Golden South Sea pearls with diamonds drop earrings

Thank you so much, @Asscherhalo_lover. :kiss2:

Awww - thank you, @Daisys and Diamonds! I inherit my skin from my mother's side of the family, and consider myself lucky. My sister's skin is better than mine, tho, and - at 62 - shows almost no signs of aging at all. It's remarkable! :o

Thank you, @goldenfire. I have to be honest, the day I bought them wasn't a great day. I walked into DKJ and said "I want to buy something - I have no idea what. Show me anything!" This was about the third thing they showed me and I bought them on the spot - no forethought whatsoever! Turns out it was a perfect purchase. :))

Thank you, @canuk-gal! Heart on one side - pear on the other. And I love hearts also; I think they're remarkably under-appreciated and under-used in jewelry these days. I'd love to see them make a comeback.

Thank you so much, @elizat - I appreciate the kind comments! :wavey:

Thank you so much, @Queenie60 - especially for the good wishes re my health. It's much on my mind these days and I appreciate all positive thoughts. :))

Hahahahaha I love that, so funny. It really was a fab purchase..I mean golden drops of pearl glory and now hanging from stunning diamonds...so fantastic... So when are you down here in so cal? I was thinking a So Cal get together would be so fun..I know about handful of gals are here, I can't remember exactly. And you visit regularly right?Or do you live here? LOL I can't keep track. But how fun would a sparkly get together be?!

Hey there, @Mcgregor! :wavey: I'm not sure if you picked up on my CA diagnosis earlier this month (it's around in a thread here somwhere) - but I think our meet-up will have to be pushed back a trifle. I have surgery July 9th, so I'm hoping after I bounce back from that a trifle we can do our get-together. Maybe September? Definitely something for me to look forward to![/QUOTE]

Wait, Is there already a CA get together planned? oooh I'm excited

Well, ok, so here are some photos. BE NICE! Remember - I turned 59 yesterday and I have cancer! (...good lord - why do I find that bizarrely and perversely funny??)

ETA You really do need to click on the photo to get a decent look at the earrings - but them you get an enormous photo of my big ol' head! Sorry bout that!

You complexion is like peaches and cream as my Mom loves to say. Also...praying for total healing and disappearance of that cancer! Where is the thread on it?I didn't read it. rooting for you though. My Mom just had a hysterectomy and thank God the cancer is gone..

@mrs-b Hope you're doing well. I will pray and send good thoughts your way. I too, am a cancer survivor and know how important good thoughts are. Wishing you well and will pray for you my friend. God Bless. Q

Thank you, @canuk-gal! Heart on one side - pear on the other. And I love hearts also; I think they're remarkably under-appreciated and under-used in jewelry these days. I'd love to see them make a comeback.

@mrs-b, wow I love your new earrings. I LOVE the diamonds of different shapes-truly makes the earrings stunning! Happy Happy Birthday!!!! DH turns 60 at the end of July and I at the end of October. 59 not so scary but the next one.......yikes. I continually ask myself,,,,when did I get so old? LOL. You are beautiful and lovely and your earring look wonderful. I hope you wear them often because they are perfect on you.

A voluptuous heart would set me up for life!:P2 There have been a few stunners on PS....

@mrs-b You look amazingly young for your age and your drops are divine! Sending you prayers for good health and speedy recovery.:wavey:

Happy belated birthday, @mrs-b!!! Those are just beautiful! Such a great idea!

SCRUMPTIOUS! :lickout:

@Queenie60 - thank you so much for your warm thoughts. I'm trying to put it out of my mind till my surgery tells me exactly how serious this is. There's really no point in borrowing trouble, is there? For now, I feel 100% fine, so I'm praying my results are a reflection of how I feel.

@Daisys and Diamonds - a number of people on these boards are exploring the asymmetric look in earrings - some much more overtly than me. It's a look I like, but am rarely brave enough to pursue!

@Big Fat Facets - I hope you had a bunch of fun in some of my other threads; there's some gorgeous stuff there, if I do say so myself!

Thank you so much, @luv2sparkle! Yes!! When did we all get so old?! o_O Unnerving, isn't it?! In the meantime, I'm going to pursue 'a youthful look via jewelry'!

@canuk-gal - big diamonds - hearts or any shape - never hurt anyone!! I'd like a big EC or a huge cushion. I doubt it will ever happen, but a girl can still dream. I hope your enormous heart comes to fruition one day.:love:

God bless you, @angeljosephy! I have my mother to thank for my skin, but time really does take its toll on all of us. I do love my drops, tho. :))

Thank you so much, @Dandi!

Lol - thank you, @Austina! And yes, they wow me, too! :))

Thanks, @tyty333! I'm sure I'll wear them a lot; the style and the coloring go with so many things I own. And they're very comfortable to wear.

Lol! I'm glad I was able to inspire you to waste some time in the pursuit of fun bling, @crystalinmke!

Thank you so much, @Catmom. And thank you for the birthday greetings. :appl:

Thank you so much, @Stone Hunter :)) :wavey:

@mrs-b - I'm praying for you. Sending good thoughts your way. Take care.

Oooh. Thanks for tagging me @mrs-b!! Must have been one of those production release weeks wherein I can’t guarantee myself guilt-free bathroom time - I must simply not have checked PS at all, as I certainly wouldn’t have missed them otherwise!

