Awe, I like thing2, but I love Dr. Seuss! My all time fave is ''There''s a Wocket in My Pocket!''

Hahaha...thanks for the support, Moon! Feel free to continue calling me thing2! I love Dr. Seuss, too! I don''t know what my favorite is...probably the Lorax if I was forced to choose.

Actually, at one point me and my twin sis talked about getting Dr. Suess tattoos...glad I resisted because I am still tattoo free! Nothing wrong with them, but I think if I got one I would have been covered...I just have to look at the 10 holes in my ears to figure that out!

Just look at it this way-if the worse name Republicans can call Obama is the Messiah and the Holy One, I''m okay with it!
2.gif

That''s all they''ve got. Obama is extremely intelligent, good-looking, charismatic, tall, happily married, he has 2 gorgeous little girls, he''s articulate...the list goes on. They''ve got nothing on him, really! Or should I be typing Him?
3.gif

Hmph.

I''ll have you know I''m not dumb, not heinous looking (no one''s ever thrown up), caricaturistic, average height, happily married (I wouldn''t ask TGuy his opinion though), have one gorgeous little girl and can blab away like no one''s business.

I could have easily been elected prez if I were natural born! Take that, Obama worshippers!!!
3.gif

Hahaha-TGal, I would vote for you over McCain/Palin any day! I know you would do a better job than they would have!

Hahaha! Really? Give the president a rest? The elected leader of our country? Come on. That''s just not how this country works. Something tells me no one will give Obama a rest once he''s president, either. Including me!

Well, I feel like I''ve been pretty consistent here in my objections to Bush et al. If you strip the "tone" out of that letter, you still have some pretty serious and real problems that a lot of people will be glad to see go, or to at least have a president who might reverse some of the damage. But it IS extensive. The Bush Doctrine for one, which based on several posts in this thread, I still think people don''t really GET. The don''t get it, nor do they understand why it''s considered NEW. As an aside, it isn''t preemptive war, which is an old concept, but PREVENTIVE war, a new one. Or at least it''s new in America. "...including the controversial policy of preventive war, which held that the United States should depose foreign regimes that represented a potential or perceived threat to the security of the United States, even if that threat was not immediate;" If that was ANY other country but us using that rationale, what would we call it people? Anyone?? Anyone? It''s time we quit applying a different moral and ethical yardstick to our own behavior, and excusing actions and policies that we loudly and - now - hypocritically condemn in any other country. "We''re the USofA, and WE aren''t wrong...but...well...when we ARE, we do it for the right reasons, so that makes it OK." Right.

Then there is torture as POLICY. It''s didn''t work for the Inquistion, and it doesn''t work today. Why does anyone think it would?
The fact that we had secret prisons, did enormous damage to habeas corpus, had rampant cronyism, the tendency in the executive of only listening to people who told them what they wanted to hear, and vendettas against people who don''t toe the line (Plame anyone?) and allowing regulatory agencies to damn near die, (don''t want to put undue burden on business don''tcha know; besides, they can be TRUSTED with your health/retirement/toys/environment/safety). And then there''s Katrina...

I could go on. Suffice it to say, that although the tone in that letter is harsh, many of the issues addressed are very real and not unfair accusations at all.

This is rubbish.
Is it?

I was going to do a post with lots of links to back up the letter, but it would have taken so long, only to most likely be ignored. But there is definitely substance to this letter, even if some can't, or won't see it. If anyone cares to, just start searching. Try "Bush lies about 9-11", that's an eyepopping result. And that alone would be enough to make people hate this president, forget everything else he has done. He did lie. He lied about why he started it, he lied about the intelligence that led up to it, and he has continued to lie, to all of us. All the while, thousands of people, innocent people, including our own, have been killed and maimed. You don't have to take my word for it, just do a search through the mountain of info. It's there, and in his own words, and that of his team.

Do a search for "jersey girls", some of the widows from 9-11 that pushed for the commision. (and why is that, that the gov. had to literally be pushed into an investigation about why that happened on our soil and killed three thousand people?) See the multitude of questions they still have, that the 9-11 commission never answered, because the 9-11 commission was a joke. Only it wasn't so funny. In fact, it wasn't funny at all, and there are many calling for a REAL investigation when Bush leaves. I for one, would welcome that, maybe we could finally get to the truth.

And ask yourself, just why did we go to war with Iraq over Saddam Hussein, when we all believed 9-11 was at the hands of Osama bin Laden, who was most likely NOT in Iraq? Because the president and Cheney had it in for the guy from the beginning, they just needed a reason to go after him. So they made one up. The evidence is there, in plain view, if you will see it. Even our president elect called it right at the time, saying it was a dumb war, though I'd call it something stronger (and did at the time). Maybe he would too, in private.

In Bob Woodward's new book on the lead up to the war, Plan of Attack, which includes much of the Presidents own words to Woodward, Bush asked Woodward "why the search for weapons of mass destruction had to be included. What did that have to do with it?" WHAT?? But actually, now that you mention it, that's a very good question Mr. President. What exactly DID that have to do with it? Nothing.

