Healthy Living Thread

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, I only got up to about 75 today since some people insist on going the speed limit. What were they thinking?

Even if you don't give everyone glassware for Christmas you've got presents you can wrap up if you need something at the last minute. I usually pick up a few gift cards for those emergencies.

You are doing good on your no carbs - I sure don't eat as many as I did but I reach a point about every 4 to 6 weeks where I am so sick of beef I can't stand it. I am going back to PBJ's on Friday. That's great it's working for you though. I hate those in between sizes. I held out so long it was at least 2 sizes different. My Cuddl Duds pj's were in the mailbox; they were so soft I washed them last night and wore them. Why have I lived for decades without then? I might buy 6 more pairs so I'm ready for retirement. Ha Ha.

Sorry the call with your boss was as miserable as expected. I showed my card to a few people at work; they were amused. The first big snow storm might firm up my retirement day.

I have to tell you my kind of amusing ruby story. Marty's grandma had a large ruby ring - about 12 x 18mm and I've never believed it was a genuine ruby - primarily because it's very clear, set in 10K gold and even 50 - 60 years ago it would probably have been more than they would be willing to spend on jewelry. My SIL inherited it and it's now in my jewelry box for safekeeping. One time after a few glasses of wine his parents were talking about it and I told his parents and sister I didn't think it was a real ruby which didn't go over well. So anyway, WF notified me on Monday they received my package and would confirm the contents within 3 days. I heard nothing so this morning I was thinking about that and the thought popped in my head that I always say grandma's ruby isn't real but maybe WF determined it's my rubies that weren't real. It never pays to get cocky. About 20 minutes later I get the email from WF saying my contents have been confirmed and my order will proceed The earrings should ship Nov, 18. I know, I think of weird things. I totally get why WF would verify the authenticity of what you send them.

Yay tomorrow is Friday.

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, the new Macan is available - the new GTS has 59 more horse power, 22 more torque, 7 more miles top speed and the base price starts at over 7K more. Think I'll keep this CurbyMobile. I can get in plenty of trouble with what I have now.

Yay it's the weekend! Marty is going moose hunting again in the morning. I plan on sleeping in and going to spend my $20 Kohl's cash on a few more tops that fit me. I also have to get the November newsletter done for the astronomy club. We have a drive through animated dinosaur exhibit at the mall, Marty said it looked kind of lame. I definitely will see if there are any pictures worth taking though.

Speaking of it's the weekend I was contemplating today how nice it will be when I don't give a darn what day of the week it is, and trust me today tested my patience but hey I did rebuild the guide so people living in Puerto Rico know where to watch the World Series. Of course since I don't speak Spanish what that one network says may or may not have been related to baseball. My "replacement" caused havoc today and I have to keep politely remind her - don't just do things - please ask questions. Today I'd say she is not going to fill my shoes very well for a long time.

Stupid new attendance rules start on Monday as well - all my employees are hourly so they get docked points for checking in late, going home early, obviously for failure to show up for the day. This one is really stupid - they can call in the last 5 minutes of their shift and not get fired for being a no show. That will be fun to track; and pretty crappy because they all get in their 40 hours a week. November is a "test" run and then it starts officially December 1st. Really? If they notify me an hour before their shift they are going to be late or inside the first 2 hours of their shift they want to go home early then that's okay. My babysitting duties continue. It's comforting to know I have my resignation card ready.

They are expecting cold and several inches of snow on Halloween - what will I do with all that candy if the trick or treaters don't knock on our door?

Laters.

Happy Saturday kids!

Curby, the new rules for tracking employee attendance sound awesome -- NOT! LOL about setting things up for the world series in PR. My Spanish starts with cerveza and ends with tequila with only an ole in between! I hear you on the extra HP, etc., with the new GTS. The current Billy Ray has 50 more HP than the previous one since it's an S. Sadly most of the OTHER horses rarely made it out of the stable, let alone all these extra ones! Did Marty find his moose?!

Yesterday I went to two estate sales, did some work stuff (quarterly certifications due... AGAIN), got the 10K maintenance done in my Audi, managed to get four listings up, and tried to make a dent in the mess in the family room. That part was only semi-successful.

Today I am going to run by two auctions, but am really really hoping there's nothing I want!!! And then we need to leave around noon for a wedding in Iowa. Hopefully tomorrow I'll make some progress on listings because it is Crunch Time!

Happy Saturday!

