Brad found another very nice cat's eye alex from the same parcel. It's slightly smaller at 4.1mm rather than 4.3, but the color change is gorgeous and I doubt I'll notice the size difference.

Sweet! :appl: These stones are such fun to play with. There's not only the colour change part but the cat's eye opening and closing.

I know this is probably worrying needlessly since Brad is so upfront about everything, but the photo has obviously been doctored in the second photo to make the stone the color it appears. You can see this quite obviously with the tweezers. My question to Brad would be (and maybe he already told you this) did he alter the photo in order to get the stone to more accurately reflect what he saw in hand? I would hate for you to purchase the stone and find out the color change is not as significant.

Knowing Brad, as I said, I would imagine he could not get the stone to show its reddish side on camera (what is that, the incandescent?) so he altered the photo to mimic what he saw in reality. But definitely check it... :praise:

Minou,
I purchased a cat's alex from Brad from the past and it is possible that he tweaked the picture, but what I saw in hand is the same colouration that I saw in the picture he sent me. This is the case where I don't mind photoshopping because it is done for colour accuracy, not to make the stone look better than it does IRL.

I concur completely, but I would think knowing Brad with his impeccable disclosure that he may have already alleviated the OP's concerns about this very issue and told her that he had manipulated the photo for the sole reason to more accurately reflect reality (hah! that's a pretty funny statement!)

Thanks for your concerns! Brad didn't mention any photo enhancement, nor did I ask. To be honest, I had noticed the different background/tweezer colors and just pinned it on different lighting/white balance issues. He in fact offered me my choice of two stones. He assured me the color change on this one was every bit as nice as the one he put up on his January page. There was a slightly larger one that didn't have quite as nice of a color change. You can see the background and tweezers look similar to the one I posted, so I really do think it's just a trick of the light.

I trust his description of the stones, and he of course has a return policy. Perhaps I'd be concerned buying this from another dealer, but not Brad (nor some of our other trusted vendors)!

Yeah I've had multiple purchase from brad including my most expensive stones and always found his photos to be fair and he himself lovely to work with. I've returned gems on occasion as well with no fuss.
