Gene's newest stones (precision gem)

I so want that spinel :kiss2:! I’m trying to resist since should set the two from Gene I already have...
Ah, now this is a problem I’m very familiar with. :lol-2: I’m constantly buying new gems, when I should really be setting the ones I already have.

Actually the dragon garnet IS newly discovered in 2022. There's a seller on IG (& Etsy) called Ravenstein. They have several of these and the listings for them have a detailed history. It's a bright medium pink tone in normal light but a firey dayglo color under UV light. It changes color in daylight, soft light, warm light too. The pieces are mostly sub 1 ct.

Thank you, @CHRISTY-DANIELLE . I appreciate the link. Isn’t it crazy that we’re still discovering new gems all the time. The world feels so small, but there’s still so much to be discovered out there.

Gene posted a pretty large drop last night. I missed it, but there were some pretty and affordable opals in there, as well as a delicious looking mint garnet.

I bought the first dragon garnet he sold. It's beautiful! Here is my crappy indoors photo. I forgot to get outdoors ones because all it did was rain since it arrived so I put it away. I'll try to remember to take it outside.

Very pretty. I just bought a lab emerald from him. It's beautiful and flashes are amazing, but I can't get good photos. I'll try video tomorrow. That is sometimes better.

Green gems can be so hard to photograph, but they are so special in person. I look forward to seeing your pic / video.

Why do they call it a dragon garnet?

@CHRISTY-DANIELLE posted this a week or so ago regarding dragon garnet.

I can't claim any knowledge on them, but I would guess the name comes from their reaction / red glow under UV light.

It looks like Gene updated his website. I figured I'd share this note from his last email, in case anyone missed it. I'm excited for this change. Hopefully it will eliminate some of the problems people have been having with not knowing if they've purchased the gem straight away.

I just updated the website with 4 new gemstones.
Also there is a new shopping cart. This one will allow you to go through and make your payment directly, and has a few more payment options. As soon as someone makes a purchase the item will be marked sold, and another person can not purchase it.
If you see a stone you like and it is marked “Out of Stock” that means someone already purchased it, but you could email, in the event it is returned, I’ll let you know.
Any issues with the new shopping cart, let me know as this is the first listing with it active.

I’m curious is anyone has had Gene cut them a lab colored stone? What do you all think of lab CS? I love his teal sapphires and I’ve always wanted a light purple/lilac colored stone, but the natural stones are out of my reach price wise.

I’ve had one of his lab emeralds too. I sold it a couple years ago and I absolutely regret it, because it was gorgeous. I also have one of his paraiba yags in a ring and I adore it. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another lab gem from him.

I just got a lab emerald. I think it's beautiful and I have no problem with "mind clean". I'll try to post some videos as photos come out terrible.

Thank you both! This is helpful. I was worried about it being “mind clean”. There is some appeal to a stone that grew that color in the earth, if that makes sense. However, I would never be able to afford all of the stones I want if I just bought natural/earth mined stones. I’ll give lab stones a try!

Pics from the last drop. I’m truly surprised that blue green tourmaline is still available. It’s beautiful!

I just received a lab yellow sapphire from finewater gems and it is beautiful. I'll post photos later today or tomorrow.

Gene just had another drop. I‘m over here lusting after that berry colored mahenge garnet so I hope somebody buys it and saves me from myself. :lickout:

It looks like he also has some of that vibrant LUAG material. Based on on the pics I’ve seen on here, he’s photos / videos aren’t doing it any favors. That’s sure to be radioactive!

Ps. Sorry for the oversized photos.

I bought the blue sapphire! It's so cute.

May have bought the Mahenge too, but I have one on order with Jeff White already!!

IRL LuAG is unbelievably bright. It's just unreal.

It arrived! My first blue sapphire.

Its beautifully cut, and I love how it looks both inside and outside! So happy with it, a successful impulse buy!

Indoors: a pretty, denim-y blue.

Outside (sunny day): a lighter, more vibrant blue that looks way better in real life than in my photos!

Bonus picture: indoors, with flash!

It’s beautiful! :kiss2::kiss2: Congrats on your first blue sapphire. I look forward to seeing how you decide to set it.

Gene put out new stones this morning -- man, that 1.72ct oval-cut Pink Tourmaline is just so pretty!

Can't resist that spess and bought it. Let's see how it turns out!

Edit: bought the spess on a whim. I just realized I have this tourmaline sitting around forever. Curious to see if the spess can pair with it to make a toi et moi.
