Hi, I have a 1.6ct pear diamond that I'd like to set as a floating pendant with the pointy part up. Does anyone have a design they like that will generally stay down and not flip? Should I get jump rings at 15" and 17" or just do 15"? I'm thinking of asking CVB to set it, any recommendations? I'd like to set it in 18k gold. I've attached a picture of the diamond in a temporary setting. Should I get it attached to a chain or not? I want to optimize for not flipping and staying in front. Does anyone know the name of this chain? I really like it.

It looks kind of like a paperclip chain.
I can't help much with the setting as far as flipping when it comes to a pear. For rounds, I prefer slides for pendants, but some prefer fixed. I like the slide because the stone tends to stay where it belongs, but the chain may move so that the clasp doesn't stay in the back. On me, a fixed stone tends to wander and I have to keep centering it, so I'm not a fan of that. It really is personal as to which you would rather deal with.

Not 100% sure on the design but it might help to thread the chain through the back of the stone rather than a bale. Or go for a fixed design. I think if the basket is flat enough it should prevent flipping; also if the chain is not too long. I don’t have a pear pendant (mine is round) but it never flips because the chain doesn’t have enough give in it. I have jump rings from 15-17 and I really like it because it gives me a little variety depending on the neckline of my outfit, but most of the time I wear it at 15 (or maybe it’s 15.5 I can’t remember exactly).
