Hi Ladies!

You have all been so great to me these past few months, and though I know I haven't contributed too much useful stuff, I wanted to take the opportunity to say thanks for all of your advice, encouragement and friendship! You have made this process a lot more bearable, and I'm sure I'm going to need you a lot more in the months to come since my family and friends don't really want or care to be involved. So, instead of horning in on other people's threads all of the time, I thought I would start one of my own and add to it as things come together. I value all of your comments and input, so please feel free to tell me what you think. Here goes nothing...

We have finally set a date for our Maui wedding...it will be next July at the Kaanapali Beach Club Gardens. If you'd like to check the location out, please go to this LINK. We will get married on a grassy area overlooking the ocean and be able to take pictures in front of the waterfalls, the koi ponds, on the lovely staircase inside and down on the beach at sunset. I think it will be very pretty with the fuschia BM dresses and the celery colored shirts for the guys. I'll try to post some pictures of those below...

ETA: I lied...I can't get any pix to attach...I have contacted Andrey for help. Sorry ladies!

Uh oh...it won't let me post the wedding party attire...I have contacted Andrey and hope he can post them for me!

On to the dresses...

I know many of you saw my initial 99 cent ebay dress thread, but sadly, that dress just isn't going to work. Many of you are aware of my ebay prowess by now, and between the 99 center and last week, I have purchased a total of 6 dresses ranging in price from 50 cents to $10, but today at the post office, "THE" wedding dress had arrived! Of course it is the last one I bid on, and I knew when I did that this dress was the one for me. It is a beautiful ivory lace Oleg Cassini gown (Style #2681) that has been discontinued. It was originally $750 at David's Bridal, and the gal I purchased it from had already had it altered but never wore it. Sad for her, but hooray for me, as we must be dress twins! She spent over $200 on the alterations, and she must have been almost identical to my size as I don't think much change is needed at all! I got it today and couldn't believe my good fortune! It is exactly the right length, it fits almost perfectly in all areas, and I think the only alteration I will need to make is to let the straps out about a 1/2" or so as the "girls" are a little squished!

So, you ask, how much did I pay for this one??? This was by far my most extravagant purchase so far with a winning bid of $51 with $24 shipping costs, for a grand total of $75 WITH a brand new David's Bridal gown bag, I have a stunning dress! (For those of you who wonder how I dare to buy dresses sight unseen, I had emailed the seller and she gave me all of her measurements as well as all of the exact dress measurements...except for my chest being a bit squished and the hips being a bit loose, she was spot on! It is so very comfortable and easy to wear, and even has the bustle buttons and is ready to walk me down the aisle! I can't wait!

Yippee!! Harleigh I couldn''t be happier for you! Well, yes...I could...I reeely wanted that .99 cent one to work! Can''t wait to see the new one! And you still rock in the shopping department! Her measurements were truly that close to yours? Too freaky!!!

Ok...waiting. Just waiting....you got that photo loaded yet?

Everything sounds so perfect!!

Hi DKS,

Thanks so much, sweetie!! You know, after I saw the 99 cent one on me, I decided that all satin was not for me at all, and the bright white didn''t do much for me, either! After seeing the cream dresses here on PS as opposed to white white dresses, I knew I needed something with a little bit of warmth to the color. Another gal was selling the same dress, used, though, for $250 at the same time...I think I got a heck of a deal!
36.gif
I also wanted something that would be appropriate for a beach wedding that still allowed me to feel like a bride without having to give up anything.

Andrey, bless his heart, got the pictures posted for me, so hopefully you can go check them out... It is becoming more and more apparent that I need to take courses in Monogram Making and Picture Posting 101...I feel like such a nincompoop...sheesh!

As for the measurements being so similar to the seller''s, it was almost eery! My bust was a bit (well, quite a bit!
28.gif
)bigger and I am a little taller than her, but I will let the straps out a bit and just get shorter shoes to make the length perfect! Also, since I just recently fell again when my ankle went out at a funeral 2 weeks ago, much as I ADORE wearing high heels, shorter ones will probably be safer all around! I''d rather make it all the way up the aisle rather than have the sexiest heels around!

Well, let me know what you think after you check out the pictures!

Hi lucky!

Thanks so much...I''m so glad to hear you like it! I love it, too, and I love, love, love that I won''t have to pay anyone to have any alterations done! Yippee! Yahoo!

P.S. Sorry for the cruddy wedding dress pictures...I still haven''t mastered the "Take a picture of yourself in the mirror" yet!

We''re taking our engagement photos this Sunday and then my BFF is going to try to come up next week to take some pictures of me in the new dress...I''ll be sure to have Andrey

post some of those when I get them...

