upon a 1.98 HVS2 at Whiteflash for a very reasonable amount more than my 1.6ct. It was perfect, just below 2 carats so a nice price savings there. I emailed to reserve it right away. Unfortunately by the time I heard back, it was sold. I was so disappointed.
But it wasn’t meant to be.

So here’s where High Performance diamonds comes in. I ended up reaching out to Melissa to see what my options were. Ever since the purchase of my CBI pendant, I’ve wondered about owning a CBI solitaire ring....after all, the only time I could see it was in the mirror!
So @Winks_Elf and @Wink made it happen.
I put all my eggs in one basket and bought this glorious 1.76 H VS2 CBI in the Sholdt setting.
I’ve actually been debating about posting this part as I’ve had wonderful customer service from Whiteflash and their ACA diamonds are gorgeous. I don’t have a bad thing to say about them.

What tipped the scale for me was that High Performance diamonds had what I wanted and their 80% buy back policy for life. I don’t know of any other company that has this option.

So there’s my life story regarding diamonds....

One day l’ll replace my CBI diamond pendant but for now I can stare at my finger.
