I just got engaged for about a month now. My finance proposed with a temporary setting because he didn't know what kinds of setting I would like. He wanted us to shop together and get something that I would like. We did but nothing stood out to me so we went with a pave diamond setting. Well last week we were in Chicago for a cirque du soleil and had to kill some time before the show.We stopped at a mall and I came across this jeweler that carries Tacori. I feel in love with their 2620 model. One slight problem my finance hates the whole halo look. He thinks it takes away from the center stone. So do i make him happy and keep my current setting or go with the ring that i want? As a little dream I've always dreamed of having a Tacori ring. I do like my setting alot. Its just missing the halo.

congrats on your engagement and your very beautiful e-ring!

but like your fiance, i dislike halos....and that's an understatement. they are everywhere. others here, though, are in love with them.
and i will admit that the one you like is very nice.

but your e-ring looks lovely on you and your diamond stands by itself quite nicely, thank you.

having said that, i think its more important that you have what you want........you're the one that will be wearing it and looking at it for many a year.

or compromise and get him to buy you a right hand ring with a halo?

ps if i were your fiance and you talked me into this, i'd have you sign saying you would never ever want another upgrade.....because in my mind you'd have already gotten it. but don't tell him i wrote that!

That doesn't look like a halo-halo, though: it's a little more subtle, if I'm interpreting the picture correctly, with the stone set underneath and in the gallery, right?

I know where you're coming from: my husband has surprisingly strong opinions about jewelry for a guy who doesn't like it. It's like, he doesn't know jewelry ... but he knows what he HATES! And on most things, I'm happy to compromise. But given that the e-ring is something you're wearing every day, I'd say your preferences trump his on this one point ....

P.S. - If it's the general "shape" you like, maybe fishtail prongs might be the answer?