Dee Jay, it's true those extra horses don't get used nor do they seem necessary but it did get my attention. I have no complaints about the CurbyMobile though. This one has 15 more hp than the blue Macan.

Yes, the attendance tracking is absurd; I can go adjust their time cards but sadly I have to leave a note why I am changing it. Then again - what are they going to do - fire me?

I totally laughed at your Spanish knowledge - I've got ole down pat.

Marty's moose continue to outsmart him. He was there 2 hours before sunrise. Nothing. After the sun came up he waited and waited, moose tracks everywhere. He finally kind of followed them; found a little pond where it looks like they use their hooves to punch through the ice and yet no moose were in sight. I told him they know you are looking for them.

Darn you are working on quarterly certificates again. Good deal you got the 10K maintenance done of your Audi. I am taking my car in Tuesday - they are calling it the 10,000K maintenance but I'm only at 6 1/2 months and under 5000 miles. That's okay though, I'll get whatever done they figure I need.

Did you find anything at the auction today? How was the wedding?

Marty was off moose hunting at about 4 am. I slept in until 7:15. Such a treat. After showering I went grocery shopping. Marty got home right after I took care of everything (how convenient for him) and we went out for breakfast. We stopped at Kohl's so I could spend my $20 Kohl's cash where I got 2 more tops that fit me and picked up another similar shade of mauve OPI nail polish. We drove by the dinosaur display at the mall; the dinosaurs would be cool in your yard but they were lined up in several rows and fenced off so it looked kind of lame. We topped off my gas tank (after pledging to donate a kidney) and came home. I've been working on the club newsletter today and finished my eclipse article for the local paper. Laundry is done too.

Marty is not feeling well so my plans to have grilled T-bones for supper was foiled but I ordered in an individual pizza from Old Chicago. I cut my carbs by moving my canadian bacon and pineapple to other pieces so I ate half of the pizza thin crust but all the toppings.

Snow is still in the forecast. Boo!

Hi Kids!

Happy Halloween! I have my huge Tupperware bowl full of assorted mini candy bars - I did test 3 of them to make sure they were edible. You know - for the kids.

It's been raining all day but snow remains in the forecast.

I got my November newsletter posted, did one more batch of laundry, did my lifting, filed out the paperwork for my periodontist appointment Tuesday and wish it was dinner time since I can smell the crock pot roast and it's making me hungry. I have baked potatoes in the oven.

Can it be Monday again tomorrow? Phooey.

Curby

Happy Monday kids!

Curby, did you get a lot of trick or treaters? Liam went to Costco at 3 pm yesterday to buy a big bag of candy. They were all sold out... surprise, surprise. So he went to Meijer and came home with A TON of peanut butter cups. My nemesis. Let's just say I may have gone a little willllllld. It's the first time I've cheated since my birthday over Labor Day so I guess it's OK. You reminded me that I should get the crock pot out and make a plan to use it!

Yesterday I put up nine listings -- woo hoo! I actually took pictures for a tenth listing, but when I took a l better look at the glasses I decided they weren't saleable. There's this thing were older glass becomes "sick." That the actual phrase used, and it means that the glass has been etched by virtue of going through the dishwasher. I'm so sad because these glasses are GORGEOUS, and at first I assumed they were just filthy (not uncommon, especially when they have been sitting down in someone's basement bar for years!), but nope. I got into bed relatively early since I have to be up at the a$$ crack of dawn on Mondays... and wasn't under the covers five minutes when I had an order come through! So I got up and packed it, because otherwise it wouldn't go out until Wednesday.

I finally got confirmation about a spot for Billy Ray for the winter, so my plan is to drop him off on Thursday. Not a minute too soon -- we're dropping below freezing now at night and it makes me nervous to have the tires get that cold.

Today we have a new person starting in my group. Repeat after me: "I'm old. I can. And I WILL!"

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, I have a full sized PB cup candy bar in my frig. They handed out candy at work. I remember they were one of your favorites. Have you tried the white chocolate bite size PB cups? I love them! We did have a lot of trick or treaters; I am guessing at least 150 kids. Our assorted mini packs added up to 840 pieces of candy. I probably dropped between 3 to 6 pieces of candy in each kids bag and we ran out in 2 hours. Yes, I did eat a few but they were minis and I didn't eat that many. I felt bad I almost shut the door and shut off our lights with about 2 dozen pieces of candy left but didn't' then about 4 kids came to the door - perfect. Then about 8 more showed up. I gave them each one piece until it was gone and had to say - sorry I just ran out of candy. Oh well.

