Hey everyone,

So Im moving along in the process of designing a custom wedding ring made by the folks at GOG. If you haven't seen my prior thread the design I'm looking to recreate is this:

but with the center stone being an August Vintage / OEC round (.25-.33 carats) and regular diamonds for the side, not black. I also want the center stone to be mounted more flush than recessed - something similar to whats shown below:

After talking to Lynda at GOG these are some of the pictures I was able to get of the stones they have available in the size range I'm looking for.

The first two in the pictures are the .23 E and the .31 M (Fancy) Im not really fond of these two stones so they aren't really an option but they show a good size reference next to the 2 pointer side stones that I will be using for the channel set. I plan on using 5 on each side of the band, same as the model above.

Here's the first stone that is a major contender a .33 J - there are details on this stone found here on their website. I'm a little worried about the feather on the stone. Also on the picture below are the side stones, the right side is 2 pointers and the left is 1 pointers. Once again I plan on using 5- 2 pointers on each side.

These are the two other stones that I am looking at compared to the .31 J

Any advice on quality of stones, which ones to look at, design, size of side stones would be appreciated!!

Have you seen the J in person, are you happy with the colour, what coloured smaller side stones can you get and are you using because if the centre is a J and the sides are really white that will make the centre stone look even more coloured, unless you want it to contrast.

I haven't seen the J in person but from the pictures it doesn't look too yellow for me. I know that OECs usually face up brighter than normal rounds and that color is usually more visible from the sides. Being that it will be set down in the ring I think it won't be an issue. The price difference between the D, E, and J is also so close it's negligible (size and clarity are the main differences). What I'm more concerned about is the inclusions / clarity and size than color for the stones. Also the J is next to higher color side stones in the picture already and it doesn't look too drastic of a difference to have me drop color of the side stones or rule out the J based on its hue.

I would think all their AVRs are lovely. My only suggestion is not to have too much color variation between the centre stone and 2 point melee.

It looks like the J holds most of it's color in the body so I really doubt you will see it in RL once it is set.

Love the inpiration ring. I wish my husband had done something blingy! :appl:

Thanks for your replies everyone!

As I said before I'm not too concerned with the J color with the side melee. (The reason why the J is a consideration is that I'm leaning towards wanting the bigger .33 size versus the .27). I know it isn't much of a difference but feel it might give the look I'm going for better. What I'm more curious about is what y'all think about the feather that I noted in the J do you see any issues with integrity or visual appearance because of it? They're are some better pictures of the stone on GOGs site and for the F colored stone as well. I'm thinking of putting a reserve on a stone soon so I can get a quick comparison video of the stones if it would be possible. I know it isn't a big deal as if I was buying another e-ring stone, but this is my turn and like last time I will leave no rock unturned (diamond jokes haha).

If you just posted it on PS I would reserve it now. PS has lots of lurkers and when diamonds aren't put on hold they tend to disappear. :errrr:

I know, I have to talk to the 'boss' tonight and see what she says. Hopefully I will by the end of the week and have it all started in the design process. I found this picture on my lunch break (also a video in the link):

Combine that with the channel set in the first picture and its basically exactly what I'm shooting for!
