GemFever's New OEC & Vintage Wedding Set

It is gorgeous, despite the tragedy that your jeweler perpetrated on the poor setting, though it looks like it worked out in your favor, as it is stunning! The stone is lovely and I love that it's a complete set!
I think that a gold band could be worn with the set, I just think that the band you have with it now is too wide. A carved band would be gorgeous with it. I'm biased, because that's what I have (mine is rose gold), but I do think it would be beautiful with your set. Here's a photo...I got the ring on eBay for about $250.

Gem I love the detail of the shoulders on the setting!!! I usually don't love the fishtail head...but this ring had such a lovely delicate fishtail head before...it looks lovely now too, but man it was stunning before!

As a sidenote: Yenny do you have a thread on that gold band? and can you tell me where on ebay you got it? I am looking for EXACTLY that ring!!!

crazy gorgeous! I personally like the "after" better!!!!!!! Yummy!

:wavey:

VRBeauty -- thank you! That's my take on it now -- updated ring staying true to its roots :))

YT! You are a poet. The glowwy pic I'm attaching below is dedicated to you. Maybe I'll call this ring "Moonie" :rodent:

Thank you Alex T, missy, and lknvrb4!

Confection -- thank you! Here are the stats: 1.54ct K Si2, 7.01-7.32x4.48, table 47%, depth 62.5%. GIA cut grade is "Fair," and it's not the most symmetrical of stones (I think the culet is slightly off center, among other things), but I don't care

Monnyjay -- thanks! I feel like jewelers and hair stylists have this weird power over us... There was someone else on that list... oh yes, car mechanics :cheeky:

Yenny -- thank you! I'd love to get a ring like yours sometime... I agree the 3mm plain wedding band is too much. I was trying to hold on to it as an element of constancy in my ever changing erings... but it's ok. I'll just keep it safe in a jewelry box for now. But I do enjoy mixing metal colors, so some yellow will make it on my finger in the near future, I'm sure.

Thanks DS! Circe certainly knows the pains of a mangled setting. It's because I read her thread that I decided not to let the same jeweler try to "fix" it, and I'm very glad about that. I love this version of the ring, and who knows what else he might have ended up "fixing."

woofmama, thank you so much! :))

bbziggy -- Your ring is gorgeous!!! And a beautiful white color, too. And your earrings, OMG! Anyway, don't spend a moment being sad about your beautiful ring, rather spend that time planning how you're going to get an old-cut RHR. Something stunning to match your earrings, perhaps? :naughty:

Thank you FancyPants, backwardsandinheels, Catmom, Acinom, GoldFish, and motownmama!!!

A couple shots from today. One is dedicated to YT for her poetic words, the other I think is super cute because both the wedding band and the ering are throwing some fire. They're a team!

Last but not least, Linny if you see this, I made a vid 8) I don't know where to link it though because we aren't supposed to here. Mmm... I'll put it under my LT listing for the Silver & Garnet earrings.

I love the sentiment and it setting. I can see why you're so upset about the change - I would miss the 'picture frame' corners too, they're really special. I was considering having my ring 'worked on' but I think I'll leave it alone for a while. This is a great cautionary tale.

Even so, the scrolling shank and overall beauty is still maintained and I hope you enjoy wearing it!

It's absolutely stunning! I'm a big fan of fishtail prongs too and I'd be sad about them being changed, but I honestly think the new simpler prongs are a nice touch. That diamond has a lot of fire and the band is gorgeous! Enjoy your new baby!

I love it, it's perfect! :appl:

So happy for you, definitely worth the wait! :)

Was it that little Taco Bell dog that used to say...

I think I'm in LOVE!!! Very nice. The setting is Fabulous!!!

I've been lurking on Pricescope for years, and this is the first time I've posted. I have been following your story and WOW, this new stone is really wonderful. The setting: fantastic. So nice that you were able to keep the set together, and preserve a piece of historic artistry. That gorgeous stone is safe and secure and looks HUGE, and has a brilliant personality. I LOVE the sides of the ring that show that gorgeous antique handiwork. Honestly, every stone I've seen you pick has been fabulous. Enjoy this new set, it is GREAT. Post more pictures please. :))

I really love the new look! It makes your lovely stone really pop! Gorgeous!

wheeeee so happy for you!!!! Sad that they messed up the original box setting but I agree that the new one showcases your beautiful center stone better!!

OMG GEM! :appl:

Its so stinkin' white and soooo sparkly on the video! You nailed it on this one I think! It's really, really gorgeous and so bright too!!!

:lickout:

Gem, your new set is amazing!!! I love that there is such a sweet history behind the set and that the set is still together. While I am furious for you that the jeweler went ahead and changed the prongs without asking you, the ring did turn out beautiful. It is different, but definitely still gorgeous! Congratulations on the new set, enjoy!!! :appl: :appl: :appl:

Hubba hubba!

So beautiful, Gem! I love the sentiment and how lovely the rings look together as a set!!!

It is lovely!!! I am happy you found your ring :appl:

Thank you so much quaddio, iluvshinythings, two_little_birds, Trasid, LightBright, luv2sparkle, pandabee, linny, armywife, Midsommer, Hera, and Almond!

You gals rock! Half the fun of getting new bling is sharing on PS, so thank you for your lovely comments!

Armywife -- your new avatar!

Beautiful set and gorgeous stone GemFever! Wow, the diamond looks really big on your hand! :appl: Sorry about the surprise setting alteration, but it does look great and I love the details on the shank! You sound like you really love this set and I can see why, congrats!!

The shank is so beautiful! Definitely going in my favorites files. And the diamond looks fantastically bright and sparkly. If this is just a short term ring I can't wait to see your forever piece!

Thank you Junebug! The diamond feels *just the right size* to me. Not too big, not too small... I think this size (in this setting) feels pretty organic on my finger. :rodent:

Thanks Rosebloom! I'm loving this set so much that I think it will be a "long-term" temporary set. Upgrade fever has subsided... for now :naughty:

Thanks, my dear! I thought it was time for a change...there may be more changes to come in the near future, too. We will see! :Up_to_something:

Now, back to drooling over your beeaaaautiful set! :lickout: I love the new pictures you posted!

GemFever, your new set is incredibly sweet! I just love that the rings have stayed together over the years.

I'm sorry the setting didn't turn out as you hoped, but how fortunate that it's still so very lovely! Congratulations on a special find!

It looks wonderful on you Gem, though you know I'm one of the few who preferred the original. I was so sad to see what they did, but glad you are in a good place with it and like it because it does look great on you!

Gem has become quite the old cut selector! :appl:

Thank you so much Ganesha, bastet, and blingy! You are so sweet ::)

How in the world did I miss this!?!

How beautiful!!! You sure can pick an old cut, Gem! Seriously, amazing!

The faceting on this stone is really out-of-this world: just LOOK at the gorgeous flashes of light you're getting! And, as I said elsewhere, the set is really special. I think it looks fanTABulous on you. :appl:

Thanks valmanin and Circe!

I keep meaning to come back with more pics, but somehow I haven't gotten around to it. It's not a perfect OEC, but a sweet one 8)

So beautiful and unique. Congrats!

Thanks AnnaH!

I've been having some extra fuzzy lovey feelings for the 1.54 lately because it's been acting very pretty ::)

Here's a pic I couldn't help taking. The goal of the photo wasn't to capture the diamond (for once, haha!), but actually to see how a loose stone would look in the place of a pendant. The diamond distracted my attention just a bit ;)) You can't see any faceting or anything, but I love how it's just a blob of light! <3