Yes, this is good crock pot weather. It was icy this morning topped with slushy snow. At least Marty said his new tires worked great on the ice. More snow tonight then back to the 40's and 50's again.

I'll go check out your new stuff; that is interesting about glasses being sick but I can totally picture what you are talking about. I have seen glasses like that. Oh no you had to get up and pack an order but nice to get it on the way.

Yay for finding a home for Billy Ray for the winter. I used to keep my 66 mustang at my dad's shop in the winter; once he sold his business we sold the car. It was not a winter car.

I have my periodontist appointment in the morning to see if they can cut down my gum and bone so they can put a crown on that tooth. Sounds painful but I guess better than losing the tooth. Then I am heading to Fort Collins for my 6 month maintenance. Yay a day off.

Take care.
Curby

Happy Tuesday kids!

Curby, how was the periodontist? That's not exactly a super fun way to spend a day off!

Just a quickie because I'm swamped and need a two minute distraction. I was at my office until after 10 last night. I did get a lot done, but honestly I could have stayed all night and it still wouldn't have been enough! Typically I would go back up north tonight but I think I may stay over and come back into the office again tomorrow.

Someone bought all three Fostoria American red pieces (bowl, candy dish and vase). I wonder if she will keep them or give them as gifts?

Ok, back to the grindstone...

Hi Kids.

Dee Jay, sounds like you are very busy at work. Another reason to turn in our cards. Ha ha.

That is great you sold a bunch of the red Fostoria. I think my mom had some of those glasses. They were similar anyway. When I retire I’ll hunt through old pictures and see if I can find pictures of the table on holidays.

As for my morning torture session she measured the depth of all teeth in like 3 or 4 spots. I need another one of those periodontal deep cleaning which makes me wonder how well they did that at the dentist. One side was worse than the other and I had 2 different gals clean them before and I definitely could tell one was more thorough than the other and this confirmed my suspicions. Those appointments are in February and March. Then after she feels the rest of my teeth are recovering then she can lengthen that broken tooth so I can get a crown on it. They gave me the bill already too. Hopefully insurance covers a bunch of it. My teeth are about achy but not bad.

i am at the Porsche dealer now waiting for my car. They have an old 1966 Porsche in the showroom. Inventory is low here. My blue Macan is still out in the parking lot. They can order the part now and are waiting on a specific tool to fix it. I told them at least you can sell it for more than you could in April.

it’s cold and rainy today but it should still be warm enough not to turn to snow before I head home. I picked up the stuff to make mini meat loaves for supper today I figured those would be easy to eat with achy teeth.

Curby

Happy Wednesday kids!

Curby, that vintage green Porsche is great! I just love old cars like that. Are you having a crown lengenthing? I had to do that for one tooth so I could get an implant because a total hack gave me the worst root canal ever and ground the tooth down too far in my mid 20s and it's been an issue ever since. Hopefully yours all turns out better! As for car prices... I am mildly (very mildly!) tempted to sell Billy Ray just because I could get so much now... but I couldn't replace him for that $ so I can't imagine I will actually do it!

Yesterday was another looooong day. Around 8 pm my boss finally handed me something I needed but can finish from home so I high tailed it back to my condo, hopped in my car, and drove north! When I got here I packed up four orders that had come in on Monday and Tuesday. It took until after midnight but I was glad to get it done.

I need to run by the local packaging supply manufacturer today and pick up my boxes, bubble wrap and peanuts. It's been two weeks and they still haven't called me to tell me it's ready, but I'm going anyway. If this is their turn around time I'm ordering a sh!t ton of stuff NOW for x-mas!

Alright. Off to get this show started!

If you get a second Curby, would you take a look at my shop? I updated the banner at the top to show gift wrapping is available and I've looked at it so many times that I'm cross-eyed so I finally gave up and just published it! Paint is not a very user friendly program...

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, selling cars right now is like selling your house - you get more for it but replacing it costs more too. When I saw the classic Porsche in the show room I knew both you and Marty would enjoy seeing a picture of it. Pretty cool looking.

Your new banner looks nice - beautiful gift wrap. I like the paper and bows and tags oh my!

Sorry your tooth lengthening didn't go well. I have a crown on the lower left that bugs me all the time. It shifted when he cemented it and tried to get it back off but it wouldn't budge. Then one of my employees brought in homemade peanut brittle at Christmas one time and it felt like it cracked that tooth of crown.

Good idea to head home last night and get some orders ready to ship. That is so cool you are moving things on a regular basis. I hope you were able to get your packing material today.

