I say Mark Morell. Nothing is better than a MWM.

Baby... (bling*diva*) you are the greatest! (from the honey mooners)

I can''t believe that ring! That ring! That is the ring! Honestly I have never seen it. That is unbeliveable! Now I do feel a little deflated. That is my creation! Honest it is. A little behind but I thought of that! Too funny.

I would love to talk to KBerly, can I do that? This is not on MM site...are there any others out there that a newbie wouldn''t know of?

Wow that is too cool.

Thanks Bing*Diva* ...you get extra cookies, and you don''t have share!!

actually, it is on MM's site. you can see it
here about 1/2 way down the page.it says JC duo next to the picture.....I love that ring and have considered it myself if I went for a solitaire setting for my upgrade.

Door knob- it sounds like you like simple, smooth, and classic rings. MWM are incredible rings. He would be my choice if I ever go modern.

Hi DK

I would suggest you contact Mark Morrell. I recently e-mailed him and even though I ended up getting another setting, I was very impressed with Mark''s repsopnses to my e-mails. (Yes we exchanged two or three e-mails) And he was very prompt.

He suggested the following to me since my husband and I had different views on what my setting should look like:

My best suggestion is for you and your husband to make columns on a sheet of paper. One column will be for features that you like in a ring mounting and the other column for features that don''t appeal to you. When your thoughts have all been considered, you might make an outline of what is desirable to you both. Visual aids such as images from the net and sketches should aid in making your wishes more clear.

Hope this helps.

Maya

Oh how funny
26.gif
. It is on MM site. Thank you Mrssalvo I have looked at that so many times. That angle looked so George Jetson...It wasn''t until I saw Kberlys photos that I realized it had the features I was looking for. One/two images just don''t do it. Marks photos appear much thicker than Kberlys.

tacoriering...you are right. I do lean towards a modern minimalist clean look... Come to think of it...my Home exterior/interior design is also minimalistic. I suppose that is why I love to look at all architecture or milligrain and engraving on others rings...admire the art as it is so rich looking..such as tacori...so beautiful! But I must have a smooth clean finish. Do you think that smooth metal and pave don''t go together? was that why you suggested that I go with the solitaire? PS. Watchout for Bling*diva she has been served extra cookies...just slap her little hand when she reaches for yours! And just say no!

moonstone what a great suggestion. Thank you.

Once again, great help!

Did you happen to find the first solitaire Kayla had made by Art of Platinum ? It was a simple (yeah!
11.gif
) Cartier-style basket with claw prongs finished to perfection.

See the original thread here

As for pave, 'guess this ring has about as much as it can possibly hold. Sort of unrelated - just found ti today at random.

Ring_2.03ct._4260b.jpg

It is shown HERE.

Both are 2 carat diamonds, btw.

ooo, i love the Art of Platinum, leon solitaire too. I think a shared prong wedding band would look fabulous but there have been several stories when the wedding band was "eating'' the e-ring. if you went with a pave or channel set band that would eliminate the problem and still looks smashing IMO.

Welcome!!!

Hi Valeria,

I had seen the Leon Solitaire. It is stunning. I think it is Kaylas'' story that makes me wonder if the simple sleek metal (design look) wears off...I mean in your hunger for bling...and the Pave craving comes back to bite you. As your reference to her FIRST Leon? Did Kayla pave "upgrade" on her next choice? But yes you too are right. That design is what I am describing. (funny I thought I was on to something...first Ginger B and now kayla has MY design!!) Is there a link to any more images of kaylas ring? What became of it? I think to make mine different I would make the basket ring smaller which will make the prong base to go inwards a tad more so the prong tops flare out wider. Oh someone help me!! I think I need to do what my husband wants...drill a hole down the center of the culet...glue a peg in it..and wear it on a chain.

The Pave you provided is delicious. The profile reminds me of Kaleighs asscher as it is fresh in my mind I just got an eye full of that traffic stopper. I would love to get my hands on an asscher like hers! There are sooo many wonderful Pave. Is the only issue pave wearers have is maybe further down the road you want a second ring to wear and you don''t want the diamonds rubbing together? As Mrssalvo just pointed out...the EATING OF THE FLANKING RING? (...thank you)

NEW QUESTION: If I plan to be a ONE RINGER will the 3 sided pave issue only be in the stones possibly falling out? Can a pave platinum be polished bright? Or is that why most have the rich details of miligraining and beadwork? So maybe my idea of smooth metal...can''t be satisfied with the pave choice?

