This is insanely awesome. Circe, you need to change your PS name to "FC Magnet"

WOULDN'T THAT BE AWESOME? But given how the process tends to go, the new handle might need to be something like "FC-OCD," or "FC-Addict" ....

P.S. - At the Armory Show this weekend I tried on a TWENTY CARAT french cut line bracelet. I think I may have actually swooned.

Please get all dressed up and blinged up and use these in class. You'll be the coolest most beautiful professor evah!

Hee, I would LOVE to do that. Of course, in my ideal world, I also get to wear my robes to teach, and get a rosewood lecturn with inlay work by Falize, so ... basically, I'm an Oxford don in the roaring 20s (with a budget). We all need our goals!

Circe, you have the most incredible eye for the most incredible pieces!!! This is amazing

Please tell me you took a pic! Or ten?

You are my hero! You don't even need a cap!!! Those are fabulous!

Ach! That bracelet was amazing. I can't believe that neither of us took pictures.

Not to threadjack, but how was the Armory Show? Just curious (although trying on a 20 ct dia line bracelet leads me to believe that the answer is that it was terrific!). Thanks for any thoughts/observations.

I agree with Kelpie; the appropriate word is FABULOUS!

Circe this is amazing! How do you find such incredible baubles? And french cuts again no less? This is another extraordinary piece. Enjoy it!

Oh Circe....

You're my hero.

Thank you, Scarlett! I'm like Jayne Mansfield when it comes to these things - this girl just can't help it.

I was too overwhelmed with greed to waste even a second with it fumbling for my phone (though I regret it now). The stall was Macklowe Gallery's, and though they don't seem to have it up on their site, I'm sure they'd e-mail shots to interested customers. In the meantime, the closest comp I can find is this slightly smaller one from Lang ... almost discreet at a mere 14 carats! http://www.langantiques.com/products/item/40-91-529

Why, thank you! I wonder what my name/superpower would be ... well, I guess the superpower is self-explanatory as an affinity for bling.

I will also out myself as a huge geek and say that Emma Frost of the X-Men can turn her skin to diamond. Imagine the refraction on that!

We were FOOLS. FOOLS, I tell you!

It was great, but it seemed smaller then it had been in past years. The dealers who came definitely brought their A game: between Macklowe, La Vielle Russie, Wartski's and S.J. Shrubsole, I felt absolutely glutted. And the crowd was great, full house on a Saturday afternoon. It seemed like it was the smaller dealers who were missing ... who knows what that's all about ....

Thank you! As for how? Lots and lots of wandering the jewelry district, most of the time, with the occasional lucky eBay find. Good thing I enjoy that sort of thing!

Why thank you kindly! I am flattered. ;))

You are my hero. Wow! I loooove how the back and sides are equally beautifully adorned. Why don't you take that baby out to see War Horse?

I'm gobsmacked! What a magnificent find. You be fancypantsin'! Bravo!! :appl:

Might I ask if the optician charged you above the norm to put scripts in? I'd imagine platinum is difficult to work with.

Cheers!

I like the way you think! I am looking forward to wearing it to the ballet, I have to admit. (I also have honest-to-god mother-of-pearl opera glasses to swap out, so I am historically accurate). It's nice for it to have a second life!

Thanks, Chumleygirl! Actually, he didn't - when I brought them in, I was nervous (the original, scratched lenses also had a chip that looked like someone had messed up the installation), but he whipped out a little screwdriver and showed me how they come apart. If anything, it was probably easier than some of the fittings he's done for me before with horn frames and the like ....

ETA: BTW, "you be fancypantsin" is now my new favorite phrase, and I may be deploying it at will and with great frequency. :praise:

That's fabulous! Truly haute spectacles. :appl:

And so glad you enjoyed my silly banter! Use it freely and in good health. :D

Cheers!
