Help in purchasing a diamond for a proposal ring

I dont worry so much about symmetry on Fancy cut stones. Most pears and ovals only get Very Good for symmetry.

I like the .52 as well as #6.

Differences (None of these are big issues but your priorities may lead you to one or the other. I think either would be a good choice):

- faceting pattern looks sharper on #6...but, could be photog set up
-.52 gets Excellent for symmetry
-.52 ever so slightly bigger than #6
-#6 has smaller table (preferable)

This is a virtual look at the sizes on a size 5 finger. I dont think you need to over analyze too much.
