Hi All,

I need help making a decision that I thought I could do alone. I'm replacing a damaged 1.63 G VVS2 XXX Strong Blue (HCA 3.9), insurance is paying online jeweler directly. Considering a faint fluorescence this time. Even though I love the magic strong blue makes  I just want the best performing stone (with strong blue or NOT) without any negative impact from anything! I can pass on strong blue if it's not too great for a G color.

I have two stones picked out there is a $1,000 difference between them, one is 1.61 VVS1 Strong Blue ( the cheaper) $16,500, the other is $ 17,500 1.63 VVS2 Faint. Since I had a strong blue before I'm sort of curious about the faint. The particular stone I have (my damaged) seemed to be dead outside store lighting. Do diamonds sparkle in natural non sunlight?
Not sure if the fluoro was killing the sparkle or if my stone proportions were lousy or a combo of both. Or too much fluorescence for a G color?

Which stone should I pick this time? HELP. I have the GIA Report numbers below.

Is there an advantage to fluorescence in a G color it seems like it's a crap shoot? I want to get the best looking and most valuable stone out of the two below. The advantage to getting the more expensive faint fluoro stone first is that if I don't like it I can exchange it for the other strong blue stone with no money out of pocket. But maybe the one I get first will look good enough, at that point then I let the better (cheaper one go)? HELP  Stone #2 is not as deep and has better crown angle, but strong blue!

Can't tell from reports which will be better can you guys?

Stone #1 GIA Report #6157683194 1.63 Faint HCA Score 1.9

Stone #2 GIA Report #5151918694 1.61 Strong Blue HCA Score 1.4

I need to make a decision by the morning :twirl: I appreciate any help you all can give :halo:

If you love the flor in your previous diamond then yes, just make sure there is no hazy or milky affect,
They are not worth as much as the faint flor stones yes its true but they are more beautiful if you like it which it seems you do

Is that the size you really want? Because you could go down to VS1 clarity and get a slightly larger stone. But as far as your old stone goes, a 3.9 HCA would be a stone we normally wouldn't recommend, so I think you'll definitely see improvement in performance with these new stones.

Okay, the 1.63 is too deep and faces up smaller than it could with less depth. (Stick with 60-62.3)

The 1.61 has great numbers, and I would definitely choose it over the other one. Even though the weight is a tiny bit less, it has a larger diameter than the other. Easy choice, but I'd personally go larger and go down to G VS1.

Oh, and the SBF is unlikely to be a problem in a VS-VVS clarity stone. My last diamond was a 1.58 G VS1 with SBF and I loved it! But I chose the 1.61 for you because of the cut being more likely to be best.

DS, I do not see the connection between clarity and the potential problems of a strong blue fluorescent. Why do you say this?