There's a video on youtube that shows Rumsfeld, Cheney (who wrote his own set of laws, which are now being rolled back because they were plain unconstitutional, do a search) , Bush, Rice, and Powell (who I believe fell for all this, and it has been written he was basically shut out of things) being caught in their own contradictory statements on the premise of this war, among other things. I won't link it because it has too much profanity in it, but if you go to youtube and search "Bush lies", many videos will come up. There are a few versions of this, but one to look for is titled US War Criminals -The Bush Lies Montage, by kynandog. Then do a regular search on "Guantonamo mistreatment". And read the links I posted earlier, if you haven't.

This war was wrong, and anybody that told this president anything to the contrary was dismissed. Take Obama's new secretary of the Veteran's Affair's, Gen. Eric Shinseki. He told Rumsfeld back in Feb. 2003 that it might take several hundred thousand US troops to control Iraq after the invasion. Rumsfeld belittled that remark as "wildly off the mark", and he was fired a few months later. They dismissed it, because it wasn't what they wanted to hear (the truth), it wasn't what we would want to hear. Only, Shinseki was right after all...

This war, and everything it has stood for, is wrong. If people don't understand that, if they truly can't see that, I'm sorry. I am so tired of the criticism our new president has received, while not even in office yet, when the sitting president has been so dangerous, and has done more to destroy this country and our standing in the world than anyone EVER could have imagined. It's not about Obama either. ANY man coming into this office, who could speak intelligently, who appreciated intelligence, who could see what's gone so wrong and genuinely wanted to fix it, who could listen to those around him and be man enough to change his position because he may be wrong about it, because he actually cared about the decisions he made and the affect they would have on us, the people who voted him in, would be welcomed with open arms.

I really haven't said much about Bush, until now. This wasn't meant as a "hatefest", it was meant to be just what it is, a detailed goodbye. A truthful goodbye. A welcomed goodbye. Yes, the tone is harsh. But when a man takes the highest office in the land, puts his hand on the bible and states "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States", and then turns around and makes a mockery of that very constitution, he deserves what he gets. And he deserves this letter. I frankly find it puzzling that people would excuse/defend the behavior of this president. It's hard to believe all he has gotten away with, and Bill Clinton got impeached for an indiscretion....

And to all who appreciated the post, thanks.

if anyone really thinks they have "proof or provable facts" this is not the place to take them. you need to find an attorney and get the ball rolling. the internet and the media are not facts. if you have good sources there are places that can help you accomplish your goal. it would be more productive to spend your time righting the wrongs you have the facts to than just talking about people hating the current president. no one should be above the law use your facts if you have them.

Well said Karen and Ellen, as always!

Thank you Ellen, I appreciated your post. I feel like I have written a similar listing of things in my own head, but stopped counting a couple years ago. I hope everyone who is a Republican understands that our feelings do not have to do with him being Republican but what he did to the office of the President.

It seems that the people who wholey disagree with this piece have been living in a different country than I have. Picking out two or three examples of contentious points in an article rife with points does not make the general premise incorrect, or even most of the points. There is pretty general consensus that Bush is one of the worst presidents ever, and making this point has no bearing or reflection at all on Obama. He is not the president yet, and he is not the subject of this particular rant. We have to collectively wait at least 4 years before we can throw Obama under the bus.
9.gif
Well, I certainly wasn''t throwing the whole article ''under the bus'', but I certainly outlined the comments which I thought were particularly silly. Yes, Bush is rather irritating to watch when he speaks. No doubt. But to judge a whole country by one person, yes, a very important person, when we have loads of idiots in the house and senate on both sides, who are also to blame for all the crap that is going on now is rather silly. I also think of the world''s reaction to Obama, or anyone like him, as kinda dangerous. It seems to me that the world is ripe for someone to ''save them''.
Barney Frank comes to mind.

Well, didn''t you think it would play out this way, here on PS? The lines were drawn long ago. No pundit or opinion wonk is going to write anything that will change anyone''s mind -- are they?? Aren''t the same people going to be on the same side of this continual divide? Any post like this is just going to prompt the same responses and attitudes, time and again.

I am peacefully spending time with my 3 month old niece in Switzerland and it is wonderful ... she wants to eat every three hours. Very predictable. Reminded me of the Around the World forum!!! Democrats will blame the Bush administration for all evils and Republicans will defend him even if we learned that he had eaten a child.
Oh well ... I will refrain from chiming in, wish you ALL a great day back in the US and sip on a great 2000 Bordeaux while watching a fire burn in the chimney! Have to keep up elistist leftist appearance.

I say its rubbish because if I were to post some random article (an opinion piece no less) found on the internet from some lunatic who doesnt like Obama, the thread would be 40 pages long bashing me.

I''m not interested in getting into an argument or debate because it cannot be won or lost and frankly this particular article is just more of the same. It would be nice if we could remove the double standard of what''s acceptable in terms of linking random op-ed pieces. Or else, I may have a few beers and feel the need to copy and paste people commenting in Michelle Malkin''s blog. I''m sure that would go over well.

Stone - join me for a glass of wine and let''s chill together. We''ll forget about the elitism side for a second too. Do you have a cute niece too?? And why do I feel so conciliatory??? Oh ... the wine. Time to go to bed.

No niece but I''d love a nice glass of wine!