Hello
35.gif
to you as well LM. Thanks for the welcome! I do love it here. Would you send me images of your ring? I love the shank width. It looks very dainty.

Door Knob

everytime I see that waving smiling it is all new again...I can''t help from smiling and waving back at him! So glad I don''t have a video computer you guys would think I was nutts!...or have you already come to that conclusion?
41.gif

I think pave would look great with no milgrain. I have milgraining around all my side stones but my band is polished PLT (no engraving) I think what ever your preferrence is should be what you with. How could diamonds ever look bad?
27.gif
Have you tried on different styles recently? I would go to a local jewelry store and see what you like. Try stacking the pave rings with a solitare like we were talking about. It might surprise you.
2.gif

one thing to also mention, there was a recent thread discussing that awesome polish of Mark Morrell. Here''s what Roc Doc said about maintaining the high polish look:

"RE: Repolishing an MM ring.

For those concerned about the longeivity of the polish you should realize that MM''s polishing jobs are very well polishied.
There are areas on an MM ring, that simply are not polished in many "regular" peoples products.

That isn''t to say that he is the ONLY person to polish to such a level of competency, but I am of the opinion that not many people can produce the level of finsih that he does.

So taking an original MM item to a local person for refinishing is probably not the most wise decision. I believe that readers should also be aware that there are areas of the rings he makes that will never have to be repolished. These include inner galleries, underneath stone setting areas etc.

Areas where the ring could get "banged" or marred, are areas where from time to time they should be refinsihed. To protect the level of workmanship of his unique and very carefully finished items, I''d suggest it go back to him. A poorly done polishing job could ruin the beauty of the item.

I equate it to having a non Rolex diamond bezel added to a Rolex watch. Even though the item may look similar it sort of defaces the original.

I know some of you may be groaning to think that shipping it back to MM would be costly, but if you do have Chubb insurance you can insure it for less as they do cover loss during shipment. So this way if you do have Chubb coverage, the cost for shipping it back can be at a far less amount than if you have insurance for shipping it without relying on their coverage, or if your current insurance policy doesn''t cover it for loss or damage in shipping.

Of course needless to say, the more carefully it is worn, you may not have to have it done that often. Once every two years if cared for is probably ok. But if you do see such "wear" then its time.

Hope this helps

Hi Valeria,

Kaylas' story that makes me wonder if the simple sleek metal (design look) wears off...I mean in your hunger for bling...and the Pave craving comes back to bite you.

I woudn't know... I like simple things, always have.

NEW QUESTION: If I plan to be a ONE RINGER will the 3 sided pave issue only be in the stones possibly falling out?

Not sure what this means... if the question is 'does three sided pave wear well 24/7' I am not sure the answer is 'yes'. Just don't know any better.

Can a pave platinum be polished bright? Or is that why most have the rich details of miligraining and beadwork? So maybe my idea of smooth metal...can't be satisfied with the pave choice?

Not sure what this means either. Rows of pave-set diamonds can be set on polished or satin finished platinum very nicely. There is no need for engraving or mill grain or whatever. Also, the small stones can be set flush without the metal beads holding them in place, but that style is more restrictive: you need some more space between the stones and one row of them is easier to achieve than a covered surface... as much as I can tell.
Speaking of pave on smooth metal... you may want to take a look at some jewelry using rows of pave on satin or brushed finish platinum. I can't tell whether you will like it, of course, but to me the look seemes fantastic. Against the soft gray metal the tiny diamonds look like a beam of light - the smaller they are, the more stryking.

It is an old trick - you may find monograms written with diamonds (the letters are only slightly thicker than if written on paper!) on precious cases and lockets from around 1850 or so. But there is plenty of modern jewelry using lines of pave on metal surfaces.

This should have been attached to the previous post... I couldn''t think of some enagegemt ring with pave and metal showing without mill grain and without engraving, but these show the idea, IMO.

