Interesting thread

I was curious...and there was a dime (US) sitting on my desk...I checked my e-ring and WB which are 7+...and the dime does NOT fit inside...but is less than the OD (actually it jest misses fitting in my WB which I believe is a 7.25

Inside diameter (ID) and outside diameter (OD) are infuenced but teh height as well as teh width of the ring

if you guess wrong...try not to be off by too many sizes...may cause problems later

Take the dime and put it inside someone else you knows ring to get the best guestimate...if you can then have a jeweler measure the ring

Best of luck

I just re-read your initial post....

the ring she wears fit completely over the dime with room to spare...eg you can move the dime around inside the ring a little...

based on your measurement that you stated...she may be closer to a 7.75 ish

In Charmy's nice diagram...the measure does not go to the outsice diam of dime and there is still room to go before you reach the inside diam of the ring

take known dia of dime add diff from OD of dime to ID of ring...that should get you close

ETA: DUh...I am so slow some times...just take a dime to the jeweler and see which sizer band comes closest to your example

So anyway, based on an multiple screen measurements, numerous times, using a really zoomed in image, I think it is a size 3.0 ring.

But I''m going to try to confirm that somehow.

get the size 3 and it can be tweeked at little after, if need be. MY DH found out I wore a 4, but got 4 1/2 (total surprise negagement) - it would be worse if you couldn''t get it on at all. I took it to a high end jeweler and they sized it same day b/c I had just gotten engaged!

Mariniers oops...my bad when I looked at your image I thought the ring was on the outside...not on top...that's what I get from late night posting...

Obviously my measurements are way off

sorry

Charmy's pic now makes sense..very nice

can you take the image to a jeweler to compare their sizing rings with you pic

Best of Luck

i wear a 6 which is the exact size of a dime..i just tried it. maybe 5.5?

Just looking at all those numbers is hurting my eyes! You can get a FREE ring sizer kit from most jewelers... and get an exact and accurate size by sticking them on her finger.

Does she have any idea that you are ring shopping?

Hi there,

One fact to consider.

The left hand is at least one size smaller than the right.

So on what hand does she wear the ring you measured?
Not true on me either... my RHR is BARELY too big for my wedding finger!

I just put my 4.25 ring on a dime and it fit perfectly. I''m going to guess it''s 3.75.

yeah, I''m thinking 3.75 - 4. Good luck!

Take her to do an activity where you know she''ll get her fingers dirty! pounce on ring and find new ways to measure =)

I have a solution that would take out all the guesswork, but it''s not for everyone. Propose with just an unmounted stone, then take her to a jeweler, where she can pick out the setting she likes best. No risk of incorrect sizes, and she''ll get exactly what she wants, while still preserving the element of surprise in the engagement.

I think all these posts have proved only one thing: there is NO WAY you're going to accurately guess her ring size using this method.

one things for sure...

i''m dying to know what size she is at this point! :D

good luck!

Well at least you know whatever size diamond you get will look HUGE on her tiny hand!
