Gene's newest stones (precision gem)

Here’s the pad! Clearly, I need to buy more gemstones so I can get more practice taking pictures!

It‘s the first stone I’ve purchased from Gene. It’s gorgeous and I’m so happy with it!

It is gorgeous! :kiss2: What do you think you’ll do with it?

I got the 2295 montana sapphire. I'd been waiting for one for a while and was able to snag it back in May.

The top picture is more true to its color in person.

I'm at a loss as to how to get a setting for it. Does everyone usually go for custom? If so, any recs?

@Rubymal What are the sapphire measurements including the depth. :mrgreen2: As it's a round you should be able to go for either a stock setting or custom if you wish!

I’m definitely thinking ring on the pad. I have an idea in my head of a halo with brilliant cut diamonds around except 4 pear cut for the north/south/east/west positions. Would it be too much? Maybe I’ll sketch something later

Thanks for the reply! Ah shoot, I'd asked Gene for the measurements but didnt think to ask about depth. What I have so far is: 5.751 mm diameter and 0.985 ct.

@Rubymal So standard 6mm round settings should be ok but some gemstone cuts can be shallow or deep which I guess could effect the setting. I would start to look around and price things up but wait till you have the stone in hand. ;)2

Thank you! I actually have it right now. I picked out a stuller setting online and will be sending it out to a jeweler on Monday. Also took the stone back out for some outdoor lighting photos.

@elle_71125 — yes! However now that I see it in person, I’m wondering if it might be overwhelming. The stone is 5.6mm round. Anyone have ideas? Maybe a prong setting with a few diamond accents?

Separately, I‘ve been searching for a moonstone ring. That one is beautiful!

Well, I am thrilled to report that the amethyst from last Friday is gorgeous! OMG- it's so freaking purple! :kiss2: I'll attempt some horrible photos later.

Ooo can't wait to see! I've been burned lately with 2 underwhelming amethyst purchases so will be looking forward to a nice one!

I missed a drop. This one is still available. There was also an adorable pair of oec cut peridot but those aren’t on the site anymore (feel free to chime in if you bought them).

Drats. I was hoping there'd be more OEC peridot so I can point my fiance in that direction to get them for my birthday.

My birthday is also in August. I've always wanted to keep an eye out for a nice peridot but somehow, the stone's color doesn't quite speak to me. I did pick up a periodot earring set a few years ago but never reach for them.

Yes, it was such a relief when spinels because birthstones for August, too. That opens up a whole other range of colors!

Well, I tried to take pictures of the amethyst and failed miserably. Why doesn't my iPhone see what I do????? :wall: I'm so confused. Anyhow, my daughter has the 'good" phone so I'll have her take pictures on Monday.

I think that’s a problem most of us encounter now and then. I have a mint garnet that looks incredible in person...but kinda sucky on camera. I can’t for the life of me figure out why. I hope your daughter’s phone captures the color better because I’d love to see more pics of this beauty.

I’m happy to see that the tsav sold. It was so hard to resist...that color AND my favorite shape. I’m hoping to find one that’s a bit larger one of these days.

I’m glad the tsav sold too! It was so tempting . Now I just wish some would purchase the big mint garnet! I want that stone so badly!!

That is a very pretty setting. Do you happen to know the Stuller setting number?

Thanks!

@Rubymal It's beautiful and perfect!

Thanks! It is #124519

That is an absolutely lovely ring, and it's lovely on you! Thank you for the Stuller stock number; I quite like that setting and am planning on some solitaires coming up here.

And it's here! A silver Stuller setting for the little Montana sapphire :)