I woke up at 5 am today and couldn't go back to sleep. I did get a decent shot of the skinny crescent Moon with a speck right by it which is Mercury.

Work was quite busy today and the new gal came to me and wants to do a few tasks for a week or so to get a better understanding of things - I think that is a great idea. She also called me a b*tch under her breathe - I was walking by right then and said "thank you." She missed quite a few things yesterday so I had showed her those things and well there you go. Too funny. I did let my boss know IMO so far she is not going to be my replacement and doesn't handle stress very well. When she makes a mistake she gets flustered and then it just snowballs. She told me the job entailed a lot more to learn than she thought and she was struggling to keep everything straight. I had already pulled some paperwork and wrote notes all over them - this is what you do here. I hope that repetition makes it easier for her. Since I hope to say sorry for your loss next month I am going to train 2 of my other employees how to do some of my things. I did tell the boss when I was talking to him I am thinking of retiring next month. He again wasn't surprised.

I have a pain in my head where I whacked it last year and I am having a muscle twitch on my upper lip - is it my head or a reaction from pointy things stuck in my mouth yesterday?

Off to order or Christmas presents.

Happy Thursday kids!

Curby, thank you for looking at my banner! I'm not 100% happy with it, but it is what it is at this point. Next year I'll do it differently. Then again, after the big PITA it was to get it up as it is maybe I'll just reuse it! I can't believe that the lady called you a b!tch -- I would let her have it!!! The packing material adventure was exactly that -- an adventure! I had NO IDEA how much (a) 20 CUF of packing peanuts actually is and (b) that the bubble wrap rolls were going to be so humongous! I posted a couple of pics in the tell me something good thread in hangout because it was just so ridiculous. Liam had to come with his truck after work and get the bubble wrap for me. I could have done it in two trips, but that would have made three total since I was already full with the three sizes of boxes and the peanuts.

Honestly I have no idea where yesterday went. I did talk to a new person we hired for our team about a function I want her to take over and we're going to run through it together as a test run for the first time today at 10:30.

I've got two orders to pack up from overnight so I'll get those ready for the post office and take BR for one last big outing for the season, including running by the car wash because he's going away for the season this afternoon.

OK, up and at 'em!

Happy Friday kids!

I was up until after midnight working on the annual review... and then I didn't sleep well at all and since I was awake again (still ?!) at 6:30 I went to an estate sale. I got all the glasses I wanted, and when I went into the living room to pay I saw an absolutely gorgeous silk oriental rug -- for only $300! I bought that thing so fast!!! I would like to put it under my dining room table downtown, but it might be too big, in which case I'll see if works under the sofas and coffee table. Regardless, I was NOT going to pass that baby up!

Then I came home, worked on the review some more, took a shower, picked up Liam and took him to pick up his newly painted and decaled Trans Am, and just woke up from a little nap -- which I desperately needed! Now I need to go downstairs and send the review to my boss. Even though it's not 100% done, he hasn't called me back to go over the open items so I'm sending it anyway.

We'd going to dinner with friends tonight and I'm really looking forward to it!

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, those packing supplies you picked up are massive! They should last you for a while.

I was mostly amused by that lady calling me that under her breathe. After telling my boss she wasn't cutting it so far he talked to my one employee I suggested in the first place as my replacement and she agreed to accept the position. Apparently she has always told him she didn't want anything to do with management. I think she'll do great! I felt like a huge stumbling block and weight was lifted off me. Even if I can't get her fully trained I have complete faith in her abilities. I talked to the senior manager today just because I wanted to tell him in person I planned on retiring soon. I did ask if my retirement present could be free TV but I got a big NO on that one. Darn.

How sad to take Billy Ray out for the last ride of the season; at least you gave it a bath first. My car is filthy but I plan to correct that this weekend as long as I can get Marty to drive it to the car wash; we know how inept I am at paying at a car wash.

You are very welcome that I checked out your Christmas background. Sorry it was a PITA to get loaded.

Darn you had such a short night; I hate those nights. Good deal you got the glasses you want and scored a great rug. I need to get Marty's camera ordered for Christmas but I am stalling because I can't decide what lens I want to buy for myself. His camera isn't scheduled to ship until December 30 so I need to order it so he is on the "List". I kind of want a larger mm size macro lens but keep thinking do I need more lenses? I wish I hadn't bought the 35mm macro lens. It works great on flowers but not much else; it's not bad for scenery pictures either. Once I retire I can play with my camera more often.

