hi,
i am in the process of getting a new setting (online) for my diamond and would like to get it set locally--does anybody know of a good jeweler or benchman in the detroit area? i don't really have anybody i've worked with before and i'm afraid to just pick a name out of the phonebook. any referrals would really be appreciated.

If you go to the "Resources" tab and click on "Local Jewelers" you can do a search according to your zip code. Maybe try that?

thanks starry, i checked that out, but would prefer a referral from someone who has personal experience with a jeweler. i live halfway between detroit and ann arbor so i'm hopeful somebody on here will have a recommendation.

Hopefully you'll get a recommendation, but when I don't know of anyone, I try to go to a high end jeweler because I figure they have plenty of picky customers like me and probably want to keep their reputation! That may not hold true all the time, but it has worked so far for me!

Pat Scott Jewelers on Mack Avenue in Grosse Pointe. Very knowledgable, flexible and low key. I would give PAt a call.
