When we were in Sanibel on vacay, we had a local flavor called the Dirty Sand Dollar (yes, we made a lot of jokes)...I''ve been working to recreate the flavor here, as it was just darned incredible.

Malted Milk flavored ice cream
Caramel swirlies
Chocolate chips
Chocolate Malt balls.

Seriously. Delish. I''m convinced it''s what got me pregnant, but then again, I got a lot of my sex ed from Forever.

Another lover of Baskin Robbins here...they have a Reese''s flavor that would make me push little kids out of line if I had to. Let''s hope it doesn''t get to that point.

TOASTED COCONUT!

Cold Stone sucks. (Used to work there don''t get me started!)

Cupcakes. Not cupcake ice cream, cupcakes.

And I make the best ice cream in town, but I haven''t done it in a while. So I''ll go with Baskin Robbins. Nothing beats the Pralines and Cream. Except my own flavors of course!
I''m with you. of the national chains, I don''t like cold stone. The texture is questionable at best and their chocolate flavors have no flavor.

Of the chains Baskins is my favorite, they have something called world class chocolate that just makes my day.

When I was little my dad made ice cream, I miss those days.
BIH that is hilarious-any time we go to Baskin Robbins BF gets two scoops of World Class Chocolate and I always steal a couple of bites. It is SO GOOD!!! (This is years that he''s been getting this flavor, and he won''t try anything new!)

we have a Baskin Robbins close by our house, but like ice creams that are made inhouse "family owned".

I''m big on cookie dough :D Cake batter is good too!

*Monkey wrench* I cant eat ice cream but i had to jump in

Cold stone is my favorite and i get: Raspberry sorbet with brownies and fudge mixed in. I shared it with my mom and she said it tastes like a raspberry truffle. i wouldnt know.. but its darn good lol

Ben and Jerrys in Santana Row makes some good stuff too.. Sorbet even

however, during the hot summer nights you''ll be looking at a 30-40 mins waiting line.

Mmmmm, I was thinking about Marianne''s as well. I LOVE their rocky road! Such a fun place to go on a late summer evening.

There''s a local place near me that makes pear sorbet and it is DIVINE. I love fruit sorbets and gelatos. Lemon sorbet is so refreshing in the summer!

I''m actually kind of lactose intolerant, but I sometimes give into temptation and get regular ice cream every now and then. I love Haagen Dazs Dulce de Leche, which is caramel ice cream with a caramel swirl in it.

Deco, the caramel kind of Haagen Dazs you posted sounds like Dulce de Leche on crack and I must find it and try it!

Now, hubby has to take me for ice cream because of the power of suggestion

I love ice cream. I also am loving passion fruit or mango Rita''s water ice with vanilla custard. Yummy but not good for the waist line at all...

dark chocolate

2nd place, cookies ''n cream

Homer''s (in Wilmette) has the best ice cream in the state of Illinois.

My favorite flavor is vanilla. I''m serious.

Since we gave up sugar, my favorite ice cream is Blue Bunny No Sugar Added Bunny Tracks. Going to get some now...

Cold Stone Creamery
or
Baskin Robbins

Thing two of two Omg! that pear sorbet sounds heavenly.. if you like lemon sorbet try Ben and Jerrys sorbet called berried treasure. Its lemon sorbet with blackberry and blueberry swirls, mixed in. Its very very good. So is their jamaican me crazy, which is pineapple sorbet with passion fruit sorbet swirls.

I only just recently found out they were making sorbet so ive been trying every flavor!

My favorite flavors are mocha chip, moose tracks, and mint chocolate chip with chocolate sprinkles/jimmies. There''s a type of mint chocolate chip that I love but I don''t know who makes it. It has little chips and slightly larger chocolate cups (kind of like a mini PB cup but filled with chocolate instead of PB).

I've discovered the BEST ice cream place in my city called Maggie Moo's....they make it all fresh every day, kinda like coldstone except not as sickeningly sweet. Here are the combos that have made my mouth water:

Cake batter with teddy grahams (and totally cute - the girl at the counter REFUSED to "kill" the bears by crushing them)
Cake batter with brownie chunks
Peanut butter with butterfinger*** So good, but they don't carry PB every day, or I'd seriously eat it every day!
DH also had a chocolate mint icecream with oreo chunks - that was serious yum.

My all-time favorite combo is chocolate peanut butter and mint chocolate chip (a scoop of each) in a cone. Haagendaas mango sorbet is downright amazing too. Oh, and Schwann's Butter Brickle ice cream (and their golden nugget bars!).

OH - and Haven - um, that can't be the best place, because the best place is the Custard Cup in Champaign, IL :) Lemon custard...ahhhhhh....

We have Maggie Moo''s here, too. I usually get mint ice cream with brownie pieces and cookie dough batter .... YUM!!!!

Totally smiling at the girl who refused to "kill" the teddy grahams!!!

Yummy! Mango ice cream sounds delish! Maybe next weekend! Tonight I made a delicious concoction with a bit of a Dulce de Leche flair! I''m going to eat it right now with my grilled peaches!

Blue Bell Ice Cream = at most grocery stores in and around Texas!

2nd place goes to Amy''s in Austin, Texas

Yup. We only have to go to our freezers in TX for the best. Blue Bell Dutch Chocolate. Mint Chocolate Chip. Pralines and Cream. I could go on and on.

At the risk of being sacriligeous, bebe, the HEB stores do have their own brand -- Creamy Creations -- that is almost as good as Blue Bell.
