Nice choices! Those will make beautiful studs. BTW, if WF doesn't have 6 prong settings, consider the 8 prong that they have.

I got mine at James Allen. You might want to check there as well for comparison.

That is a beautiful pair! I like WF because of the upgrade policy. Honestly, I'd go with their least expensive settings (martini or 4 prong baskets) in case you ever upgrade. On stones that size, you aren't going to see much of the setting, and I prefer to see as little as possible anyway! You want to see diamonds!

Good to know DS.

I'm waiting for WF to call me back to discuss the stones/settings.

JA had very little stock IMO, maybe because of the time of year (V-Day).

I'm not sure if BGD is still running the special on earrings, but if they are, you could pair these with a simple martini setting and still be very close to budget.

Plus, these stones have fluor and are a bit larger than you had stated!:

.513ct, I, VS2 / .514ct, I, VS1

If you decide you want to stay closer to .8 cttw, here is a great option, well under budget:

.407ct, G, VS2 / .400ct, G, VS2

Those diamonds look really pretty!!!

I agree about going with the most basic style setting, in whatever metal you prefer, because you really cannot see much of the setting. The earrings I just got have such tiny prongs, it mostly looks like the diamonds are floating on my ears. I was wondering about some of the elaborate stud settings and wondering if I should have gone for something like that, but there is *no way* anyone would be able to see the detail with the earrings on. If I knew for sure that the earrings were the *final ones* and I'd never upgrade, then I'd have them set in platinum, but nobody can ever say for sure when it comes to buying stones that have the advantage of being upgradable.

Can't wait to see your finished earrings. Enjoy :))

perfect selection for first pair of studs and they are upgradeable yeag

I had a conversation with Jamie at BG today and she was able to show me a few more options (Brian Gavin Signature), one of them being very close to the ones at WF (size and clarity were the same, color is I though).

WF still can't give me a price on the 6-prong setting (yes I have my heart set on 6 prongs).

BG said they could do a 6-prong setting like this for me - http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamond-pendants/six-prong-basket-14k-white-gold-5937w14

WF - diamonds are $2148.00 + $175 for the setting (3-prong martini)
BG - diamond are $1920.90 + $205 for the setting (6-prong as shown above)

I took a look at BG's trade-up policy, it looks to be the same as WF's.

Thoughts?

I think based on responsiveness and options I will probably go with BG.

Just waiting for Jamie to confirm a few things and I should be all set to pull the trigger ;)

Both WF or BG are great and have well-cut stones and good trade-up policies, so I'd go with whoever has diamonds that match what you're looking for.

IMO, WF's trade-in policy is better than BGD's because you can trade in for any ACA, Expert Selection, or Premium Select diamond of equal or greater value. BGD forces you to upgrade 2 of the 3 criteria (carat, color, clarity).

Oh yeah, just saw that now. I don't think it will have much impact but good to know nonetheless.

ALL upgrades need to include two of the three following variables - size, color and clarity, additional charges may apply at time of upgrade .