I hope you got the review sent to your boss. Enjoy dinner tonight.

I started the day at the dentist getting a brutal cleaning - I hate new dental hygienist. There is a shortage of them in town so there is a massive turnover and constant turnover. My teeth hurt so bad mashed potatoes were hard to chew tonight. Hopefully they feel better tomorrow.

Marty is moose hunting again tomorrow. I have a hair cut at 10 - other than that we have no plans. Yay!

Take care.
Curby

Sweet Liam got his Trans Am back. I won't mind seeing a picture. Hint Hint. That makes me think of Smoky and the Bandit.

Happy Saturday kids!

Curby, I'll try to get you a pic of the car -- it really looks great, especially compared to what it looked like before the new paint job and decals! You're getting Marty a new camera for x-mas... ? I thought he just got a new camera? Or maybe I'm misremembering. You should get him one with a neck strap because when he finally finds that moose he better be prepared to RUN if it decides it doesn't want its picture taken! I'm sorry your dental appointment wasn't very pleasant. I go in on Tuesday to get my permanent crown put on. Finally. LOL on them finally approaching the person you told them to talk to in the first place about your retirement. Why oh why don't they just listen to us from the beginning?!

Last night's dinner was a ton of fun! It was two other couples besides us and I hadn't met the wife of one of the guys before so I really enjoyed that. Today I need to do a bunch of listing (of course) before we head out around 1:30 for the 'burbs. We're meeting up at someone's house for a few hours and then going to the Northwestern football game tonight, both my and Liam's alma matter. Northwestern... good education, but sports, ha ha. We're playing Iowa and I fully expect us to get creamed! I'm trying to figure out what to wear because it's going to be pretty chilly and this is the first time I'll be outside for any extended period this season. I always over-dress but I figure I can unzip my coat or take a layer off, which is preferable than standing in the concrete stadium freezing my butt off with no options.

I had some new jeans delivered yesterday and it reminded me I need to go through my pile and try some on. This in-between size thing is for the birds! I shouldn't be complaining (I'm down 20+ pounds!), but not knowing what fits and what doesn't from week to week makes getting dressed a challenge some days.

Well I guess I should get up and start taking photos because the light in the kitchen is really good from now until about noon.

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, good deal the Trans Am turned out great.

Yes, Marty did just get a new camera last spring before I did. This camera is on his Christmas wish list though. This one has higher resolution and can shoot more continuous shots. He can leave his other camera on the mount at his desk for meetings. I've been rather disappointed in my latest lens and my inability to get sharp scenery photos if there are foreground objects. Marty used a tripod today and tried all of my lenses today and that new lens seemed to mess that up on him too. The other lenses worked okay though. The new lens takes great, sharp pictures if the subject is equal distance or close up though. Phooey. He thinks I should take over his old camera when he gets the new camera and we share lenses - but I still don't want to do that. Ha Ha.

I told Marty what you said about being able to run from that moose; he said I am sure I'd be pretty quick if one was coming after me. He didn't see a single animal today. He did get some nice pictures though.

I am glad you are finally getting your crown this week - I might get mine in May. Stupid teeth problems.

It would be nice if people would listen to us at work. What do we know about our jobs?

Sounds like you had a great time last night. Fun to be going to a college game tonight - I hope your alma matter won. My college team started out great this year and I believe has lost every game since then. Stay warm!

Between sizes is a good thing but can be annoying - the pants I wore today I am sure would have fallen off if I sneezed. They were comfy though.

We had a busy day. Marty was up and gone very early on his moose hunt. I took a few sunrise pictures then took my shower. I had a hair cut first thing and then we took care of some banking business. Marty drove my car through the car wash, we picked up groceries then spent hours messing with my camera. We went to eat at Olive Garden then stopped at Target to wander around.

Laters,
Curby

Happy Sunday kids!

Curby, you reminded me that I wanted to run by Target. I only drive by it pretty much every damn time I go anywhere here because it's on the main drag, but I don't think of it until it's too late because the sign is not obvious until I'm going beyond the turn-in. Northwestern was sorely beaten by Iowa last night. None of us were surprised, LOL. I was plenty warm enough from the ankles up, but my toes were freezing by the end. A couple of years ago I asked my dad for heated socks for x-mas but I don't think I've ever taken them out of the box. I need to find them though because they'd also be great for winter auctions. Hmmm... I wonder where they are...

