Hi,

I need to decide between the following stones. unfortunately the vendor can''t provide any picture/report on the first stone. Although the first stone is bigger, I''m a bit worried about its performance. I''d really appreciate any help on that.

A:
GIA
Cut Grade: Excellent
Weight: 1.22 Carat, Color: H, VS2
Depth%: 61.9
Table%: 56.0
Crown Angle: 34.5
Crown %: 15.0
Pavilion Angle: 41.0
Pavilion %: 43.5
Symmetry: EX
Polish:: EX
Girdle: medium, slightly thick
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None

B:
1.03 Carat, Color H, VS1
AGS0
Symmetry: EX
Polish:: EX
H&A

Thanks
Hamidreza

The first diamond has potential, do you have the proportions for the second diamond please and does the second diamond have an AGS diamond quality document or diamond quality report?

Here is the details of the second stone:

Table %: 55.2%
Depth %: 62.1%
Crown Angle: 34.8°
Crown %: 15.60
pavilion Angle: 40.7°
pavilion %: 42.80
Polish/Symmetry: Ideal/Ideal
Girdle: Thin to medium
Culet: None

I haven't got the quality document report, but probably I can ask for that.

Second one has potential, too!! I like this one although you need photos and ASET for further evaluation.

I have seen picture of the second diamond. That''s really nice but the first one is almost 19ct bigger and a bit risky without any picture or ASET.

Should I take the risk, Any ideas ?!

Do you have the diameter measurement for the diamonds? I forgot to ask you for it earlier! As to the first diamond, if the vendor has a return policy then you could certainly order it and see what you think.

A: 6.85 * 6.89 * 4.25
B: 6.44 * 6.48 * 4.01

Thanks, those look fine.

Both are around $6000 and would the 2nd stone (GIA VS2) be eye-clean?

GIA VS2, very likely it will be, but it is always best not to assume but to check carefully with the vendor. Occasionally it can happen that VS2 won''t be eyeclean enough for the odd eagle eyed buyer. We had one a couple of years ago who bought a GIA graded VS2 of around 0.70ct. There was a tiny dark inclusion from the side which apparently no one else could see, but he could and it bothered him, so he returned the diamond. So make your expectations clear, if you don''t want to see any inclusions from any angle at close scrutiny then make sure you tell the vendor that. But the situation described above is unusual, many reliably graded VS2 are eyeclean or so it would seem.
