help. halo or no halo

Have you checked out beverly k? They have quite a few and are reasonable in pricing. They could even consign your current setting after you reset it (if you don't want to keep it that is)
http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/search.php?keywords=beverly+k+halo

Also Tacori isn't cheap, in fact you probably could have something custom done for the same price. I'd check out
www.jewelsbyericagrace.com

They also may have a setting on there that you'd like. I know they have 1 tacori that is for sale on their site (or used to) but it's not a halo.

Hope this helps!

I really like that Tacori setting. I went online and looked at the side view, and loved the detail of the basket part. It seems to me, that your current setting makes your center stone the star, and the halo will make it a 50/50 (setting, stone) eye candy show. If you LOVE this Tacori setting, and it's your dream ring, then you should follow your heart. Only you know what makes your heart go pitter patter when you look at it.
You'll be looking at this ring all day, everyday, so I hope you decide on the one you love. :appl:

I have the 2620 and I LOVE it. Your current setting is lovely too, though.

One thing... what is the color of your stone? If it's less than an H I would worry about the stone looking yellow next to the G stones in the setting - especially if you are color-sensitive.

luvshinyrocks the color of my center diamond is G.

Hi Kristi2011!
I, too, have the 2620. When I first started looking for rings, I knew I wanted a RB with pave band. During my hunt I came across the 2620 online and my gut reaction was WOW that's my dream ring! I saved the picture, labeled it "Dream ring" and sent it to my Fiance. I had no idea when he surprised me with my proposal that the ring he chose was my "Dream ring"!! I adore the 2620, the beautiful details and the fact that although it is a halo, the halo is very petite and only enhances the center stone with soo much sparkle! However, I always have this twinge inside me when I see a beautiful big RB in a pave setting just like yours! For me, the dainty halo gives my 1.26 carat diamond a boost in the size department, but in the back of my mind I always thought if I had a diamond greater than 1.5 carats I would do a setting just like yours!! Also, do you like the fact that the halo is a cushion halo? It will change the shape of the overall look of your ring. If you like that then I say go for the 2620, you can't go wrong with it! However, I think I may have found a compromise for you and your Fiance.... If its the details of the 2620 you like the 2638 gives you the exact details of the 2620 without the halo. It is 4 prong, just like your current setting. Here's a photo. I hope you are happy with your final decision!! Best of luck!

the fact that you're even considering or asking whether to halo or not is probably you're leaning towards the halo... but then again i might be wrong... :) +1 for halo from me...

In my opnion it really depends what type of look and message you want to convey.

If you believe that "less is more" than don't do the halo. It is less bling, and casts less attention overall. It focuses on your one main diamond and nothing else.

However, if you are unsatisfied with the main diamond and wish it were bigger, then halo could add that extra something.
I was told once by a sales person that adding a halo to a 1.5ct diamond makes it look like a 3ct ring overall. (not sure how accurate this is but the general idea seems to make sense)

I read you post regarding frankiextah's Michael B's ring, you can have a jeweler make a similar ring for a lot less. Get a quote from WF...

kristi2011, I love your ring! It looks so big on your finger!! can you tell me what size finger you have? Thanks!!

I am kind of going through the same thing. I actually love my current setting that was custom made and picked out by DH. However, even though I was never into halos I find my ring lacking a little oomph. I don't want a larger stone... I actually think that an added detail of a halo would give the whole ring more prescence on my finger and look more delicate and detailed... I find my stone looking "naked" right now.

I would suggest something that I am doing now... sit on it. Wait and take more time to look around, research and think about it. You don't want to regret making a change too soon. I think the grass always seems greener, but if you sit on it awhile and come back to the same conclusion, then maybe it is meant to be. If you end up changing your mind and finding another option, then be glad you did not act too fast!

Good luck!