Today I was thinking of going to Costco but getting pictures done while there's good light is probably more important at this point. I keep thinking I'm making progress... and then I look in the dining room... !

Alright, off like a prom dress. :cheeky:

Hi Kids,

Dee Jay, nice you have a nearby target - ours is close to us as well. I need to run by Target again - the antenna we picked up doesn't pull in the local CBS which was the one channel I really wanted. Oh well; I've figured it out.

Darn your team lost last night and your toes got cold. Battery operated socks do work pretty well for me but they seem to cool off fast. I used to wear them at star parties but they only kept my toes toasty for about 30 - 40 minutes of course that was out in subzero weather and I found Sorel boots worked as well.

Off like a Prom Dress. LMAO!

Not much going on today - just finishing laundry, I did my lifting today and we are having grilled steaks here shortly. I am excited season 4 of Yellowstone starts in 2 and 1/2 hours.

Laters,
Curby

Happy Monday kids!

Curby, I have tried various boots over the years, but when I'm standing outside after a while no matter what I have one my toes are like little popsicles! We were supposed to have grilled steaks last night too... but things didn't exactly pan out that way. Liam headed to an auction early and I spent the day taking pictures. Around 2 pm I just couldn't look at one more glass so I went to Costco, thinking I would go back to the house, unload, and put up listings until Liam got home. Well, just as I was pulling back in he called and said he'd bought so much stuff that it wouldn't all fit in his truck (!!!!!) and asked if I could come and help him. So that was 45 minutes in each direction, plus the loading and unloading. I also sold something while I was driving so I wanted to pack that up when I got home since I'll be downtown tonight. And then it was bedtime... LOL.

This morning I got a late start and didn't make it to my office until about 9:45. Oops. Part of that was putting down the rug in the dining room that I bought last week. It really looks great!

I'm working on updating policies today. Borrrrrrinnnnnnng. But at least my boss is out, so I got that going for me, which is nice!

BTW, I just emailed Ilya about the prongs on my gray spinel. Hopefully he will be willing to fix them!

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, I am sure Ilya will be quite gracious about fixing the prongs on your gray spinel. You may as well totally enjoy that ring. Once you spot a flaw you always see it. I am very anxious to see my ruby halo studs - maybe next Friday they will show up.

I totally get what you mean about boots - my Sorels have been the best boots I have but I feel like I am walking on cement blocks with them. Once your feet get cold too you can't get them warm again until you get back inside.

Liam must have made quite a haul at the auction if it wouldn't all fit in the pickup. You certainly had a busy day and darn you didn't get grilled steaks. I'd picked up some thick t-bones and there was no way I could eat all of it so Marty got over 1/2 of the strip side - I didn't share the filet side. Ha Ha. My mom didn't raise a dumb kid!

Good deal your new rug looks awesome! When you mentioned your rug deal the other day I was thinking I'm getting tired of my current area rugs but they aren't even over 2 years old yet. I must have a shopping problem.

I was working on procedures today as well. It does get boring. I finished the general procedure book and started a new folder called Marcy's Stuff. I did talk to all of my employees today and let them know I was planning on retiring next month. I told them to pick my brain while they can. My boss suggested I have another employee take over the new lady's training so I can work with the other employee who will most likely move in to my position. Good idea.

I took care of assorted weird things today including returning something to Target, stopping by the bank, dropping off some stuff at the gym and pick up a few groceries. I need to pick up some of the St. Jude's Teddy Bears at Kays and drop them off at the bank for the Marine Toys for Tots box. I need to get my blood drawn sometime this week then I think my errands and chores for the month are done.

It got cold again today and like an idiot I left my coat hanging at my desk. I was too lazy to go back and get it though. Speaking of smaller sizes some of my sweaters I couldn't wear for a while fit again and I am loving them - they are so warm. They are sweatshirt snap cardigans with fleece lining. I was actually toasty warm at work today. Sweet!

Laters,

Happy Tuesday kids!

Curby, you were right! I took the ring to Ilya this morning and it's going to be fixed! As for your rugs... you're talking to the wrong person here, LOL, because I love (a) jewelry, (b) old glass, (c) scarves, (d) rugs! Can yo put the current ones somewhere else, like maybe in the man cave (?), so you wouldn't feel bad about getting new ones? You're really going to retire next month?!?!?! Wow!!! That's AWESOME! I was going to run by Kay's and look for something for my mom for x-mas but I found a pair of opal earrings with a little diamond halo while I was over on jeweler's row this morning so now I'm set on that front. Actually, I've been looking at my x-mas list these past two days and ordering stuff like mad! I also got some super cute stocking stuffers/gag gifts today at CVS, so I am a bit relieved. This is wayyyy late for me and the pressure was mounting, ha ha.