Hello and Welcome! Like the others, I really enjoyed your introduction. I think you will bring PS great company. :)

As to your "dilemma" however... be prepared hanging out here! There are so many beautiful and varied looks here a girl's "dream ring" can change several times. I am not engaged yet but have gone through the wondering of how I want my rings too. (At least I haven't changed on shape, right?). I too am enamored with the many pave/microsetting/halo rings here despite my attraction to clean, sleek, classic yet modern jewelry.

I think the suggestions you have gotten so far (re: pave bands) are great. Here's another kicker: you mentioned you are (probably) not going to upgrade the stone (at least yet). Why not set the diamond in your sleek MM and get some kind of (smaller) diamond RHR (ala Kaleigh and her asscher beaut) in the pave setting you crave right now?

On an unrelated note though, as much as I love the glitzed out look of the 3-sided pave, I'd also worry about scratching anything next to it if you chose to wear it flanked with another ring. (I loved JadeLeaves' custom 3-sided pave ring but she mentioned recently that the pave was all but destroyed and the ring unable to be salvaged - and I am not sure if it has even been a year? not much more).

Anyway, best of luck to you. I look forward to seeing your "doorknob" and reading your future posts!

Tacori, thanks. I agree, I should do what my eye likes best. I have noticed that most pave is milligrain, or engraved or accented in some way. I wasn''t sure if there was a reason for this or not. I know that to polish plat to high polish correctly as MM explained there are numerous polishing wheels used and mutiple steps. It may stand to reason that the added details add an extra layer of protection for the delicate pave prongs/setting/attachment. Do you think that sounds wacky? Techniical or aesthetic reason?

Mrssalvo, thanks for the Roc Doc article. It was most imformative. But is is also discouraging. I have seen plat that needed polishing and then after if was "polished" locally, there was little to no difference. A week or more away for regular polishing maintainence may be too much for me too bare. Oh poo.

Valeria, thanks for the pave photos and post reply. Great suggestions. I will try it.

Hello to you Sarita. Thanks for the warm welcome. I hope to become an asset to the community. You all have been fabulous to me.

What shape have you not waivered from? And tell me, if you had to pull the trigger tomorrow...would it be Pave or Sleek modern? Come on...he has proposed he has to leave to country on business for 6 months, tomorrow morning you must choose before his flight leaves...tick tock...pave or modern. Speak now or wait 6 months for his return for your bling! Which is it? (insert Final jeopardy music here...)

Ok, you mentioned you are not engaged yet...well I have a Husband. A patient one... who has passed the computer for 18 months as my eyes are focused/straining/crossed on ring sites...Jeff Cooper, Scott Kay, etc etc...pricescope until wee hours...day after week after month...You want me to tell him I am now designing a second ring? Now I am just making sure I understand you before I go forth...is this your suggestion??? I think if I dare mention ANOTHER ring...the door knob will be flying and it will hit me on my way out! I must agree kaleigh has the right idea. Her first is a fabulous Tiffany...and her second is just as fabulous. I think it is best that I agree with you the RHR needs to be on my finger...we just must keep the idea in the Vault...at least until the first door knob is mounted...OK?? Shhhhh. Lets work together and keep me married for a little while longer! (Hope you took that as light hearted as it was intended.) A RHR is a great idea. If I don''t pave the knob I think I will a canary.
36.gif
Woo woo a pave canary RHR...Vault it!! (aka: Nip it! Nip it in the bud!!- Barney Fife)

I agree the "Pave Fiasco" was terrible. It redirected my thoughts more than once. And there have been a few other near misses for the board members lately. Thanks for reminding me. It is something to seriously consider. Oh, I love your avatar. That little cutie is asking for a ring for her paw!

Again crew...your the greatest!

Welcome to Pscope. I usually only lurk here in this section, but I wanted to speak up and let you know that I enjoyed your story and I am looking forward to keeping up with your progress and seeing what you decide on!

I would love to see some pictures, and I love the idea of pave for a band.. so you like the Halo look?

Welcome again!

Hey Doorknob!
35.gif

Welcome to PS! It''s so great to have you here! I enjoyed your story very much. It was so sweet.

Now for your dilemma, I think you should go for the smooth solitaire look. After reading all your posts so far, it seems you would enjoy that more for the long run. Don''t get me wrong, pave is gorgeous, but it seems like you just want a pave fix for now after seeing all the beautiful pave jewelry here. You can always get the pave setting for a RHR in the future (way future since you want to stay married longer...shhh, don''t let your husband hear us talking about this
2.gif
).

