I'm considering buying this 0.65ct diamond. I feel generally happy with everything including the price but the only thing I'm not sure about is whether the cut is good enough especially with pavilion angle at 41.2.
The price is around $2,450. Full specs below. Is this actually an "excellent" cut as GIA graded?

All help / opinions appreciated!!!
Also see photo of the diamond attached if it helps!

GIA Excellent Cut doesn't guarantee it's good.... Your suspicion is correct....
also VVS2 is bit deceptive with all the graining....

Definitely not one most folks here would recommend. The cut isn't great

Thank you both for your opinion! Any idea on what I would be sacrificing with this cut? Is it more an like a fairly good cut or is it just not that great at all?

Just want to understand would the average person notice that this diamond has less sparkle and fire, or would only a jeweler/expert see the difference between this stone and a stone with more ideal proportions?

I certainly can't say for sure, but I really think you'd be better off dropping clarity a bit and getting a better cut. You'll notice the cut.

It is considered a steep/deep diamond with a high crown angle coupled with a high pavilion angle. That creates light leakage. Can’t give you a percentage of loss but can show you a super ideal cut stone with similar specs for around the same price (looking at wire price). This diamond takes all the guesswork out of its cut and performance. Is there a particular reason you were looking at high color and clarity? Dropping either of those a bit would result in getting a larger diamond - just food for thought.

Wow thanks for this, that sure is an amazing cut! I lost a side of my earring so trying to find one closest to the other side as possible to match it and those were the specs!

There is nothing worse than second guessing a choice. Been there, done that - several times. So glad to have the option of a super ideal cut. They can be a bit more expensive but when it comes to diamonds, I am thankful to have the guesswork taken out of them. Peace of mind for me in that department has no price tag!
