HELP any experience with USPS intercept or rerouting? Jewels sent to wrong address :(

Gosh, I don't have advice. All I can say is I've been checking in on this thread hoping for resolution, I'd be on pins and needles. Fingers crossed that it works out. At least you know the package isn't lost!

Thanks for letting me know that! If they put it in my box my neighbor has a key. I had to call the dreaded 800 number bc couldn't reach local P.O. and she said once they attempt delivery I can go online and either select pickup, redeliver, or return to sender. So in this case I would select return to sender so vendor can get it to me but I am skeptical that this is a selection because I don't recall seeing that option before. In any case I will keep everyone posted. As of now it still says out for delivery.

Aaaaand as I suspected it wasn’t one of the choices. Just redelivery. Grrrrrrrr

Edit - my bad. I do select re-delivery but then on the drop-down return to sender is the option. I’m confirming with the vendor that the return address is the correct one and I will select that option. Thanks guys for being with me during this play-by-play

Ughhhhhhh I really hope it’ll be returned safely. At least they didn’t just leave it. I’ve had priority mail with signature confirmation packages just being left at my doorstep

That’s crazy!

That’s crazy!

I live in a dense city so it appears that USPS workers just don’t care or seem not to pay attention.

It wasn’t jewelry but it was something worth about $1500 so I was pretty upset even though it didn’t get stolen off of the doorstep (which ALSO happens a ton given that it’s a dense city).

Wth. At least they didn't deliver it anyways. I think the PO will return to sender after 3 attempts or something anyways? So hopefully that will get taken care of either way by tomorrow.

The auto return to sender if left unclaimed isn't until Aug 2!!!! I'm going to be home the 8th.

ETA even my anger gif didn't work wtf.

I can’t believe they don’t answer the phone!!! I’m so mad on your behalf. I’m sorry and pray this piece makes it way back to the seller. So frustrating!

My local post office no longer has a working phone either. We are always directed to their main USPO number where you can hold and wait! Frustrating and indeed frustrated for you!

Ok, since you are a serious buyer, would the seller be willing to call the PO 800 number and explain that the package will go unclaimed and needs to be returned back to her. Referencing the tracking info, something like buyer is indisposed and won't be able to pick it up and seller would like to expedite its return back. Explain that they understand PO processes a lot of packages and rather than use resources to keep trying to deliver, as the sender they are requesting re-routing back to them?
Your local PO will not pick up. Mine never does. It is the 800 number or bust....

I called the one 800 number and they said they would send a notification to the post office and email me confirmation. I did not get an email today. The 800 ppl said the PO probably just didn’t pay attention and it really is stupid because when you go online you actually have to click “re-delivery“ and then there are choices in the drop-down menu which are 1. Pickup 2. Redeliver 3. Return to sender. I picked 3 but the dolts at the PO just saw “redelivery “without seeing the selection.

What is really frustrating is I saw my neighbor on the security camera and then I turned up the volume and the neighbor was saying they could take the package but the worker said he was not allowed to do it because of the signature. And then the neighbor said that we were not in town and the postal worker said “they selected re-delivery though”. :x2

If I had known this neighbor was in town I would’ve had them be at my house but I thought they had moved away! It turns out their move got rescheduled until September.

So anyway the saga continues. I really hope the one 800 people did get in touch with the local PO; they said according to the documentation it is supposed to be sent back to the sender and that when they notify the post office it’s an email that gets sent to the supervisor. But again I never got an email about the conversation so here we are.

Update - after the 800 number ppl sent a notification to the local PO the local PO called me. They had also emailed me and I had replied with a screenshot photo of the confirmation of my request to return to sender. When they called and I explained the situation they just kept saying I picked redelivery...:wall: Whatever - I asked that they return it, and they said that it could but that the process to return to sender could take 2-3 weeks. Wut. I told them that the 800 ppl told me that it would be shipped back in the same manner that it was delivered which was priority. They said that was not their understanding. Though I believe that they have no clue what they are talking about (so far the 800 ppl have been correct about things, like I could choose "return to sender" for instance) I don't want to risk more incompetence from them and have everything further delayed or worse, lost. So they put a note and sent me an email confirm that they would hold it there for me until I got back which is Aug 8th. I am not thrilled with the outcome but it seemed the best choice under the circumstances. :roll2:

When you finally get this package, perhaps you can share with us the precious contents......!

How BEYOND frustrating!

I surely understand your frustration but I guess that is the best option. At least it is not flying around the country with more chances of being lost or misplaced. They wonder why they are losing money . . . No one wants to use an unreliable carrier!

Ok…I…mmm. ::rubs face, takes deep breath:: I am so sorry. I can’t even. Some day we are all going to laugh about this, but not today.

I forgot to update this - I was able to pick up my package and all is good :)
