Yes, I have gift-getting stress instead of gift-giving stress this season... Our anniversary is right after Christmas, and SO wants to buy me jewelry. To him it seems like the easy gift to give me (I didn''t know I was so difficult to shop for!

), since that''s what I usually get for special occasions. However I don''t want him to spend hardly any money at all. We''re both still in school and pretty broke. If he gave me a heartfelt card or letter or some small thoughtful gift for under 25 bucks, I would be thrilled! When I told him this he got discouraged, like "You don''t want jewelry??" It just seems like whenever an anniversary or birthday comes around, it''s time to visit the usual jewelry website and order something. I would rather get something more, I dunno, thoughtful...? I hope I don''t sound terrible...

Anniversaries are very special to me. I''m a sentimental sap I guess.

Are there any LIWs out there with gift OCD?

It is nice to get something sentimental and thoughtful, but for me, I just appreciate being able to spend time with SO (i know it sounds cliche, but it''s true!)

I am suffering from a little gift-getting OCD, too and that''s because he''s getting me a claddagh ring for Christmas (we ordered one last week and he had both my ring fingers sized

). I don''t know what it was, but while standing in the jewlery store, I felt kind of anxious. I wasn''t if sure he was going to take a look at some e-rings while there, but he seemed to avoid the diamond section

. Yesterday, he was talking about picking up the claddagh ring this weekend and then mentioned how his co-workers were asking if he proposed yet. He told them that he''s planning it soon but knows it''s not soon enough. I know it''s so sweet that he''s getting me this claddagh ring, which means so much to me, but it''s making me want the e-ring and to be engaged that much more intensely!

Thanks for listening ladies! Is that at all similar to what you were experiencing, fiuzzers?

CNYHopeful, yes I know what you mean. Maybe I''m subconsciously avoiding jewelry for that reason??
