Hi everyone!
This is my first post on pricescope. I''ve been surfing this website for a while but just became a member recently
I recently received a beautiful gift (ring) from my boyfriend and i would like to get it insured, perhaps with Chubb, since they come so highly recommended here. I''m in the Toronto, Ontario area, and i''ve contacted 10-15 brokers, and so far i''ve had NO luck. Every broker i''ve spoken to has flat out said i cannot get a stand-alone policy for my ring. The one broker that didn''t flat-out reject me contacted Chubb to see if it was possible to get a stand-alone for my ring.
The broker called me back and told me this:
"Chubb is not interested in insuring your ring because it is under $25K and it is not an engagement ring". The logic behind this is that if it was an engagement ring, there is some sort of promise/likelihood of marriage, and therefore more coverage (i.e. a home policy) in the near future. However, even if it was an engagement ring and the appraised value is under $25K, then they won''t cover it anyway.
*sigh*
I''ve read many posts on here by members stating they have managed to get a stand-alone policy with Chubb for their jewellery (engaged and not). Does anyone have any insight as to what i can do? Any Canadian posters here who have had luck with this? (i''ve tried contacted one poster named ccuheartnurse who has had success but her email has been disabled)
Thanks so much!
