Hello all-
I lost my wedding ring a few months ago. My husband and I decided to have a completely new ring made to replace the lost one. The new ring is gorgeous but it looks more like a right hand ring and well.... me being me... I am now thinking about having the original remade by the original jeweler. I am considering putting a different stone in the center.

What would you do with this setting? I know that the ring would have to be reworked, prongs, etc. but I am just kicking around ideas at this point. I have considered almost every type of stone and different placement of the stones. Maybe an east-west marquise or a pear set up high or another, larger emerald? I am dazzled by the choices...

Feel free to let loose... I want to hear all options and thoughts on this.

Thanks!

There are actually 3 rings in the setting that have been sautered (sp? correct word?). Also, I don''t know if you can tell in the picture but they were originally yellow gold and then dipped to make it look like white gold. It was starting to wear off when this picture was taken. I will have the new ring made in white gold. Wish I could have it made in platinum but it looks like white gold is in my future...

So I know that it seems as if I am in a large room filled with people and I''m having a conversation with myself... it''s okay (I won''t say its a first time).

I have another posting going at the same time that talks about this ring. I figured I would answer any questions or comments here in hopes that someone will jump in and give me an excellent idea for the setting.

I think Emeraldlover1 mentioned that by changing the size or shape of the stone it might interrupt the flow of the ring. I am a little worried about that... I don''t want the ring to look weird.

I did see a basket setting recently on PS and I think it was for an emerald cut. It had a diamond skirt? Anyway, I was thinking that I would change the prongs on this ring to raise the center diamond up, put a larger EC in with a tiny diamond skirt. With the old setting, the diamond sort of got lost on the ring. I''m hoping to correct that in the second go around by lifting it up.

Any thoughts?