Last night dinner with my friends was a ton of fun! One of them just opened an Etsy store so I favorited it and bought something so she could see how the whole thing works. It should all be so simple, but you really need to run through it the first time to get a real feel for the actual process.

I can't decide if my new crown is too high or if I just notice it because it's something new in my mouth. I'll give it some time and see.

Today I'm going with my friend here in HR and we're getting our boosters at a nearby Walgreens right after work. I'm also getting a flu shot, which I've never done before, so I hope I don't feel like utter crap tomorrow!

Alright, off to do some training.

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, nice you got your ring turned in to be fixed. Sweet.

I like you list of things you love. Mine would be 1. Jewelry, 2. Snoopy and Teddy Bears 3. Cameras 4. Fast cars

I could move the rugs down to the man cave but most of the man cave is carpeted. One of the Christmas catalogs we got in the mail had some gorgeous rugs which made me think ooh that would look nice in here.

Yes, I think I will retire December 24th - and actually only work through the 22nd since we have Thursday and Friday off as a holiday. I guess they can no more than tell me nope we aren't paying you those 2 days. We need to get a weeks worth of work M - W that week so I am sure they could use my help. Our checks come out on the 31st so I wouldn't have any income there in 2022. That is my plan as of now. Subject to change though. Ha Ha.

Opal earrings in a halo sound really pretty. I really like opals but never wore the one I had. I need to get busy shopping too.

Dinner sounds fun and small world one of your friends just started an Etsy shop - what are they selling?

I hope your crown is okay; it does take a while for me to adjust to something new in my mouth. That temp crown I have feels rough and smashed up but neither the periodontist or dental hygienist suggested it needed replaced.

Good luck with your shots.

I worked on more procedures today and met with the lady I will train on some of my weird stuff. We were going to work on training the last hour but she got busy on an update. I emailed out requests to add her to this, that and the other thing and she got instant respones on those so we are mostly set there.

My rings are starting to really fall around on my fingers. That's a good thing but what a PITA!

Happy Wednesday kids!

Curby, oh yessssssss -- please add fast cars to my list too! I've never been an opal fan myself, but my mom loves them. She had a ring made when I was little that had alternating oval shaped opals and garnets (her birthstone). I know it sounds weird, but it was a pretty ring! My friend is selling prints and note cards from her photography. She takes really cool pictures of nature things like leaves. Her store is LeavingsArt. (https://www.etsy.com/shop/LeavingsArt?ref=search_shop_redirect) The crown seems to be doing ok... I did notice it last night when I was trying to fall asleep. I was lying on that side and the pillow was all humped up under my face right there. But who knows; a week from now I might not even give it a second thought. It would be super rude of them to not pay you those extra two days! But I don't put anything past a company nowadays. My rings are always sliding around so I use those spiral plastic thingys. They are a life saver! And since they come in different thicknesses you can use them with pretty much any ring. Do you know what I mean? I can send you some. I'm happy to report I seem to have lived through the night, ha ha. My arm is a little sore, but like a 1.5 on a scale of 10, and that could be from getting the flu shot at the same time. If what I'm reading is correct I should be in the clear for the common side effect now that I'm well more that 12 hours out. If anything changes in terms of my alive status I'll be sure to have Liam let you know! :cheeky:

Today I need to finish up the policy project I've been "working on" for weeks now. When my boss gets back next week if those aren't done I'll be joining you in retirement, LOL. I also never finished putting up the listings from last weekend. Actually maybe I'll do those now since it's only a bit after seven and I don't have anything pressing until a ten o'clock call.

When I run the packages to the post office and to Fed Ex today I am going to stop at CVS out here and see what they have for stocking stuffers. Yesterday I got these super cute candles that smell like Hostess Twinkies, Apple Pies and Hershey's Birthday Cake Kisses. I bought all they had at the CVS by my office and I would love a bunch more because these are adorable! I also got a Darth Vader "clapper" that you plug into a socket and then plug a lap into that so when you clap it says things like "you underestimate the power of the dark side" when the light turns on and off. I've got two people that are gonna LOVE that thing!

Better get hoppin' if I'm going to list before I get in the shower!

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay, fast cars are a must.

