This guy is a bit darker and seems almost a bit silvery in color, and is scattered with some little inclusions but I doubt they'd be visible from a distance.

This is probably all the researching I'll do for tonight... it's getting late and I have an early start tomorrow!
That is one pretty stone! I also quite like the hint of purple!
Okay, just with a cursory glance I've compiled a few options:
I found this lovely rectangular sapphire on Earth's Treasury. It's only 8mm but I figured it most fit the shape in your original photo that I thought it was worth sharing.

Figured this is a decent variety to start with, but there are lots of other places I can look!
A longshot, but color and cut look reasonable - any chance a pear would work?

These are amazing stones!!! Thank you!!! My untrained eye ofourse gravitates to the biggest one. Lol
You should go with what you like! I think they are all very pretty! I tend to prefer more "velvety" over "glassy" looking material if that makes sense. It all boils down to personal preference.
Ahhh. Yes! Velvety is the right word. Those ovals are really something! I might jump the gun on number 3. In terms of buying stones from overseas, do you know if I have to pay duties once it reaches US?
I didn't pay duties personally. However shipping is an added cost - it is not included in pricing. I wish I could remember how much I paid but something tells me it was $100 or less but I can't make guarantees....
He can tell you the price and works with someone who specializes in shipping overseas if you would like to buy it (he works with a lot of overseas clients)
***Edit - I was able to ship Fedex which was very comforting. DHL is also reliable too in my experience
I messaged him about number 3. SO excited!!! I can't thank you enough!
OMG I am pumped FOR YOU! So happy to help! Keep us updated for sure!
Just waiting on the bank details and I should be good to go!! He said fedex would cost $200-230 Do you mind sharing your sapphire here? and how long did it take for you to receive it?
That makes sense (RE shipping) - I swear I couldn't recall what mine cost for the life of me. It could have easily been $200 or more...
I think mine took 1.5 weeks...it was at peak chaos for COVID and it was during Sri Lanka's lockdown....but it made it safe and sound!
I got a 2.56 carat vivid blue (not really a royal blue - can't remember what the cert said) sapphire. I took it into loooots of different lighting environments. Keep in mind- he lives in a tropical region with very intense sun.... whereas I live in the midwest where it is dreary and overcast half the year! HAH! You will notice it has many different personalities and changes a lot in different lighting
You will see - my 3rd pic in particular - artificial light at night or 4th in the shade of bright sunlight indoors - not flattering light. These are my stone at is worst

Beautiful!! How are you setting it?
What a beautiful stone and an equally beautiful ring design!! Can't wait to see the finished product... I know it will be stunning!
Yaaaay @ean , I knew Gemocean would have something that fit the bill!
If I had any money at all, it's where I'd go! I'm super excited to see it when it gets here.
*@Cerulean Those choices! Someday I'm going to ask you to be an official emissary.
@Cerulean May I ask how you paid? Did you do a wire transfer through your bank? I've been trying to do it online because there is just no way I'm going to my bank physically with this pandemic going on. Sigh.
Hmmm. I paid with PayPal - but I don't think that is standard and I am not sure if he will be able to do it again - I paid a colleague of his, he doesn't have an account. There are weird embargos w/ receiving $ with PayPal in Sri Lanka....it was a leap of faith.
I would honestly just call your bank and see if they can help you!
Unfortunately he said the only way he'll receive payment is through a bank transfer. With shipping and bank fees it will be close to $2.2K, sigh.
