Hi Sassy. I looked into Porta Potties for my outdoor wedding. We decided to use our guest bathroom now but upon researching it they make some pretty snazzy porter pots these days!

They have "wedding ones" that are white and have sink - even have ones with a flush to it. Sounds like how can it... but they do! I think it was $300.00 for the day, set up day before etc.

these were pretty run of the mill porta pottys. I didn''t have to use them til it was dark, and there was no light, which was kind of interesting after a couple of glasses of champagne, high heels, and pitch black.

If you have to have them, I would def. splurge on the nicest available. Where I went to college they have trailers that are air conditioned, they have 6 or so stalls with toilets flush, and they have 4 or so running water sinks with mirrors above. They are amazing! If you can find something like those....here is a smaller version!!

just went to a wedding last night with excellent food! the location felt like a big modern ski lodge, and she decorated with lots of small candles-it was beautiful! the only thing i didn''t love was that they ceremony only lasted 6 minutes! i''m so glad to have seen that though, because my brother is marrying us and i know that i need to make sure that he can keep it going for a while!

Wedding 4

This was the wedding for a close friend of FI.

Likes:

There was no gap between ceremony and reception and they were at the same location; cakes were both delish; the bride looked beautiful; ceremony was very meaningful; the location was very beautiful.

Dislikes:

They had really wanted to be married on their date and took the second of three weddings at their venue that day. When we arrived for their wedding, they had JUST been allowed in about 30 minutes before all the guests arrived. Then we kept being herded around like cattle because they needed to "turn" the ceremony space into the dinner space, so they asked us to "mingle" on the opposite side of the venue, then we came back for our meal, but the buffet was set up in the area where we had been mingling. Immediately after they served the cake, they started clearing the tables and at 4PM told us over the microphone that we had to leave! (Obviously because they needed to prep for the evening wedding!)

Also, this was completely beyond their control and in way a reflection of them, but everyone gave very touching speeches during the toasts, and then the MOH stood up there and started talking about Winston Churchhill and World War II and went on FOREVER...it was awful...even the bride yawned at one point and she would not stop talking!

Fun thread!

I recently went to a wedding held in the bride''s family''s backyard.

Likes: they did a great job with the setting. The bride''s family had put a lot of work into the gardens and it showed. They had enough space to separate the ceremony and reception. A friend did the wedding service and did an excellent job. The bride''s aunts made desserts (7 layer bars, brownies and lemon bars) to go along with the cake - they were delicious! They had portapotties, but they had lights and sinks. I don''t think the light would be good enough to check makeup (you might need to add some of those LED lights they make for closets), but it was good enough that tipsy guests in the dark in heels had no problem.

Dislikes: friends of the groom DJed and they were terrible. Not just choice of music, although they definitely were not choosing music that would please the very wide mix of guests, especially early in the reception. They kept starting and stopping songs, and changing their minds about what to play. Argh! Also, the bride wanted to have favors, so she printed the place cards on paper that had seeds in it, so people could plant them. Unfortunately, the combination of the paper texture and the ink she chose, and the inside of a tent, made it very hard to read the place cards, and no one took them home, so they kind of failed as both place cards and favors.