Thanks again, Andrey! You rock!

Harleigh,
I love the new dress, it''s absolutely gorgeous on you!! Love the detail of the lace. Just perfection!!!

Aww, thank so much, Kaleigh!

I think I am finally starting to feel like a real bride! YAY!!!

Amazing! You so rock! That dress fits you perfectly! I love it!

The lacy sheathing is so wispy and breezy. So feminine! You have such a cute little figure! No wonder you look great in all the dresses! Oh, Your girls dresses will be so appropriate too! The colors will be so vivid against the azure blue water and sky...and green grass! It is going to POP...mouth watering juicy pop!

Funny how the order of photos posted. I thought the first was your dress...I tilted my head to the left...then to the right...and said...Harleigh...that is no dress...I don''t care what price you stole it for...THAT IS A MANS shirt! Harleigh!!!....tell me you didn''t get snookered on that purchase. I thought the shirt was what they sent you!! Then I scrolled to the next one...oh I see, it is a mans shirt...your dress was to follow. Whew...I have to learn not to be so high strung.

Have you made up your mind on flowers etc? I am really liking it so far!

Yippee! Are you giddy? Ah...duh...wouldn''t we all be...$51 clams and it fit like that! Great job!!!

DKS

(DKS, you are too funny...I thought the same thing scrolling down the first time!)

Harleigh.... I. love. that. dress. Seriously woman, you''ve really outdone yourself this time, so glad this is the final contender. It''s gorgeous, fits you and flatters you like no other dress could! Course I''m a bit biased, I wore a dress that was verrrry similar in cut and style to yours and I loved it! DH loved it as well, for the record, and he had absolutely no idea what I was going to choose! Anyway, I love the bridal party attire as well, I think you''ve made fabulous choices all around!

LMAO!!! I sent the pix to Andrey in the order I thought they would be posted, but for some reason they didn''t appear in that order! I was kind of surprised, too, but I was so appreciative of Andrey posting them all (and I sent him A LOT!) that I didn''t really care what order they were in!

You get the gist, after all, right?
36.gif
(Though I really think I could pull of that shirt...

)

Thanks so much for the kind compliments, btw! I only have you gals on here and my best friend to help me with any of this, so I appreciate all of your feedback. I''m glad you like the BM''s colors, too...those are my $24.99 beauties I picked up at ROSS-the color is the same as the ''Azalea'' color found at David''s Bridal and for the price, just can''t be beat...they still have their $79.99 price tags on them...woo hoo! The men''s silk shirts are from Mervyn''s, originally $45 and we got them all on clearance for $16.78 each! I just love bargain shopping!

As of now, I have no clue on the flowers...I was thinking something with dark pinks, light greens and a bit of cream for me and then mostly cream with some pink and light green accents for my girls...since we reserved our location and coordinator just yesterday, I haven''t even had a chance to figure anything out. I have been keeping track of the "Show me your bouquet" thread and will start compiling a file of ones I like to send to the folks in HI when the time comes.

And yes, I amfinally starting to feel giddy! I never knew what having a date set and a deposit paid could do for my well-being and mind-set, and to top it all off, when I got my hands on that dress today, I was absolutely ecstatic! Today was great, and tomorrow is looking a whole lot brighter, too, let me tell ya!

Hope you have a great night, my diamond twinkie!

Harleigh, everything looks beautiful! And your dress looks amazing on you!!! I love the overlay.... it's so airy and romantic and will be perfect for the beach. Oh and I love the colors.... pink and green were some of our colors and I think those vibrant shades are great for summer! Especially in Hawaii.... they have all that great bright floral like green cymbidiums and pink orchids.

Oooo I saw that you posted about floral. I have a few pics saved of pink and green combos and I love this bouquet. It actually has orange in it but you could replace that color with cream. So instead it'd be green cymbidum orchids, dark pink/fushia roses, and cream floral like maybe cream roses, orchids, or hydrangea?

knottie weezermonkey's beautiful bouquet....

Hi chellebelle,

Thanks for your kind words!

I love that bouquet you posted, and I actually REALLY like the orange in it, too! I personally love bright colors, so no one would be surprised if I showed up with a bit more color in mine! I think it might have been zoe or anchor who posted about putting orange in the wedding somehow, and fell in love with half of what I saw, so I saved a BUNCH of those pictures! Again I''m rethinking the plain ''ol cream flowers...

I can''t wait to get the planning started!!1

Thank you again for taking the time to share! I can only hope my wedding comes close to being as beautiful as yours! (I keep going back to check them all out!)
