Help picking the rock! I'm lost down this rabbit hole!

Sounds like the color is an important factor (it is for me, when I'm the one shopping), so are you leaning towards the beautiful 2.09?

The price doesn't seem right to be honest
Here's a similar G color. But I'm not sure what the discount usually is for medium fluorescence.

On the WF stones, are there any comp pics with the 2.526 ct?

Almost double in price, yikes! I can ask for pics :)

Since I'm stuck in Houston for the night (not a bad thing to be honest!) I'm going to bore you guys and gals with a story.
TL:DR I might be leaning towards the 2.5. It just wowed me!
Here's the long version of where this is going to and I feel so godamn appreciative of everyone's advice here...
4 years ago, Hurricane Maria decimated the island I was born and raised in. I lived in LA at the time, was in Virginia for a short work trip. I saw this storm coming and it just didn't seem right for some reason. I got a ticket home in case shit hit the fan, and it did. I lost communication with my parents as the whole island went dark. My flight in was cancelled cause the airport got hit pretty bad. Rather than waiting till I can get on a flight, I started buying 27 gallon home depot totes, running to every dollar store I could fine in Virginia and filled them up with batteries, flashlights, canned food, baby formula, whatever article of necessity I could find. 5 days later and I was on the first commercial flight that managed to get in with 19, 100 lbs boxes full of relief supplies. I showed up at my parents house, unannounced because there was no way of getting in touch anyway, and told my disabled parents they had 2 hours to pack to get the hell stateside. I got my parents to Florida that same day and the 19 boxes I brought went poof between people with desperate needs. Supply chain went to shit in Puerto Rico with truck drivers stuck in their homes, ports shut and a barely functioning airport. Those 19 boxes Delta Airlines let me check-in for free went viral on social media. All of a sudden, when I'm settling my folks in Florida, this outstanding, breathtaking woman messages me on facebook, saying she went to school with one of my cousins and that she wants to help me organize a second, third or whatever supply trip I could manage if I were up to it. One peak at her social media profile and it's a former Miss Universe Puerto Rico, asking to come help me out? Ha! I went on a second trip where I managed to get 50, 100lbs boxes on another Delta flight and she met me in PR to help me deliver all this stuff to some of the hardest hit places back home. I was totally expecting an instagram model, just there to take pictures and slow me down. Well... at our first stop, it started pouring and I told her to wait till it stops raining. That woman basically called me a wus, if rain was going to kill me and that people were dying, shit needs to get done NOW. She basically cracked the whip. I wont go into more details but 3 months later, we were delivering over 90 pallets a day of water, food and medical supplies where we got a phone call asking how the hell could we be delivering more than the Red Cross, the US Army and the local government. My boss even ended up getting me a federal community service medal as I used to work for the feds before I started my own business.

Anyhow, this woman I'm buying this rock for... we have quite a bit of history and I just wanted to thank everyone here, regardless of my choice, for helping me on my quest for the rock she deserves or at least something close! I would put a piece of the moon on her if I could, but I'll have to settle for a diamond :)

I wish I could "like" this post more than once.
Amazing story, PirateLLC!

Impressive story! You two have made quite a team.

Go with your gut - it wowed you and you said she would be happy with any ring with a good story behind it. Going to see this diamond in person and being so taken with it makes for a beautiful story that she would surely love!

What an incredible story! You sound perfect for each other.

From the way you've described the 2.5, it sounds like the right choice for you and for her! Go for it!

This might not be too helpful, but both are gorgeous! You cannot go wrong. What you say about the 2.5 is so passionate that i think it’s the one!

Wow, that’s is one hell of an origin story!

I’m voting for the 2.5 btw!

Amazing story! So happy you found the right "one"!

What a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing!
You should go with the 2.5. You just sound taken with it. You must follow your gut. It hasn’t steered you wrong yet it seems!! :)

Both amazing choices, and your story is incredible. Definitely go with your gut!

In the face up position there is very little difference in color. I would definitely choose the 2.52. At the very least, you are not stuck with a stone you don’t love - trading up is very easy!

This image solidifies my vote for the 2.526 ct.

The face ups look very similar in color to my eyes.

What do you think?

They do look similar on photos, face up. In person, the 2.09 looks quite whiter but the size of the 2.5 is what made me lean towards that one.

Do you know your SO's ring size? A visual from Diamdb.com may help you decide, as well.

Here it is with a size 7. If it were me I’d pick whiter over size at the I/J level, but many would choose size. If you don’t know your beloved’s preference having one resonate with you is as good a reason as any. You might also consider if she likes to keep things more modest or really make a statement, and how often she wears jewelry and if she’ll want to wear her ring all the time.

I would pick whiter as well! They're both large stones. It also depends on how much of a jewlery lover she is - there have been men who come on here and their fiances rarely wear diamonds so they go for the whiter smaller one.

Beautiful stones to go with a beautiful story! I hope you come back and post your final choice as well as the finished ring.

Also, bravo for trusting your eyes at that initial shopping session.

Fabulous story, thank you for sharing.

I say go with your gut, don't second guess yourself. The 2.5 wowed you, and once away from PS and all our craziness, all you will notice is size, baby!

Can't wait to see what you choose and what setting you put it in.

Have you made a decision yet on which diamond you are going to buy?

@PirateLLC -What an amazing story and couple! I wish you both the very best.

I agree with others to go with your gut. If she ends up being color sensitive, you have the upgrade option and it’s such an easy process with WF.

What a wonderful story! You’re such a sweet guy. You can’t go wrong. Go with your gut and PLEASE give us updates!!

just my two cents, but first of all, I think the faint brown tint which looks whiter to you, will probably look whiter to her. I'm a fan of the faint brown tints over yellow tint. Secondly, from your story, it sounds like you two may be doing more humanitarian type things for the rest of your lives so I'm not sure that size should be the determining factor. If you are around people who need help in one way or the other, if she will be wearing her ER most of the time, smaller might be more in line with that. If she won't wear it daily, then that part of the equation can be ignored. Then it's back to color vs. size.

I went for the 2.5, just because it's the one that wowed me the most. I do have the 2.09 coming back to haunt me in my thoughts every now and then. The points on here are pretty spot on. So I'll potentially offer her the choice of changing it since we have 30 days to do so, even if it costs a bit extra.

She actually has a 5.5 ring finger. I finally got to snatch a ring she uses in her ring finger

I'll keep you all posted on the proposal. COVID has slowed our plans down considerably.

We do often go out and volunteer to help on our own, we always dress down for that. My main concern is our extensive travel, so even if it were the 2.09, we would have to have a travel ring of sorts as I would'nt trust having her carry that ring around the places we go.

I sealed the deal with Whiteflash today and should have a tracking number soon. I picked the simplest 4 prong setting as I want her to pick her own after I propose.

I was supposed to have her jump out of an airplane with me and I'll linking up mid jump with her (we both skydive), giving her a fake ring and acting like it flies out of my hand mid jump, then land and give her the real ring on the ground. A bit ambitious but hey, if timing doesn't work, then I'll just do something more traditional.

No one can argue that you have put a lot of thought and effort into this. And thank goodness you aren't handing her the actual ring mid air. I like that you are choosing a simple setting so that she can choose one herself. I think more people should do that. Best of luck to you both and please come back with photos of the ring and if possible, the proposal.