I love these! They’re so sweet :kiss2: I completeky understand what you mean re. preferring your larger, more perfect studs - this is a darling compromise!! The heart and the pear are just delightful together :kiss2: proportionally similar, spatially similar :cool2: and a big ditto to @Crystal_Dreams’s post - where, outside PS, would one ever see SSs and diamonds used like this? :mrgreen2:

They hang beautifully on you. Exactly the right length for sweet - right below the lobe. They’ve definitely got a bit of a different look and feel from most of your collection - more flirty frivolity, less classic gravity :geek2: How often do you find yourself reaching for them?

And... I missed your brirthday, love :(2 Happy (belated) birthday!!!!! After the last couple of months it seems perfectly appropriate to celebrate again ::)

Some time back - a year? maybe more? - I bought these gorgeous 11mm golden South Sea pearls from David Klass. I wore them a few times, but I have a larger pair of 12mm AAA natural white South Sea pearls and I always reached for those ahead of the golden ones. I was aware that - in a direct competition - the more perfect, larger whites would always win.

But I also had 2 unused diamonds - one a pear ( G, SI1) and one a heart ( H VS1 ) - both with similar dimensions, TCW roughly 1ct. I took the pearls and the diamonds to DKJ and asked for them to be turned into drop earrings - a style largely unrepresented in my jewelry box.

So here they are! They're about 1" long, set in 18kt yellow, and completely unlike anything else I own. I'm sure these will now go into regular rotation and will look great dressed up or dressed down. VERY happy with how these turned out!

And just to add - today is my birthday, so the timing is excellent! Happy birthday to me!

@yssie - I'm laughing.....

You are SO kind about my timid little attempts for artistic asymmetry! I was actually looking at these earrings last night and thinking about *your* earrings, and thinking "I *must* show Yssie MY asymmetry artistic-ness!" Mine amounts to one little divot in a diamond - the difference between a heart and a pear!

However, I do love them. :)) They're happy little earrings and I wear them...not 'a lot' but 'regularly'. The only jewelry I wear a lot is my hoops, my large natural white SS pearls, my bangles and my wedding ring. Everything else is in the 'going out' rotation.

I'm working on a few very pedestrian things at the moment - mostly 6 charms for my charm bracelet. They're all things I've designed myself, so are being custom made and, altho they won't have much meaning to anyone other than me, I think they're very pretty. And I'm finally setting a very casual collection of gems (one oval rubellite, 2 pear shaped opals) into a three stone ring. I've always been entranced by enamel, tho - ever since my late teens - and it will figure largely in my new charms. I'm also thinking of doing a pair of enamel earrings, so we'll see how that goes, tho it won't be for a while.

I hope your summer is going well! And don't forget to let me know if you're ever in the Boston area! :wavey:

Thank you, @Queenie60 - all turned out very well! :))

And @whitewave - you would be more than welcome! :wavey:

Gorgeous!!:love::love::love:

I had a similar pair of golden pearls to yours, but alas I've sold them. I've had buyer's remorse since then. Been thinking of getting them replaced but pearl prices have shot through the roof!!

Enjoy yours!

Thanks, Phoenix!

These are a truly GOLD color - which I love - and they have a glow which makes them delicious! They're very easy to wear and go with most things. But I know you love your pearls huge (and I mean that as a very GOOD thing!) - what size are you thinking about? These are roughly 11mm and work for me.

I paid more for these than I would have at somewhere like Pearl Paradise, as a lot of golden SS pearls have a lot of brown in them, or can look quite dull. But these are predominantly yellow, which is very unusual, and I love them.

Oooh I’ve only just seen this thread, lovely earrings @mrs-b love the colour of the pearls they really suits your skin tone and the design is lovely - classic but quirky. I would also love to hear more about your charms as well?

Hi Meely :wavey:

The first piece of jewelry I ever wanted was my aunt's iridescent heart shaped glass pendant. :) But after that, I think the next piece I was fascinated by was charm bracelets. I love miniatures - always have. Charm bracelets, to me, are like a collection of miniatures - all that interest and beauty and quirkiness compressed into half an inch! Fascinating!

I had a lovely charm bracelet years ago - lovely - but not unique. A lot of the charms had been bought on various travels, or gifted for various events, but there were a whole heap just bought in shops or online to fill up gaps. They were neither unique not especially interesting, and they had no sentimental value. So over recent years, I've been slowly replacing those charms with self-designed charms, each with interesting features, and often made from gold melted down from pieces I no longer wear, but which still had sentimental value. I have 7 new charms coming - 4 probably next week, and 3 more in a few weeks. I've already had a couple made and - combined with the ones I already had and chose to keep - it will be a bracelet filled with memories and precious things. I'll post the whole piece in its own thread when it's finished and if you're interested I'm happy to put the charms here beforehand, as they arrive. I'm also having a simple ring made, and will put that up when it's done as well. So - some nice things coming!

Thanks for asking, Meely! :))

I’ve only just seen your post, what absolutely gorgeous earrings you’ve created..I love them, I think you’ve made the perfect design choice for them and I love the mismatched diamonds..so elegant and fun.

I hope you love them and enjoy wearing them, and very best wishes for the future and everything you wish for for yourself.
