Hello! :wavey:
This is my first time buying a diamond and also posting here! Please I need some help finding a diamond for my engagement ring! I started the other way around and I found a setting that I love from James Allen ( The Diamond Split Shank Double Halo Pave Engagement Ring) so I prefer getting the diamond from the same store.

I do not know much about diamonds but I have been doing some research. So I think I am looking for a stone;

-Round diamond

-Around 0.9 ct
(My dream is to try to get to this size)

-Excellent cut
(Most important for me)

-Maybe Excellent polish and Ex. symmetry
(but I read this doesn’t influence the diamonds beauty that much, but not sure)

-Minimum H color / better if whiter
(Hope it looks good with the F color of the melee of the ring and difference cant be noticed)

-It can go as low as SI1 if its eye clean.

-None to faint fluorescence would be ok I guess

Budget for the stone around 5000 dollars.

I’ve been looking in the web page but I am never sure about the inclusions, if they are visible to the eye or about the table or depth. I tried using the HCA cut class tool I found here but the more I “learn” the more I am convinced I need expert advice!
I also read that you can ask JA for ASETs ( but again I am totally clueless on how this works)
Please I need some help to find the best diamond possible for my budget!

Thank you! i just asked about the specs. what do you think ?

Don't know what else to tell you. You can run it through the HCA tool if you have the crown and pavilion angles. [under tools at the top of the page]
Again, if it interests you, put it on hold. There is no charge and you can always drop the hold if you don't want to see the stone in person.

thank you! its on hold! the HCA tool says its a score of 1.8.
It looks great. They are going to look for the certificate and come back to me. Then I guess I should ask for the ASET? Sorry for the many questions!

It makes me wonder why the vendor would send it to IGI to be graded instead of GIA. Regardless, you should first have it, along with 2 other diamonds with potential, looked at by JA's gemologist, who will 1) give you an opinion if IGI's color/clarity grade is accurate and 2) compare light performance and give you idealscopes of all 3 stones

oh thank you! I will do that. Do you think the black inclusion in the middle would be visible to the naked eye?

Looks like it has potential! Try to find one more since JA only gives you 3 idealscopes and you can only do it once. Perhaps look for an ags 000 if possible

You can ask JA, but it's very small. If you make the diamond smaller on the website with that sliding bar you can get an idea of what it will look like. Personally, I don't think you could ever see the inclusion.

pretty diamond.

It is a pretty stone, definitely worth requesting an IS image, as for the inclusion on the edge, just check it's eye clean according to your personal expectations and make those clear to the vendor. But the inclusion I can see on the outer facets might be able to be hidden with a well placed prong if they are even visible anyway.

Thank you all! I will post the IS image a soon as I get it
