Help! Opal Wedding/Eternity Band?

Recently engaged, and looking for a 14 karat white gold (unplated if possible) opal wedding/eternity band. I've found some via Amazon and other third-party websites, but I want to make sure what I get is natural opal and well made. I would like a white/crystal opal band, as my diamond is an N color August Vintage Cushion, so I would like the opal to match it's warm vanilla color. I have a size 4.75/5 finger, so the opals can be smaller in size.

Opals are very delicate and should not be set in a ring worn daily. Sapphires, rubies, and diamonds really are the only stones durable enough for an eternity ring, in my opinion.

I recommend looking for a different gem type for an everyday wear wedding band. Opals are soft and easily scratched, can dry out and crack in a low humidity environment, can easily be damaged by household chemicals and cannot be repaired.

Thank you for your help - that's such a shame as I love opal, and was hoping that having it bezel set would be protective enough for every day wear, but I see that's not the case. Thank you again for the information!
