Jeff Davies had a 6 mm round and precision cut for only $45. I would definitely contact him to see what else he has available.
Unfortunately he doesn't have anything else available right now, I've asked and I know other PSers have asked.

This is Silver and Earl Grey is on the bottom.

Yeah, I've emailed everyone on your list and most people do not have anything. Please let me know if you think of anyone else I could contact or anywhere else! I assume you're just showing me these photos for example color, not because you are selling them? :)

This is one I might consider ebay for. It seems that you stand a good shot of finding what you seek colorwise from a reputable ebay seller for a fairly inexpensive price and then having it recut.

Freke, gotta say that Earl Grey is my new favorite. Can't believe I'm saying that about a grey stone, but there it is! *walks away muttering**

That is my favorite color too. I'm just not seeing any other stones like that elsewhere either :/

This might seem odd but the other stone I might consider if I can't find a gray spinel.... might be a padparadscha.
Maybe I could find some gray sidestones for it?

I know, I probably couldn't have picked two more opposite stones to consider!

Yeah, just as example color. There are multiple people who have called dibs! But I'm not selling. 8)

I will keep my eye out!

If finding one gray spinel is already difficult, can you imagine how much harder it will be to find a matching pair? As for the padparadscha, unless you are open to a diffused stone, there is no way you are going to find one within your budget.

Yup, but she's asking $129 for it when she paid only $45 for it. No returns or refunds either since it is a pre-loved piece.

Here's a smaller pair of flanders cut greys for sidestones if you go that route. They seem to have small pairs sporadically. I'd be concerned about the contrast between the two colors, though. You want your center stone to pop, right? The combination has the potential to be amazing, but also to be murky if the stones aren't right. http://gemcal.com/fancy-spinel-1-33-cts-2796-15

I saw quite a few nice grays that I imagine could be cut into two smaller side stones, I just didn't find them to be my perfect center stone.

If I were going to go the route of a padparadscha I would expand my budget, but I have nothing against treated or diffused or whatnot. I did see quite a few nice ones here that would be less than $600: http://www.gemrite.com/collections/gems/sapphire

is there a problem with those or something?

Yeah, thanks, I'm not feeling very confident about that piece though and no returns with international shipping....

I did speak with Peter Torraca and he does actually have a few he plans on recutting! He sent me a picture of a few stones and there are two I am quite interested in. I will keep you all posted.