I’m totally relieved you woke up today and didn’t have any major issues or repercussions from your shots. Woo Hoo! Score! Hopefully your tooth blends in with your other teeth in no time.

Your friends photos look great! Very nice.

The lady I am training now has a ring similar to what your mom had that has a garnet on one side and opal on the other. She can switch which one is facing up. It kind of reminds me of a class ring and is very pretty. Opals are very cool but I tend to like something that sparkles instead of glows.

I should get some of those little spiral things for rings. My diamond won’t stay facing up at all anymore. Darn that gravity and heavy things falling towards the Earth. It is a law that must be obeyed - violators will be brought down! One of my old corny jokes I’d tell my students. My students would groan but then bring me more corny jokes.

I hope you finished up your policy project today. I’m playing semi retired today. I got my work done well before lunch and didn’t feel the urge to work on more Marcy Stuff procedures so have been catching up on TV shows. It’s works since I can always say I’ve got to watch this for issues.

Good idea to go shopping for stocking stuffers. Those candles sound great. Do they look like Twinkies, Kisses and pie? I need to pick up some of stocking stuffers myself. I don’t know if my SIL will be here at Christmas so I should get her some things as well. She’ll be here about the 23rd of this month anyway. I want a Darth Vader clapper. Was that at CVS? Marty would have fun with that.

I think I’ll go get my blood drawn in the morning on my way to work. Tonight is lifting night and I need to go get some stuffed animals from Kay’s to drop off at the Marines Toys for Tots drive. I’m too busy to work. Ha ha.

Happy Thursday kids!

Curby, those spiral things will change your life! Seriously, once you get them on your rings you'll never go back. I don't even size anything any more LOL. The Darth Vader clapper was at CVS. I wanted a second one for a gift and bought it off of ebay because I can't find another in person and they are like double the price on Amazon (I paid $29.99). I'm cheap! My policy project is done as much as it can be without further input from my boss. I'm really looking forward to that next step... NOT! There is another project I'm going to start today that I hope won't take too long. Of course now that I've said that it will take a week, ha ha.

I woke up around 1:30 from a dream where I was in prison and because of my good behavior (they obviously misjudged me!) I was allowed to do a special project. Baking banana bread (which not only have I never done in my entire life, I've never even CONSIDERED doing!) with another inmate... who told me that she had killed her husband and that's why she was in prison. WTF goes on in my head?! Anyway, I fell asleep after that and don't remember any more dreams.

Today I need to pack up an order and get a bunch of things off the dining room table so I can do more photos. Unfortunately the light is terrible since it's so dreary so I'm not sure exactly what going to happen on that front. Tomorrow morning there is an estate sale and I am going to be First In Line. Another local guy and I vie for the good pieces and if he gets there first I will be really really p!ssed off! In a moment of madness yesterday I thought to myself maybe I will let my store peter out after the first of the year, but honestly I think I was just a little overwhelmed at that moment standing in the dining room that is STILL packed with glass despite my recent push. Plus, what else would I do with my time?!

Heading down to the basement now to find some pink Fostoria. Wish me luck!

Ha ha ha. Dee Jay, I just used your great line in “what does Marcy Do”. I listed micromanaging under as necessary tasks with the bullet point of self explanatory.

Hi Kids!

Dee Jay sounds like I need to get some of those spiral things. My diamond is falling around like crazy. I did find the Darth Vader clapper on Amazon. Marty would use it twice then forget all about it. He has a basket on the shelf on the coffee table in front of his couch they he sticks stuff in and never uses. I actually have dug things out of it from last years Christmas stocking and used it again. I amuse myself with these things.

Yay for getting your project done as far as you can. Phooey the next project will be a big one as well. Good luck!

What a crazy dream! I hate those that make you go huh? WTH was that about? Tell Liam not to turn his back on you, eh? I often tell Marty to sleep with one eye open and he replies I always do.

Did you find the pink Fostoria? I hope you beat that guy to the estate sale. Maybe thinking about him is what led to your dream. Ha ha. Good luck!!!!

I started my day getting blood drawn. That lady is quite adept at drawing blood. I don’t even feel it. I finished my Marcy Stuff including the What Does Marcy Do?

My new lens arrived today but since it needed a signature they tried to deliver it while Marty was at the gym. I told Marty it’s his fault that my lens is out there cold and alone and it’s his fault. I did go set it up online to pick it up at FedEx tomorrow. Hopefully he can get it tomorrow.

Speaking of cameras that friend of yours selling cards does she print them herself or does she have them printed? That is a great idea!
