I suppose I have "gone over to the orange side" as Mine and Movie Zombie predicted I would! (That just goes to show what a lot of brainwashing will do to you!)

I have asked Bill Pearlman, who carries the Gurhan line, to have Gurhan make up this 24K and orange spessartite ring for me. It is listed on one website under Gurhan''s "one of a kind" pieces as a "delicate spessartite ring".

I am also going to have earrings made to match.

I asked Bill to find out if Gurhan could make up these earrings with orange spessartite (instead of diamonds) to match the ring. I already own the earrings with diamonds and with emeralds, but Gurhan had never advertized them as being available with spessartite. He did say that he would make them up, however!

sounds beautiful Deb. I can''t wait to see pictures!

well, well, deb: you''re going to be the queen of orange if you''re not careful! i think the earrings will be spectacular with the ring.......

peace, movie zombie

ps you weren''t that hard to brainwash!

Wow! You go (orange) girl!

Just a quick one... since you already have the earrings in a couple of versions, could the new ones be made like the head of the ring (i.e. and even bezel) ? Anyway, just thinking of variation, and of the fact that garnets may look better if slightly larger than a dot.

for the project, Deb.

This is what I was thinking about:

Btw. the pictures used for the round spessartites come from HERE.

Btw, about 24k, this is what it means to me - link . The same coils and grains come on medieval buttons and garment studs here.

That these are from Asia (Laos) is no coincidence! Asia is the home of high karat jewelry! I started out my high karat gold "collection", if one could call it that, with a pair of Indian and a pair of Thai earrings! Had I not ventured into an Indian shop while taking my dog to a specialist in another town, I might not be buying Gurhan and Yossi Harari today!

Deb :-)

checked out the ebay link, ana, and they have a 13 carat mandarin for $1000/carat that looks interesting!

re the earrings for comparison: i think you may be right that the smaller bezel around a larger spess might be worth exploring since deb has the other style already.

what do you think, deb? aren''t you glad you''ve come over to the orange side?

and that link for the hmong earrings: divine!

peace, movie zombie

I like the idea of the bigger spess with the smaller halo. I think, that way, the spess will not get lost and overpowered. I cannot wait to see the finished products.. YEAH!!!

That''s going to be really pretty. Congratulations!
