Fragrance of the Day Thread

Hilde Soliani Sweet Parmesan Violet today.
Powdery Parma violet. Not parmesan cheese!

I love parma violet & "realistic" Violet scents. The Parmesan violet really reminds me of Insolence but I find it a tad sweeter & Insolence to have a slight note of ash or broken cigarette on my skin which I love.

I'm wearing a handmade violet perfume today to honor the memory of LemonMoonLex, who posted just above that she loved realistic violet scents.
I think I'm always going to think of her when I wear this.

The weather has turned a bit cooler. It's a perfect day for Creed Fleur de Thé Rose Bulgare.

HI:

Finally ordered my fav Rose 31 oil balm and body lotion from Le Labo in Vancouver. Should be here tomorrow!!! My BD present a few days early!!!!

cheers--Sharon

I LOVE colognes.
I recognize that fragrances are powerful.
They do something to you.
They have sort of a shortcut to an inner private personal place or emotional experience.

Unfortunately I can no longer indulge. :blackeye:
I live with Bibi and the respiratory systems of birds are very sensitive.
Bibi is usually on my shoulder and loves to snuggle and cuddle against your neck for warmth and love, usually the epicenter of a fragrance.

This sensitivity is why miners brought canaries into the coal mines with them.
When their canary dies (or stops singing???) it's time for the crew to vamoose because they've hit a pocket of toxic gas that humans can't smell!
Lovely, Huh! :knockout: Poor birdies. :cry2:

I've read that many fragrances have ingredients that birds should not be inhaling.
But, back during my few bird-less times, like 6 years active duty in the US military, I loved Halston Z-14, Aramis, Jovan Musk for men , and Davidoff Cool Water.
Jovan Musk was the only scent for sale in the store we could go to during boot camp.
Maybe that's why it immediately awakens strong ... erotic ... associations for me. :evil2:
Like I said, fragrances can do something to us.
I like what a fragrance does to me, much more than just liking the smell itself.
It can take you away to somewhere inside your mind.

My mom wore L'Aire du Temps, so whenever I pass near a person wearing it (can't say lady or woman any more   in fact, some men can menstruate and have babies now) 'momories' overwhelm me.
(Of course she couldn't afford their proper perfume, let alone that beautiful posh bottle.)
I think her bottle just said something in fancy-shmancy French like, ... EWWW the toilet water.
REALLY!??! ... Like EWW!!!

Jo Malone Scarlet Poppy. Not crazy about it but it's one of a zillion tiny perfume vials I'm working my way through. Sometimes I like a scent a lot better after a couple of hours but not this time. My favorite Jo Malone so far is Wild Bluebell, which I have a large bottle of.

HI:

Le Labo sent me lovely samples...and I look forward to using the shampoo and conditioner! I like scent in my hair. And I just used the last of the Malle Carnal Flower hair mist.

cheers--Sharon

@canuk-gal Happy early birthday and love the way you celebrate!

I'm so glad I found this thread... listened to a podcast recently and it was discussing how fragrance isn't good for your body and skin... blah blah blah. It made me rethink wearing perfume as it is a daily exercise. I guess there are worse ways to wear down your body. Anyone else have this fear?

Also, I seem to favor Chloe EDP and used up 1 bottle and am reconsidering a repurchase. Or does anyone have a recommendation on a similar scent?

Also thoughts on whether the Sam's retailer is selling the real product at a discounted price? I know I can always return if it something is off in the beginning. However, not sure how it might be 6 months from original purchase.

Thanks in advance!

No, I don't share this fear. I drink ETOH, don't always wash my lettuce, and probably have been exposed to death rays from Mars. So I'm gonna take my chances with scented products. :saint:

L'Artisan Jour de Fête today.

Ooooohh I like this thread
Does anyone else wear Ensar oud??
I’m wearing his latest Iris ghalia, the trifecta. My fav is version 3 but it is nearly unattainable and INSANELY expensive. So trifecta it is! I really enjoy it.

kenny, I loved all those scents. And Chanel Egoiste - the way they made it in the 70s and 80s. Scent works on a very old part of the brain and can take you back decades with a whiff.

Goddess by Burberry. I didn't care for it at first but it's grown on me.

I've gone through my fragrance wardrobe and looked at all the stuff thats in there (its a lot of stuff)

As with last year, next year will be a no buy year. I'll just use whatever is in there. The good is I'm not itching to add anything.

Yesterday and today I'm wearing Mona d'Orio Vanille. This house just recently ceased business which makes me very sad. I'm very lucky to have this bottle (I originally bought 2 for well under retail when they were 100ml) but now down to the one bottle and when its gone, that will be that.

Its such a gorgeous scent too.

HI:

I slathered on Chanel #5 body lotion today. Santa brings it for me every Christmas. Such a beautiful product that doesn't loose it scent. I love it!

cheers--Sharon

Yesterday I tried on some Le Labo fragrances.
Can someone share their opinion about Le Labo Fleur d'Oranger 27?
It reminds me of my childhood when neighbours' orange tree was blooming...I was totally in love with the smell!!!

Does anyone here wear Henry Jacques fragrances? Do you have a favorite??

Rose Bulgare Composee and La Nuit de HJ are my fav floral compositions, and I actually really like Ulysse and Blue Vanille even though they’re a little on the masculine side imo. Don’t care for their musk as it’s artificial and my nose has been spoiled on the real stuff :(

Yes, it does! Fresh!

Today I spritzed the tiniest amount of original formulation Carnal Flower from an official sample I've had forever. Well, since around 2011.
It's been wafting up at me all day. I don't wear tuberose generally -- too sweet-- but this one I like.

My absolute favorite. It is a great compilation. I'm happy it isn't spoiled.
