Hi folks! First time diamond buyer. Holy heck am I going crazy! This all started with a friend taking me to a jeweler to see a rock. Im a detail oriented person and I didnt know anything about diamonds. I just knew what I was looking at wasnt right.
Two weeks later and I've ordered an Ideal as well as an ASET scope. I've been burning my eyelids off reading and going around jewelry stores as well as shopping online.
It is so damn hard to find the most exact cut. The most I've come up so far are these few options for my pricepoint. Please let me know what you think.
PS, I am loving this whole journey though. I'm a mechanical engineer, so it's been fun learning about cut geometry, inclusions, etc. to achieve optimal light reflection. It's like being back in school, although, hard as hell without having fine samples to compare things to!
Judging by the ASET scope image, the neck of the arrows are exhibiting a bit of blend with green, which indicates light leakage? Again, I'm a complete noob, but would like an opinion nonetheless
The ASET image, the center circle is also exhibiting a blend of green with blue, which also indicates this gem is of lesser cut quality than the link above? There's also dark spots around the center from what might be inclusions?
The center on the ASET image has different shades of green, now this is something I haven't figured out yet but different color shading should mean it should be a concern as well, even if it's the same color, according to what I've read?
Again peeps, call me a noob, I am one! Just trying to do some homework before pulling the trigger here. My lady is a former Miss Universe with a heart of gold. I could put a rock I found at the park and she'd be happy with that. But... she deserves much more than that so I'm willing to go the distance for the ideal rock for the budget we have.
Thank you in advance for all the help and I've truly enjoyed going through this forum and reading up about diamonds this past few weeks. It's been a blast! A nerve racking one but a fun one nonetheless.
Happy Holidays!