I think you just enjoy the classic look of the fluid solitaire. I don''t know....I''m just babbling away based on what I felt and heard when I was reading your posts.

Oh, and BTW, I can''t wait to see the "Door Knob".
5.gif

So I finally just read your story...how cute!!!! I love the fact that he wanted a "doorknob" for you...
9.gif

Best of luck in your setting upgrade!!! And I understand your dilemma...before I decided on my ring, I waffled back and forth between smooth fluid solitaire type setting, and something with more sparkle (and as you know, I ultimately went with sparkle, though I do still love a classy solitaire!!)

Door Knob, I think you should go for a classic solitaire and get a blitzy eternity ring. How about that???

~~I agree with Kaleigh, however, I may be a little biased (hint: see avatar) LOL!! I think the solitaire and eternity band is a great classic combination. Also, for the eternity band, there are so many options because solitaires look great with almost anything!!! Good luck!!!!
2.gif

I *almost* went the sleek, fluid solitaire with blingy eternity w-band route. I luuuuuv it!!! That might be a good way to satisfy your craving for both styles, DKS!

I love you guys!!

MINE!! Nice to meet you!
35.gif
thank you for expressing your interest in my madness! Yes I love the halo...but his reply is "You don''t need to make your stone look bigger" (he doesn''t know about shrinkage...the knob is looking like a drawer pull now
6.gif
and he doesn''t know how awesome the halo is...) I really would love to halo. I saw a ring that was a halo with a smooth shank and it was fabulous. Sort of like dirt cheaps halo...looked like a flying saucer...hope that doesn''t offend ...what I mean is it looks suspended. Oh and I love yours! Especially that you were creative enough to to use that fantasic stone for your center. Thanks for the Welcome!

Oh Milly I am thrilled to have gotten a reply from you. I have read all about your and that little sweetie daughter and that bigger handsome sweetie of yours. You have really put alot of thought into my choices. Smooth huh? So you vote for Mark Morrell? Thanks for the support. The second ring is so fun to think about...maybe that would keep me busy for another year. Every one always asks for bling pictures...but I would really like to ask you to post more of that adorable daughter of yours! I adore her! Thanks again for the nice words!

HOUMedGal glad you liked my story...sorry I don''t have a tear jerker to return. A girl needs to shed a tear every once and awhile. But if you guys don''t start warning me before those sappy posts...! After seeing your sparkle, it is going to be hard to go smooth. Question: would you consider your ring as a one ringer? I know you have plans for the band in 2007...but could you have considered wearing that ring alone? That is my plan. Just one slender shank ring. That plan isn''t going to make it a year is it HOUMedgal? Thanks for your input...and keep that blog updated...I am sure people want to see the ring...Post that one as he is slipping it on your finger. It would be great on your blog! It was so nice to meet you! Enjoyed the PM.

Kaleigh, Bling Diva and *almost* sleek with a blingy band HOUMedgal-you guys really dont care if I stay married...you realize what you are asking me to tell him? OK honey...slight change of just a simple white metal upgrade plan... there HAS to be another ring. If I go that way...the way the majority of the board suggests...I will have to demand that we all syncronize our watches...and at the very moment...if I know everyone is with me...I just may have to nerve to tell him. I can''t do it alone!
23.gif
We''ll call it.... The BlingBlitzKrieg of the pricescope sister hood! (Pretty good idea actually!)

Thanks again for all your support, opinions, and Warm Welcome
35.gif
. I really do love you guys!!

If you go with an elegant solitaire setting you will save money. That way you can put those saved dollars and put them towards a great eternity band.
31.gif
Now if you want me to talk to your hubby, just say the word. I do a great job for my friends at home. Their hubbies call me before making any moves, haha.

Ring a Ding Ding...."HELLO ? "-
32.gif
Ah...yes hello? Mr Door Knob, ah sir? About this ring thing...well you see...

yeah this is a good plan.

That is too funny!!!! But seriously, I do it all the time and the guys LISTEN to me. So far I have a great track record. None of my friends have been dissapointed. I worked in the business for years and they know I have their best interest at heart .
