Happy New Year's Eve Everyone!!!!!

After modifying my search criteria i have found a few more diamonds I like. I understand that it is New Years Eve so no rush in reply. I just wanted to post what I found and get some feed back at your convenience.

Here is a link to some of the diamonds that I have found. Some of the diamonds are K in color but if it looks as clear as they do in these pictures I would buy one asap. The price range for some are more than we originally wanted but I would work it out for this look. Plus with the price scope discount it really isn't that much more compared to the diamond we found at Fey & Co.

Thanks for your time,

I am partial to the emerald cut stones- BUT you need to figure out what type of cut you like- step cuts give off different type of sparkle (broader flashes) as opposed to ovals and radiants... (more like a round brilliant sparkle)

Hi All,

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year Day! I have narrowed down my search results to one diamond that Will and I both like. Here is a link and information for the diamond.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/J-VVS1-Premium-Cut-Emerald-Diamond-1241266.asp

GIA number: 6107769541
Shape: Emerald
Carat weight: 1.39
Cut: Premium
Color: J
Clarity: VVS1
Certificate: GIA
Depth: 64.9%
Table: 68.0%
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Excellent
Girdle: Slightly thick to thick
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 7.84*5.36*3.48
Ratio: 1.46

My concern with this diamond is the light reflection. In the picture the diamond looks clear with little reflection. I read on the knowledge page under emerald cuts that the table should be smaller than the depth. What does this do to the diamond? I really like this diamond and would consider purchasing it but I am afraid that it won't sparkle. Help!

If you're open to lower colors, I'd check the stock of AVCs at goodoldgold.com over pretty carefully. They've got some that would be high end of budget and lowish color, but I bet they have some elongated cushions that would be firecrackers. Sure the edges are softer than radiants, but still obviously rectangular.

The stone I immediately thought of when I read this thread, was that Y-Z colored 1.09ct AVC, http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/7557/ . When you look at the website it doesn't show a price, but if you click "reserve diamond" it shows it, at least prior to any bankwire discounting: $4140. With the discount taht could bring it closer to affordable.

A well cut white radiant is hard to find. Often that cut is used for *retaining* color, so you see a lot of light yellow and other fancy colored diamonds radiant cut. Not so much white diamonds.

That's why I'd suggest you maybe keep looking for elongated cushions- cushions are popular right now, and so potentially easier to find a nicely cut one. Good deal you're open to lower colors- I love antique and antique style cuts with a bit of body color.

Hello Everyone, :wavey:
Here is a update on the search. The 3 diamonds I requested a gemologist report on came back with various reasons that have lead me not to purchase one of them. Good news is that I have finally decided on one shape that I want for sure. I am in love with the emerald cut

New search:

Cut: Ideal or Premium
Shape: Emerald
Color: G, H, I or J
Clarity: VS2
Size: 1 to 1.50 carat
Length Width Range: 1.50 to 1.75 (rentangle shape)
Price: below $5,000

Here are some settings that I like:

With a 1 carat or larger diamond I like this 3 stone setting:
http://www.jamesallen.com/wish_list.asp

With a 1.40 t0 1.50 carat I like a eternity or solitaire setting:

As of now I am going to take my time searching and have enlisted my boyfriend to help (if not take over) because I am feeling a little overwhelmed by the search. At the end of the month there is a Jewelry Convention that we are attending to get more experience looking at different types of diamonds. I look forward to a positive outcome, with a gorgeous ring. I'll keep everyone updated on the progress. TTYL

Yes,i like the idea of an antique/estate piece. I feel the ring is more unique because it comes with history. The setting is beautiful and is the exact style of a costume piece that I use as a reference. Thanks for the great link. I gave it to my boyfriend Will. He will be contacting the company. I will keep you posted.
