I don't know if anybody has mentioned this yet but you might also want to browse Gabriel and Co. They have some really beautiful settings for very reasonable prices. Ill link a few that are similar to the duassi setting. The reasons I suggest this option is because it will allow more money to go to the stone, there are many pricescoper's who absolutely love their G and Co settings and GOG carries this designer. Also the rings themselves are very beautiful. Hope this helps :wavey:

I really like that floral from whiteflash, I just dont know how shes feel about that rose gold. Does it look like a cocktail ring? Id like to keep the whole purchase under $12k.

I know for sure that she likes that Daussi ring, so I think pairing that setting with a non-Daussi stone through since1910 might be best. YOu all have me nervous about the Daussi quality though. I want to make sure I get a high quality product.

I think the points will be less sharp looking in real life, but yes, it is very expensive.

This setting is absolutely beautiful and its a great deal! The only thing I would be worried about is that it currentally holds an 8 mm stone and I'm not sure how if a smaller stone would fit.

An antique diamond would look beautiful in this setting

I really like the look of the August Vintage cushions from GOG. Although they seem a little pricey, I think one of those will look great in the first Daussi setting I posted.

Here are a couple better shots of the Daussi diamond that I have been considering putting in the first setting.

If you like the AVC - ask GOG about custom making a similar setting or ask if they know of a similar setting. They have access to a ton of different vendors.

She loves the Daussi setting, so please please get her that! She will be so happy. I would secretly be disappointed if my fiance got me something he thought was similar or close enough.

This is true. If she's seen it and love it, then get that exact one for her. I do not like that cushion, but it's a personal preference faceting thing.

I agree. I think I am going to get that setting because I know she loves it. I might look into putting an AVC or regular cushion in there as opposed to the Daussi Cushion.

that's a good call.

What's your stone budget then? I don't know how much that setting is so I can't do the math.

I think there would be nothing more beautiful than an AVC in that halo setting! Very few cushions will have the light performance of an AVC.

I'm thinking of going with the Platinum over the 18k white gold. That's $5k. I'd like to be under $12k all in. Since1910 quoted me $11,250 for the setting I like with the 2nd stone I posted (1.01 Daussi Cushion F VS2)

The question is, can I get a 1.0+ F/VS2 AVC for under $7k.

Why does it have to be F color? I'd absolutely go lower than that in an antique cushion.

I really think $5k is too much for that setting. I think you could get Victor Canera to make a better one (handforged, too) for less than that.

1.02 they have a f vs1 on there for over 12k
a 1.00 f vs2 for around 10k
so i dont know about that
but they do have a .92 g vs1 for your budget
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9412/

I checked the site earlier. I dont know, but that seems way too expensive. They charge a nice premium for that AVC cut. Do they have stock in pricescope or something? Everyone seems to pump those AVC on here.

Ha! No, I have bought other diamonds from Good Old Gold and really, I have never seen more beautiful diamonds than the August Vintage Rounds and Cushions. You'll have trouble finding comparable stones anywhere because few antique style stones will have ideal light performance. They cost more to cut than round brilliants because they require more rough. I sold my hearts and arrows stone so I can buy an AVR, and my hope is to maybe sell my other diamond to get an AVC. We're just recommending "the best" to you. Same with Victor. (But Victor has his own line of antique cushions and no longer sets AVC's, FYI.)

I agree with DS I think those diamonds lend themselve to lower colors. I mean with that budget you could get that fancy colored 1.5 + AVC

it would look to die for with this one
http://www.victorcanera.com/the-lynn-art-deco-halo.html

BUT with that said i totally understand if you know she likes that setting to stick with it. I think DS is just trying to get your best setting for that budget. :)

Since the setting she loves has such a round looking center how about an AVR instead?

Maybe I have to accept that AVC is out of my range. I suppose there's always the option of compromising on the setting and going for 18k instead of platinum. What do you think?

What is the price in 18K and in Pt?

You can put a regular round in it, that is the closest look to the original that she liked.

The Daussi setting that I like and have all but decided on (the first setting in my OP) is $3500 in 18k and $5k in PT.
